Aruba ClearPass Workshop (2021) - Guest Access #1 Aruba Instant Wireless Guest (getting started)

Ғылым және технология

It's time for all of your favorite topics: Guest Access and captive portals. We get started for Aruba Instant Wireless Guest and configure the ClearPass part and the first steps on the Instant. The CPPM Service and Templates Wizard brings in a few clicks all the services, profiles, policies that implement Guest with MAC Caching. So if a guest returns, later on, it will be allowed through without the need to sign in to the captive portal again. If you just add services, we will see that at this point the wrong service is selected. In the next video, I'll first do the re-ordering and fine-tuning of the services, after that we will finish our Guest Captive portal (promised!)
Workshop video overview, schedule, and discussion can be found on the Airheads Community: community.arubanetworks.com/c...

Hi herman. One question should the certificate uploaded to clearpass have as cn the name of the server on clearpass? Or a wildcard certificate is fine, which I can upload to both the virtual control and clearpass (the same certificate)

The CN is no longer relevant these days, it's about the SAN (and CN is typically copied as the first SAN). You can use a (the same) wildcard certificate for both ClearPass and the virtual controller if you have one.

That is not really possible. Plain HTTP is getting more and more problematic as browser start complaining that it is insecure. When you transfer credentials or personal information like self registration, SSL encryption is required. If you have your APs managed by Aruba Central, that comes with a trusted certificate (for the AP).

@hermanrobers, is it possible to create a Clearpass server certificate (for guest captive portal) from a domain wildcard certificate and do you have a manual on that? Thank you

Yes, you can use a wildcard certificate for ClearPass Guest Captive portal. In the Getting Started #3 video, I show how to install it. In the video, I use a domain wildcard. there is no need to convert/create if you have a wildcard certificate already. Link: kzread.info/dash/bejne/hW1-j5ODgZS8ZLQ.html
