The morning after we ran Hell's Revenge and Fins & Things, we woke up super early and drove just south of Moab to Area BFE. Area BFE is a privately owned rock crawling park of 320 acres that is full of insanely difficult rock crawling trails that punch you in the face with super glassy rock, large boulder climbs and monstrous ledges. Most of these trails are best suited for very well built rigs and buggies piloted by experienced drivers. These trails are way too big for our overlanding Jeeps with 35" tires and roof top tents. We arrived at Area BFE and met with Corey who told us that the park was still officially closed for a little while longer, but he graciously let us wheel and score a couple gems: Minor Threat and Green Day trails, which are the easiest trails in the park. I kept the footage fully raw without music so that you can hear the metal scraping the rock, the tires slip and then gain traction, and the engines rev. Think of it as those silly sound videos that everyone makes and watches. Soon after we aired down our tires we entered into a day long shred session with the park all to ourselves. This was a much needed reprieve from the crowded Moab area trails the day before packed with rigs and loud side by sides. There was no wind and the silence with the engines off was peaceful and therapeutic.

It is. I just wish I had a buggy like you. I had a stretched and linked YJ on 38s for a while. Sold it when we moved back to Colorado. I don’t know what to do. I love all wheeling but for the last two years we’ve been running Colorado mountain trails and I’m getting bored. I love obstacles and challenges. So my buddy Camron in this video just sold his Gladiator and is building a LJ on 37s. He’s swapping in JK axles but I want something I can run bigger trails with 😭😭😭

If I can ask a question, how does it feel in the JKU with the RTT up on top? I crawl out on the East coast with my JLU Rubicon on 37s and 3.5” lift. Have a RTT coming to me soon (a Freespirit also) and wondering how all that weight up top feels on the rocks.

I hated it. Especially in off camber situations. So much for low center of gravity! This tent is massive and weighs 180 lbs. I think it depends on the tent weight. This is a Hilton hotel sized unit which I absolutely love for camping, but not wheeling hard trails with it. I passed on several optional obstacles that I usually run on this trip for two reasons. All of that weight being so high and I didn’t want to wreck my tent (I don’t care about scratching my Jeep or laying it on it’s side a little bit) but I don’t want to wreck my domicile. I’ve since bought a trailer and am finishing building it. It’s more of a utility/cargo trailer on 35s but not for hard trails. I hate packing up the tent every morning and setting it up every night. Now we go and set up camp and park the trailer and go wheeling! I think if you have one of the smaller lighter tents you wouldn’t even notice it, but this I could really feel up there. - Geoff

@@Colorado4x4 is that the 80" tent? It seems impossible to find any video of a Jeep with the FSR 80 on it.

Yep that is it. Free Spirit High Country 80” Premium. It fits on there. I ended up building a trailer and now have it on the trailer but I didn’t have any issues with the tent on the Jeep. I have it set up so I can easily swap it to the Jeep if I need to

Oh man we love the tent 💯. No issues with it at all!! I just didn’t like wheeling hard trails with it on top of my Jeep because I didn’t want to mess it up 🤣 but it has a ton of room and is very comfy. It’s a well made tent
