I’d love to take our kids. We are about four hours away so we would want to do the creation museum, too. Glad to see Catholic family go and hear about their experience. Ken Hamm is a young earther, I think people in the comments here are confused because Catholics completely believe the creation story. The difference in Hamm and Catholicism would be in that he believes in a literal interpretation of the creation story with no sway at all, where as we believe it, but don’t necessarily fit into thinking it was 6 human days that it was created. It is Gods time, not human time, so each day was a day for God. Hope that explains. Catholics do believe in creation. The creator of the ark believes in Young Earth. (I think Heather is saying creationism meaning young earthers. I could be wrong.)

Thank you. I was just coming to the comments to figure that out. :-) I don't know where I fall on this one and don't really feel like it's worth putting a lot of emphasis either way. But it's interesting to see what different religions believe.

As an Australian, I was so excited to see your trip to the Ark! I actually met Ken Ham many years ago when I was at High School. He used to tour around different schools giving talks in the lunch hour, just to offer a different view to evolution. Thankyou though for pointing out that it is not a salvation issue. Glad you got to experience our kangaroos too. I enjoy your channel, Heather, even though I'm Anglican & not Catholic. The way you explain your faith really dispels a lot of things that non- Catholics hear about Catholicism. Thankyou, God Bless!

To those who are confused about what “creationism” means. Creationism usually refers to a belief in a literal 6, 24-hour days of creation, and that the earth is only 6000-10000 years old. Catholics are allowed to hold to this view, but they are also allowed to believe that God created all living things via evolution. But if you believe the latter as a Catholic, you still have to believe that Adam and Eve were real people and truly all of our ancestors, there was a real fall into sin etc. Catholics are free to believe either one of these views of the creation story.

Yes both are true. Augustine’s Latin Bible copy had some copy errors, so he tried to entertain special transformism ( created in both actuality and in potential for later actuality) but always literally created by God in literal 6 days.

I recently attended a homeschool conference in Kentucky (we live in AL, so, not near KY) and while I was gone for the day, my husband took our youngest, 13 and 15 boys, to the Ark Encounter. I was hesitant to suggest it mainly because the originators are “related” to Answers in Genesis, a group that us anti-Catholic. I hate to give our hard-earned money to anti-Catholic groups, for sure, but our guys did feel that it was worth while this time. It does give perspective of the size of the Ark, for sure. Since we were visitors to the state, my guys had a great time at the Louisville Slugger Museum in downtown Louisville. Not religious, of course, but it was interesting to see how bats were made and the museum.

The American Bishops have a real broad spectrum on a lot of things but creationism is still probably more often the most held view - even in America- with more traditionally catechized families having a strong theology around creationism. That spans the sciences as well as faith.

As far as creationism and Catholicism, it's interesting to read City of God by St. Augustine and see how similar his beliefs on early human history as to modern creationists. Origen wrote of "the Mosaic account of the creation, which teaches that the world is not yet ten thousand years old, but very much under that." And St. Augustine wrote: "Some hold the same opinion regarding men that they hold regarding the world itself, that they have always been . . . . And when they are asked, how, . . . they reply that most, if not all lands, were so desolated at intervals by fire and flood, that men were greatly reduced in numbers, and . . . thus there was at intervals a new beginning made. . . . But they say what they think, not what they know. They are deceived . . . by those highly mendacious documents which profess to give the history of many thousand years, though reckoning by the sacred writings, we find that not 6,000 years have yet passed." Just thought this would be interesting to investigate!

Great review of the Ark! I'd love to bring my family there sometime. Also, love the close-ups of beautiful Maria! One thing, though... Catholics absolutely believe in Creation. Darwin developed the theory of Evolution, (changing from one species to another- ape to human), in an effort to disprove the existence of God, and is against Church teaching. Microevolution, (slight changes within a species), however, is accepted by the Church. Thanks again, and God bless you! ❤️🙏

Interesting that Catholics don’t believe in Genesis and the Bible account of creation. I guess I am new to this teaching. I thought there is only two beliefs creation or evolution. Evolution teaches that there’s no God involved in the creation of this world and then Catholics claim to believe in God. How strange? Evolution is a theory not a fact and science without God is what? I’m Catholic and believe in creation because the Bible says God created everything, I don’t read in the Bible that God used evolution to create man or animals. I don’t know how people can believe a crazy man like Darwin who married his biological sister had children that had genetic defects and then toss them aside because they weren’t perfect. How can anyone believe this man who didn’t believe in God and wanted to disprove there is no God. I don’t understand.

The view of The Bible being only limitedly inerrant , only inerrant in faith and morals… has been condemned by the Catholic Church at least 4 times, and all the early church Fathers and Doctors have taught unanimously in the literal interpretation of the Bible, true history, true science, true to Him who is the Way, the Truth, and the Life.

Hi, glad you went and posted, thank you. We’re glad Catholics are going there 😇. I don’t know what you’ve been told, but the official and Authentic teaching of the Magisterium of the Catholic Church is that the Bible is completely inerrant, not just in faith and morals. This means the Bible is inerrant also in its scientific claims and history, including the great flood. Pope Pius X wrote “Evolution is the chief doctrine of the Modernist” heresy (in Pacendi Dominici Gregis). Catholics have always believed that God created the world in six literal days, and the age of the universe is exactly as God revealed in the Bible, and Jesus also referred to those same Scriptures. Do you know God enough to trust Him completely when he tells us something… like Divine revelation? Pope Leo XIII wrote that the Scriptures are to be taken literally, in the most obvious sense, unless there is grave or clear reason to interpret it otherwise, and that symbolic and spiritual interpretations must serve the literal and historical meanings first (Providentissimus Deus). Your views are common among Catholics, but do not match the written documents’ point of view. Pope Pius XII wrote (in Humani Generis) that a period of discussion was opened to consider whether Catholics could believe the special transformist point of view ( theistic evolution ), although it’s conditions for staying faithful can now be shown to rule out any and all forms of evolution theories, also adding that seminaries and Catholic Schools are forbidden to teach theistic Evolution as fact or settled. There is supposed to be an oath of fidelity to the Magisterium, against the modernist heresy, to be sworn by all Catholic Catechists, and teachers, but it has been neglected by most for a long time. For more on Catholic teaching, please see Foundations Restored foundationsrestored.com ( faithful Catholic site), the Kolbe Center for the Study of Creation (faithful Catholic site) Kobecenter.org , and Restoring Truth Ministries restoringtruth.org (also faithful Catholic site). Blessings, Pax Christi

My Jesuit Catholic School taught that MOST of Genesis is a Myth of Origin written to make sense of their purpose on this Earth during the Babylonian Exile. Therefore, we can only find Religious Truths from the Bible and other religious documents, but all historical and scientific truths MUST be backed up by modern day science, archeology, or well kept history.

That is not what the Catholic Church officially teaches. The Jesuits have been spreading false teaching for some time(decades) now. They don't hold the Faith. You should know this about them, it is common knowledge to many. Do your duty and homework to know what the Church actually teaches, your soul depends on it and it is required of you.

I’m a cradle Catholic and I’ve faithfully done all of my catechism and sacraments and I believe in evolution AND genesis. 1) God’s hand is in everything 2) We don’t know how long the “seven days” were during God’s creation 3) I believe science and faith can co-exist

I think it may be that the creator of the Ark encounter is a young earthed who believes in a literal interpretation of creation, where as a Catholicism believes in the creation story but leaves it open that it doesn’t have to be literally 6 days of creation. Each day is Gods time, not human time. Hope that makes sense.

You'd be better off going to Big Bone Lick - with actual (dead) dinosaurs and more to it than a bunch of signs on walls.

I love your videos, but I think you are confusing creationism with evolution. We Catholics believe fully in creationism, but deny that human species evolved from animals, etc.

Perhaps I need a definition of evolution. If you mean that changes happened to the stature and look of man, I can see that but that man was from ape or other species and not created by God, then I wouldn’t with all respect disagree.
