My friends, I hope you enjoy this early look at the siege system we are still actively working on for Alpha One! Quick suggestion Steve! Idk if you have it already, but having a map that shows where all the control points are would help a lot. Game looks great so far though!

Game is getting perfect everyday, pvp is looking good, great performance, Excited to see the whole Siege mechanic. I would love to see some War mounts like Albion would be perfect for this, but would be need a way to sink that mounts as well

To be fair if you are doing a decent mount system, should be ways to sink mounts, or people Will sit with the best one for ever... For God SAKE just don't do mount permanent and just fashion collectebles for asmonbald, yeh skins for mounts should be for life but not mounts, keep the economy around mounts strong

Enemy name plates need to be a lot more distinct from allies. It's hard to distinguish between the two in the heat of battle.

A simple clearly red nameplate for enemies would do. Much like most mmos have been doing. No need to reinvent the wheel on stuff like that. :P

stun lock op, also it was a sorry sight to watch him play, he probably was more concerned about recording than fighting, but he seemed like he wasnt playing this before at all

@@Damas089 haha yeah, I mean Steven isn’t the sweatiest of players, he even clicks his hot bar a lot of the time to use abilities :) I’m in the alpha though and he’s doing a great job though, so big love to the guy

Did you expect anything else? Players will automatically see GMs as main targets if given the chance. Making that target very hard to kill only adds more incentive. :P
I feel like the dragon shouldn't be able to turn 180° on a dime - if it was more sluggish (tie it's rotation only to attacks and focus more on close-range AoE if it needs to rotate too much or fly to a different spot in the arena entirely if it's overwhelmed?) it'd be much more imposing, as one would expect from the name of "Elder Dragon".

This is a traditional holy trinity MMO, so sadly I doubt theyll let bosses have that much freedom, or class balance will be disastrous. It'll just turn into a raid of 200 ranged specs with 0 melee aside from maybe 1 or 2 tanks, if ranged tanks dont just take their place in that regard.

make falling from high places deadly, it gives much more depth to the game's enviroments and makes positioning more important. It would be specially nice in a siege.

THIS. They should at least add some considerable amount of damage from falling, if possible add colision too, that way u could add traps, pits and stuff that ppl fall and just die because of the terrain and could also receive damage if got trampled by a War Machine '-'

It's not the focus right now. That type of stuff would come much later as they are more focused on smashing bugs on the new systems that are being implemented.

Yeah, when he jumped down I was really expecting them to take over half their HP in damage. That was a looong drop. Defenders should be forced to open gates if they want to go out on the field and meet the attackers.

I mean yes, but also no. I think you should take more damage but I think you should have some skills or at least something to counter it. In race, like elfs take less damage, they are lighter. But maybe also class like: a mage can warp down or some other class an glide down idk.
Honestly, other than the combat still looking very clunky, this was a great demonstration of how far this game has come. The PvP looked great, environments looked fantastic, special effects were flashy. My main gripe though is that the combat lacks weight and it feels like there’s nothing behind it. Hopefully that’s something remedied in the future!

Also when Steven was using the ballista thing, it didn’t look too impactful when shooting it. Think it needs more aoe animation where it lands, I wanna know for sure that I am hurting my enemies

I prefer fast-paced combat that doesn't root you in place with each animation. When you have a battle of more than a few people on screen anything else just gets you killed.
That was different, this is what you get when a gamer is the creative director. That's your strength and thats why players from around the world are keen to play your game.
I remember the biggest criticisms of this game when it was mostly conceptual was getting it to run in unreal engine with all these people, tons of "devs" saying it was impossible. See this after all this time is honestly amazing.

theres another mount in the game its a black lizard and it has like a special emote where you stand still and hit the space bar and itll do a 360 tail spin and it has a hit box apparently so you can send people flying with it and thats what happened lmao

dedicated server, not live. when it goes live there’ll be some networking issues im sure. networking is one of the hardest things to get right in games.

@@wabiandsabi8606 I didn't see any teleporting. I did see jank animations which are par for the course in most MMO's. Just look at wow PvP and Raid animations or even FF where animation sliding is a mechanic of the game. Even eso has tons of janky animations. We'll see if it holds in live servers tho

Enemy nameplates need some work I honestly couldn't tell who you were attacking when there were lots of people around. Apart from that I am really happy by what I saw and look forward to playing this game for many years.

You can't look at this, even for 30 seconds, and have several people all around with their own opinion of participation in an Alpha and think this game's a scam or not being done. This looks fantastic! Keep it up! I have a question and is how did people have FPS issues during alpha but you can record 4K and it looks quite smooth? Like what would be the issue there? I know people might have lesser hardware but pretty much all capable I'd believe.

The simplest possible answer would be that they have been able to improve the performance lately with a recent update the alpha testers back then couldn't play with. But back then most alpha testers I heard have not really complained about fps issues. Many were instead impressed how well it worked so early in on mediocre hardware. Maybe its an issue thats not the same for everyone?
This performance is Fenomenal.. i have never seen a game handling this ammount of players at the same time, casting skills ans stuff. Great job!!
I would suggest to have the same thing as warhammer online has.Turn on the character collision only in combat, limit the aoe spells stacking and have couple sec cc immunities, after you have been affected by such a skill.

I like your collision idea but I think aoe spells shouldn't be restricted, as this was just 50v50 while the ultimate goal is 250v250 and in a large battle unless you go between enemies alone not many skills would fall on one player as people will be attacking whoever is in front of them. As for cc, cc locking is a bit too much right now and should be reduced a bit but same with aoe spell unless a lot of people, say over 5, attacking you at the same time you won't get cc locked. I think it bring a bit of realism too as if these were to happen in reality, aoe will stack and so will cc locking.

@@ohihassan693 You will never ever pass any choke point, if stacking of aoe spells is not limited. WAR also had no limit at the beginning, but It was swiftly dropped, because of this exact reason. And also because of the "bombing meta" where you run raid groups of characters with great aoe abilities and coordinate the spells to release at the same time. By doing this you can wipe out hundreds of players. Beleave me, I am talking from experience. And as much as It is fun from the perspective of those who are doing the wiping, the casual majority of players will hate It and leave. We have already been there, take the lessons learned.

@@Drragnorr yeah I understand what you are saying but releasing aoe at the same time won't work with 250 players unless they all group up at one spot for some reason. The battle area is wide open and there is a lot of room and places to be for all of the players to group up at a place. At most a well coordinate aoe attack can get 10 to 20 players at most and also so far I don't see any aoe spell that is large to cover up an area occupied by 50 players. In a battle with 250 players against 250 players, sides will have to set up groups, some will be scouts, some to flank, some to distract etc similarly a group made for the purpose of taking out aoe spell casters can counter. You see with 8 classes and 250 players, there is a lot can be done. And since not all classes are released yet and not all mechanism are working fully to unable the intended 250vs250 battle,i think we need to wait more before we make a committed conclusion. A lot of things will change and a lot of new things will be in it. So far for a pre alpha this looks hella promising.
That armor is badass I’d like to see some gameplay of the different classes
Looks fantastic. Been thinking of playing everything as my first character. Ranger, cleric, tank or a wizard. But now when the game really is taking shape, we can see that the physics of collision and also the sound effects is very immersing. Makes my want to play something more ”in your face”. Running up with a big sword starting to go ham... Fighter it is!!! (for now)

the screams of the players dying was pretty good specially that insane fight at the gate line ups. i think better visuals of were those control points need to be implemented on the mini map but other then that looking great
One of the things that caught me off guard and really loved was the sound design. Specifically the sounds the player characters were making. Whether it was casting spells, getting hit, screams of death in the background. I wasn't even playing and it felt super immersive.

This was the best stream ever. Just wow. I liked the siege but my favourite was the dragon fight. Graphics and the details look so amazing. I have butterflies in my stomach when I think of playing the game and discovering the world

For alpha 1, this looks very solid, even with all the work it still needs to be done on it.
the dragons look interesting, I wonder if they are tied into the lore and will there be other bosses depending on the node. Also how are you going to keep the seige boss fights fresh like it should routine kill dragon -> defend xyz. Wouldnt it be interesting if the dragons attacked or say if you could capture one to help in the seige

Really loving the frost dragon and its mechanics. Obviously everything else working and seeming epic is just amazing at this stage. Keep it up!!
Hi! For an Alpha One it looks pretty decent how it would be more or less. I just wanna point out some issues that I saw: - I think there should be a quick command like on WoW to see visual plates over the enemies or allies, to let DPS/Healers/Tank know where they should aim their AoE and to know hwo the battle is truly going, to know if you need to go back or harass more. - There should be a setting to reduce the particles on the AoEs, a lot of spells I'm seeing can be exploited af on PvP to get that Out of Sight advantage. - I saw that mages do QUITE REDUCED DAMAGE if we compare to the Melee's damage, even a tank almost oneshoted him, A TANK, and a Tank can do good chain cc's aswell. That's something to work on because if not we already know there will be a Tank/Ranger meta for sure - Last one: STEVEN STOP CLICKING FFS kekw

One thing that I noticed that made this dev update SO much better was the soundtrack in the background. I feel like that is what I was missing from the other videos. Idk if this bgm is official or royalty free but i recommend using them more in future Livestreams :)

i love everything ive seen about the game so far except the player movement and animations. they seem clunky and placeholder i really hope their quality gets ramped up to the quality of the world

@@xDarkjoy It is literally the same, idk which Lineage you played but I started on C4 and it´s basically the same with most mechanics. Which is no surprise considering Steven is Lineage fan.
30:40 that can be very annoying with people making Meta groups of Stun locks.. i hope you guys implement a Resistance for some seconds after you get CC'd to avoid Stun Locks or similar systems.

Well,he obv had a huge hp pool and when the game comes out if you get stunned for more than 2s you will probably be dead if attacked by 2-3 people. His GM stats are confusing you to think this will be something normal. Like every other PVP in any MMO if you get ganked by a couple of people you insta die.

player collision exists in AoC too
Looks cool and fun. But Confusing to know who is Ally and Enemy in siege. I highly recommended you make Ally names Blue and Enemy names Red or something while in siege.

I personally dont get how is it confusing, enemies having 2 big swords over theyr head and allies having a shield what can posibly be confusing about it. I woud get used to it after playing 15 mins of the game. And they cant use red coz its taken for pk system.

@@skanaus They were even confused in the video so clearly it is confusing. With the chaos and everything going on in an even more massive battle could be hard to keep track of. Not everyone is you. We should make the game better for everyone especially since it won't hurt anyone. Yes they can because it'd be red in siege only. They could also choose 2 different colors that are appropriate.
Looks good! Question, does it have in game music? It seems so quite, I'm used to having ESO music or FFXIV music playing in the background. Did he turn down/off the music for the upload? Or will it not have "ambient" music?
Does anyone know if it will have a dodging system or something to avoid hits?

I have to say I'm realy impressed with the games preformance even all the animations going around but the combat is still extremely floaty
I'm majorly hyped for this. What a good stream. I am looking forward to some of the character animations being smoothed out to look more varied and natural. The running can look a bit robotic. Also, I hope there will be some mechanics to avoid being cc locked to death nonstop. Recently got back into GW2 WvW with the wife and I think we will love playing AoC together. We are hoping you guys glean much inspiration from gw2s combat system. Thank you for your efforts!
