    as a native speaker of Spanish, it is encouraging to hear that almost 40% of Basque vocabulary are loanwords from the language I already speak or were borrowed from its ancestor (Latin)

    And they're very consistent too! There's a huge number of verbs that are obviously from Latin/Spanish but have been Basque-ified, even if there is also another native-Basque synonym. So learning Basque as a native Spanish speaker would be super fun, in my opinion! (though I will never know 😔)

    Benetan ongi ikasi nahi duzu? Ikusi Dragoi Bola osoa euskaraz ahalik eta azkarren. Z Bukatzerako noka bertsotan aritzeko trebe zara pilotalekuren batean. Euskaldunzahar dixit.

    It basically means ‘crazy’ or ‘enraged’, it’s a word that comes from the language of the Vikings when warriors would fight ferociously. In my case, I guess it sort of means “crazy about Basque” 😄
