I feel most of them in the crowd don't actually know when the original song ends and hence keep shouting each time Ari pauses to take a breath, thinking that was the end of the song 💀

She collaborated with a group of engineers from MIT that had already begun the design of the gloves before they met. Doesn’t mean that she’s not great, but those guys deserve some credit

I understand fans are absolutely gobsmacked over her talent but I wish more people would understand that when a performer introduces something that's new to them & goes into detail over the difficulty & precision it requires & are very obviously trying very hard to concentrate people would just take that time to listen & be respectful instead of screaming the entire time. This is an incredibly difficult song to sing even when the gloves & synth aren't involved so props to her, she did very well.

This song is such an emotional song. She literally fights the tears back in parts of her performance.

I’m so grateful for this. Watching a respected artist pay respect to an artist they love, and really doing the song justice, is a wonderful thing.

It's cute that she has trouble going so low but does it anyway because she loves the song and can still pull it off. She is a great vocalist, no matter what anyone says, and it's endearing to watch her develop as an artist.

Her lows have improved so much since then. If u listen to her Safety net performance video in the second chorus she harmonises with Ty hitting an E3 with ease (E3 is low for higher voices). Also in her my hair performance video she showcases her lows and they’ve improved so much which makes me so proud. 😭

These gloves are amazing but look so difficult to use

Just search Imogen Heap Hide and Seek Live and if it isn’t from back when the song came out 14 years ago and is more recent within like the last 7 years to present then there are lots of performances that you can see her use them :) on the tiny desk video she explains how they work but the actual performance/sound of that set is not like the original. The videos from her more recent actual tour of it are much more like the original :)

i assume that it's because she screwed up a couple of times and doesn't want to put out a recording with a few mistakes in it, i don't think many of us care too much about it, the fans that where there certainly don't care judging by their loud obnoxious screams. but i think she cares, whouldn't be suprised if we see a studio cover of hide and seek at some point

please watch imogen heap sing this song in her NPR tiny desk concert, its incredible, this is a great homage from ariana like she mentioned, but that npr version is insane. imogen also talks a bit about the process of collaborating in the creation of the gloves and about the gestures involved in using them, which is v cool

It's funny when I see other people remember Victorious. She was amazing in that. I was excited when she started releasing songs, but then was so disappointed that I couldn't understand more than half of what she was singing. I can still appreciate her voice, just not as much.

that's how the original song is. there's no instrumental, so the voice pitching is how it's supposed to be. look for a different cover then cause hide and seek is not a song that's supposed to be stripped to one voice :/

I think she didn't gesture in the correct direction in the bridge (mm what you say). That's why it didn't sound right. Forward seems to signal the I (root) of the key - Bb in this case Down is the V chord of the key - F To the side is the vi chord of the key - Gm Up is the IV chord of the key - Eb In the verses, the chords are Bb F Gm Eb and she correctly gestures Forward -> Down -> Side -> Up In the bridge, the chords are Eb Bb Gm F. So she should have gestured UP -> Forward -> Side -> Down She's still a great singer, and Imogen Heap is an amazing artist and visionary.
