Sound of: Arturia PolyBrute Synth (Warning: My presets, so not only but lot of Dark & Disto sounds )

More Presets with and Without Effect here: • Sound of: Arturia Poly...
Hello,
Happy to share this one with you ❤
I m lucky enough to be part of the sound designer team for the Arturia PolyBrute, here is a walkthrough demo of some Presets I m working on(I'm also working on official demos for Arturia which will be much more complete) .
On this demo I didn t add any effects except a very little Mastering ( Little compressor and Limiter) so all the effects you can hear come from the synth. It s better if you listen to this demo with good Speakers with Sub or good Headphone especially the bass presets.
I didn t shoot too close because this version is a pre Factory version and some typography are not exactly the same on the final version.
You have to know that is a demo of my sounds , it didn 't cover at all all the possibility of the Synthesizer and also I m not a "real Keyboard Player". Check the really nice Demo of Loopop ( • POLYBRUTE Review // +7... ) or BoBeat ( • ARTURIA POLYBRUTE - My... ) to have a better idea of the versatility of the synth.
Few info about the PolyBrute: It s a 6 Full Voice Analog Polyphonic Synth with 2 filter/voice , Morphing possibility and lot of nice controller option ( like the Morphee , the Ribbon and a pressure-sensitive Keyboard ) and 3 digital effects.
I really love to use this synth, it's really inspiring.

@@SoundProvider I second that. Your sounds and playing are immediately highlighting what differentiates this from other gear. I think I'm more inspired by this than the Moog One. I'm hearing much more personality to the sounds of the PolyBrute. I'm hearing really clear sonic statements. What I am hearing takes me right back to the MemoryMoog I once owned. Very interesting indeed. That kind of power coupled with etheral moods. Simple oscillator tones morphing right into complex and compelling soundscapes. Wonderful! The only question I have is: why didn't they go all-in and add Polyphonic Aftertouch? And it's kind of odd the criticism I'm already reading about this only being six-voice. I think that's all you really need sometimes in terms of playing polyphonically. Limitations are a good thing for expression and creativity. The MemoryMoog was six-voices. The Prophet was five-voices. But there you are, synthesists disagree lol : ) What I like best about six-voices is the way the voice priority becomes part of the sound. Playing a chord that sustains, then playing the next chord and hearing some of the previous chord notes vanish as the new ones are heard. That is an underutilized expression which is a sound we grew up listening to. That sudden absence of a sound, of a note. And anyway, many players will (at the most) only use two notes in the bass end and three-four notes in the top end. Note many players hold down 8-note chords. The PolyBrute should have been the soundtrack to the new Dune movie. Hoping we get to hear this instrument underpinning some great Sci-Fi movies very soon.

Yes all the other demos evolve around the cheesy sound patches anyone can generate on any other way cheaper synth. I don't know what's up with those guys. For me, if the synth doesn't have the fat bottom, it's worthless. And that's almost every other synth except MOOG. But then again, this thing is full analog - just like MOOG. I guess I had to throw my 5 cents in....

You make a great publicity to Arturia. Your studio is very cool... it looks like a submarine cockpit ! It must be a real pleasure to make music in this condition ! Well done, you're awesome and thanks for your smashing video !

Hi mate, enjoyed the video of your presets. The polybrute certainly sounds great. I'm trying to decide between the polybrute or the irridium keyboard version. I'm into evolving sounds and soundscapes and dramatic sometimes dark drones. Which do you think out of the 2 would be best for this? I really love the polybrute hands on control where as the Irridium seems a lot more menu diving and screen time. However both are very capable. I'm really struggling to decide and can only afford one of them. I want to enter into the field of sound design for commercial and possible film. So your advice on these 2 synths would be extremely useful.

Super nice sounds! My main synth is a Rev2 and despite only 6 voices this thing has a pretty fat character which sounds great to my ears. Arturia has been slowly stepping up their game with time in my opinion, but the competition at this price point is severely stiff so they definitely needed to have this thing sound great in order to have a chance. I think they've done quite well and its sound is very unlike most other Analogs I can think of.

I love the overdrive you're getting around the 1:40 and 4:10 mark. Are you using the Brute Factor or Distortion on the filters to achieve that? On my synth, those knobs don't do much to the sound, so I'm wondering if they're busted. Thanks in advance and great work!

Trololo Inc ® Dave smith synths are world class and pro 3 is great but it can’t do real time step sequencer recording , meaning what you play and record plays back ...every step has to be programmed .....if you hold a note for a bar and play 16th notes the brute will record that in real time

Good question (I m asking myself) depend of Money/Place/Sound you like, also it depend if you have the Matrix or not, I feel the Poly is more versatile, it's easier to get out of the "medium Brute" sound (some people love it, some other don't) and have a lot of unique and very Smart ideas (Morphee/ribbon/editor/effects...), it s also more Mature synth. But the Matrix still have some unique feat and sound. They are from the same family but not exactly the same character (hope it can help you)
