The 2023 US Open main draw runs from August 28 - September 10 in New York City at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center. The tournament takes place for the 143rd time and is the fourth and final Grand Slam of the year. Last year, Spain's Carlos Alcaraz and Poland's Iga Swiatek claimed the men's and women's singles titles. It was both players' first US Open title, with Alcaraz winning his first Grand Slam title and Swiatek winning her third Grand Slam title. This year, at the US Open, we’re set for another historic tournament as the world’s best tennis players head to New York. Look out for highlights, extended highlights, full matches, press conferences, on-court interviews, hot shots, compilations and more!

Even in defeat Sabalenka was all smiles, laughing, making jokes as well. She tried to hold off her emotions but we could see that while she was crying on the inside, still managed to answer Mary Joe’s questions as best she could. Sabalenka’s personality is so warm, adorable, a joy to watch her answer questions in her interview. Being so young am sure she can win many more grand slams and singles matches in years to come.

@@patriktoby9723 Maybe her words came across more clearly on TV than in the stadium. Also, sometimes players do fire their coaches after losing in a tourney, especially in one of the biggies. So maybe the crowd wasn’t immediately sure that she was just kidding. She was turned towards her team when she made the joke, which meant her face wasn’t fully on camera. Perhaps the crowd couldn’t see that she was grinning vs frowning. This reminds me that one of the top 10 male players, Stefanos Tsitsipas, fired his coach right after losing in the 1st round of this tournament this year. He announced it via Twitter.

She is most consistent in grand slams but throughout whole season I think Swiatek has little advantage over her. Given that last year she get to semfinal at Australian Open and won US Open her results at hard court grand slam are disspointing this year but she had also unlucky draws. At AO she get Rybakina in 4th round becuase Rybakina didn't get ranking points for previous season(due ban on russian players), so even though she won wimbledon she was seed 23 instead 4. At US Open she get Ostapenko who has best h2h against Swiatek in whole tour, and Ostapenko is most chimerical type of player who when playing her best get beat anyone, and also can be beaten up by everyone. Great example is her game agaist Swiatek and day later against Guaff. On the other side Sabalenak hast definitely the easiest draw at US Open, on her way to the final she didn't met any top 10 player. 1000 points of advantage is not so much given that few WTA 1000 and WTA Finals are ahead, Sabalenka is committing enormous number of unforced errors after she get WTA 1 spot (against Keys 39, against Gauff 46) and against nervous Sabalenka there are many players on tour that can win.

@@brazhnervnix3844 Iga won French Open, did pretty well in many big tournaments. 1300 points difference in WTA Race its not big given the fact that Iga has 7000 and Saba 8300 points. Still we have few WTA1000 and WTA Finals ahead, you can not do well only in small tournaments and at the same time still be in fierce competition for first WTA 1 spot against Sabalenka with 7000 points up to date. I would not be so sure that Sabalenka can handle pressure of being number 1 after watching her recent games. Against Keys she mad 39 unforced errors, against Gauff 46. Both games costed her a lot of nerves and were both were hard for her. I still can not believe how Keys lost that semifinal. Now Sabalenka experiences what Iga has to deal for past 75 weeks while being number 1. She will be under additional pressure and Sabalenka has many strong points but mentality is not her strongest side. Just recall her semifinals against Muchova(FO) or Ons(Wimbledon) when she started well leading 1:0 and lost both matches as todays final. Swiatek won every final she get qualified. Its worth to mention that next Season Sabalenka in January has to defend 2500 points (she won both Adelaida nad AO) and Swiatek defends just 180 at the same time. It means that Sabalenka can not rest know and she needs to build up advantage in rank.

Sometimes people punch their meal ticket without really earning it and this isn't really the first time she's self destructed. So if i was the coaching staff I'd be worried about the 'joke'

I understand what you're saying. But if you have the grand slam tournaments in neutral countries, then you won't get the massive attendance of the US Open. It would also be a huge challenge to build a GS tennis facility in a country that doesn't care much about tennis. I thought China might have a chance to get a GS tournament, but the Peng Shuai situation made that difficult.
