Arturia Polybrute - Custom Patches (No Talking) - Basses, Arpeggiations, Huge Pads, Leads, and Drums

Музыка

100% Arturia Polybrute with no external FX. As I was creating each patch, I'd often find that one would remind me of a certain classic synthesizer. So I leaned in and tried to capture the vibe of the original instrument -- including a Roland Jupiter 6, Juno 60, D-50, and SH-101, a Yamaha DX7, an Elka Synthex, and a few classic Oberheims. They're not trying to be exact copies or anything.

    Thanks for demonstrating musical sounds that aren't drowning in their own reverb. So many PolyBrute demos have only reverb-heavy sounds, which I think is part of why it has developed a reputation on KZread for a certain lack of presence. The sounds here show that it's more versatile and can do presence, and that it can make sounds you'd actually want to use in a track. And if you ever make these patches available I'd be interested along with several others here.

    I like the fact that you show us different custom 80s inspired sounds without constantly playing with the morph button. I understand that morph is a cool feature of this synth but I prefer seeing it being used when it actually makes sense, ie not every 2 seconds like other demos. I think this synth really captures the vibe of the 80s and it sound really fat. I hope this synth will show other synth companies that it's possible to be successful in the market with an analog synth that innovates and is not simply a re-issue of a vintage synth of the 80s.

    @liantrosretrospectiva4134. Same here. The Polybrute sounds too thin and bright to do the vintage sounds I’d want from it. It seems easier to get those vintage VCO sounds from a REV 2 (and that’s a DCO synth!)

  • @kierenmoore3236

    @kierenmoore3236

    3 ай бұрын

    @liantrosretrospectiva4134 Prophet 6 has good VCOs and limited options, so it’s easy to get good (but more limited) sounds from it - for sure. The REV 2 has good DCOs, and loads of options, so it takes more programming skill (experience) to find the sweet soots, but it is far more versatile. Using the gated sequencer of the REV 2, it is possible to sound like a lush VCO synth if however-many voices (up to 8 or 16) - but most people don’t know this is possible, let alone how to do it …

    and the "funny" thing is, each one has something special and unique enough to justify having them anyway, no matter if you own "the next one". I have all 3 Minis and the Poly but sometimes I do lust at the MatrixBrute's I/O capabilities since the MB2/MB2S don't have preset save/recall. Also, the filters have been evolving and none of them have the exact same Steiner-Parker+Brute resulting sound, which is cool too, for diversity.

    @@andivax well, in theory yes because of the same OSC types (though a bit tamed for Poly voicing) and Filter 1 being also the same type (again, with Brute factor adapted for Polyphony). I honestly never spent much time trying this specifically since I have both but I can say that the PolyBrute can be a mean 2xOSC mono-synth too (plus w/UNISON) though it'll always be a little different from an MB2 or a MxB Probably the MatrixBrute would be better oriented to "replace" an MB2 than the PolyBrute.

    @@insidesynthesis Have you by chance figured out Arturia's envelope settings menu? They appear to offer a multitude of envelope curves to choose from but instead of following industry norms and convention they decided to, in typical Arturia fashion, not follow convention of course. Instead of explicitly calling out the curves in the menus or user manual they have these cryptic names for respective curve settings; like "fast" or "standard" etc. Which is pretty kinda annoying when you consider that say exponential curves start off slower then accelerate to target level. Is that "fast" or "standard"? What envelope curve settings do you use for Roland sounds? Eighties Roland analogues had exponential curves for ADR stages I think.
