Artist Interview: Anish Kapoor | Kochi-Muziris Biennale 2014
Anish Kapoor, b. 1954 in Bombay.
Lives and works in London.
Anish Kapoor did his schooling in India before briefly moving to Israel en route to stints at the Hornsey College of Art and the Chelsea School of Art and Design. Since 1973, he has been residing and working in England.
Kapoor's work has been exhibited at numerous art forums and shows around the world, including in Istanbul, Seoul, New York, Kiev, Venice, Bombay, Rio de Janeiro, and Tel Aviv. He is also famous for public commissions like 'Orbit' at the London Olympic Park, 'Cloud Gate' at Chicago, and 'Ark Nova' at Matsushima.
In this interview, Kapoor talks about the significance of the element of scale in sculpture. The possibility of scale overwhelming the viewer invokes the notion of the sublime. Kapoor discusses his interest in the creation of meaning at the point of contact between the work and the viewer.

He spoke so much about stuff...touching everything flowing round and round. Eventually just questions of his minds. All artists pose questions... Hardly anyone has any answer...
