Articulated wings ornithopter | rubber band powered bat
Hiii guys!!!
This is my first step for making articulated wings ornithopter, specially with rubber band powered model so I hope you like it.
Secondary wing movement is happen without any mechanical linkages, still it's result it good. Because of the regular rubber band not generate enough & constant energy to rotate a crank, it slowly goes drown but it glide very long distance as you can see the video also.
More videos on the way ....
Cool if you subscribe
Material that you need :
1) piper wooden strips ( you can use balsa wood also)
2) hollow plastic tube
3) plastic bead
4) paper clip for crank
5) bamboo sticks
6) thread
7) polythene bag
8) hey shrink tube
9) fevibond glue for wings
10) plastic collar band
11) scooby strings for end stop
12) plastic card connecting rod
13) rubber band
14) super glue

If that is your first attempt at making one of those, and it flies like that, then you have a bright future ahead of you. Cool build 🙂

Simplest articulated wing mechanism yet such has puzzled me for years. Years ago my son needed a project for school, made of scrap materials. Gee I build planes much scrap have I...oops watching ebooks with grandkids. Anyhow I had drawn a dragon for a short story, what if ? Scraps of foam made the balsa and tissue the wings . Did I mention the project was due the next day kids . About 10 pm the boy went to sleep, at 3 am scales painted, it was done but then, it felt like it might fly ...I had to know tossed off back deck it was tail heavy....going back to the table a small screw caught my eye, screwed into the mouth of the dragon deep into the throat back to the deck. She caught a slight breeze and away she went, out across the yard over the back fence ...oops, now I had to recover it without waking the neighbors dog ... JasonBorne would have been proud of me stealth ...recovered as I closed the rear door, the sound awaken , the beast beyond the fence. Dragon on table off to bed. 330 am. 6am kids up getting ready for school...boy wakes me, WHY ! ... I go outside with him we toss dragon, it lands just shy of the fence..for the next two weeks I am ask to build more in self defense, I post drawings and instructions to electronic builtin board at school . It was good so I built a larger one, put a motor on it hard to ontrol. Articulated head neck a d tail ...it failed but looked neat. That brings me to articulated wings why not , small motor 3 d printed gear box, carbon fiber spar....oh no another 3am project . Thanks for sharing your design .

Why not just glue a piece of fabric to reinforce those joints rather than wrapping with thread?

  • @robambrose4199

    @robambrose4199

    Жыл бұрын

Fabric might be too heavy as it's made from lots of thread instead of just a few strands, and with thread you can wrap it around the whole strut from below too, to hold it on better.
