The 2023 US Open main draw runs from August 28 - September 10 in New York City at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center. The tournament takes place for the 143rd time and is the fourth and final Grand Slam of the year. Last year, Spain's Carlos Alcaraz and Poland's Iga Swiatek claimed the men's and women's singles titles. It was both players' first US Open title, with Alcaraz winning his first Grand Slam title and Swiatek winning her third Grand Slam title. This year, at the US Open, we’re set for another historic tournament as the world’s best tennis players head to New York. Look out for highlights, extended highlights, full matches, press conferences, on-court interviews, hot shots, compilations and more!

It would have been a perfect speech, but she spoiled it with her comments about naysayers. She needs to be fully gracious in victory, even to the naysayers, so that when the days of defeat come, everyone will still feel for her and not say:"Serves you right!" Hopefully, someone will be there to k8ndly sit her down and remind her that she has her entire future ahead, so she should not let this victory go to her head. I am glad she won, but I want her to not only be successful but to develop the kind of personality that makes her loved by all, even the naysayers.

“I don’t pray for results. I ask that I get the strength to give it my all.” For me, that’s the most striking line! At 19. Talk about meeting the moment. What maturity to thank her family, Billie Jean King, and the NY crowd. And to see the legacy of Venus/Serena on display! It’s an emotional moment.

@@ddhh1270 “In 2009, after watching Serena win the Australian Open on television, 4-year-old Coco announced to her parents that she wanted to be a tennis player. Six year later, she began training at the Mouratoglou Academy in France, overseen by Patrick Mouratoglou, Williams’ longtime coach. Two years later in Melbourne, Williams won the last of her 23 Grand Slam singles titles. Eight months later, Gauff became the youngest US Open girls’ singles finalist ever. She was 13. “I grew up watching her,” Gauff said a few weeks ago in Toronto. “I mean that’s the reason why I play tennis. Tennis being a predominantly white sport it definitely helped a lot. Because I saw somebody who looked like me dominating the game. It made me believe that I could dominate, too.” And it isn’t just a debt to Williams. Gauff was also inspired by Venus Williams, now 42. You can see elements of her game in the way Gauff plays, especially her serve. Corey Gauff, too, had an idol of sorts, a mentor from afar. His name was Richard Williams.”

Coco is very young - and many doubted that she had the age and maturity to win a grand slam. She used that criticism to make herself a better player. She could have folded after the 1st set. No unnecessary grunting, just pure grit, pure fight and pure passion towards the sport with humility and proper mental attitude within. I always felt like she was thrown into the tour a bit too fast at 15 yo with all that expectation coming from American media of her being next Venus/Serena. It looks like adding Brad Gilbert to the team was the best thing she'd ever done, I'm curious how the rivalry in WTA will look right now with Coco coming in as a strong contender even for the no1 spot if she keeps her mind in check.

Sabalenka had 20 unforced forehand errors midway through the third set. It is mind boggling that she will be world #1 on Monday. A very weak field. She hits the ball hard, very hard, with little accuracy. Coupled with her constant screaming, it is unpleasant watching her play. So awesome Coco go girl

Her on-court body language is next level...pure mission-oriented focus and determination. Then the explosion of genuine emotion of breaking down when she won, the great speech, and even the politeness of remembering to go back and shake the umpire's hand after such an emotional moment, paint her as an incredible lady...and she's still a teen. What?! "Thank you to the people who didn't believe," is also a pretty wise statement and inspirational to anyone in or out of sport.
