Are You Practicing With PURPOSE? | Practice Like A Pro

Coming from the iPhone because I just wanted to share some knowledge I heard on a podcast featuring Pete Cowen. He talked about INTENTION in practice, so I wanted to pass it along in my own words & feel. You can listen to the podcast right here 👉🏼

This will take practice to a whole different level. Just recently upgraded my bag from top to bottom and my focus to this point has been delivery to impact, tendencies of my “misses” with the new clubs and yardages 1/2, 3/4, and full shots all the way thru the bag. This week I’ve really started focusing on wedges. The intention is to build and groove consistency from around the green back to the tee. Enjoyed these tips. Gives me some perspective to be more focused and intentional with every shot and “grade” each shot based on that specific intention.
Gym time! 💪🏽. Intentionally being intentional on a practice session! Absolutely agree 💯
Great Content Andrew, as always. I can't count how many times I've just gone out and whacked a full bucket in an hour and felt more lost than when I started. Going to start to incorporate this in my next session. Keep the posts coming!
This might be one of your best videos yet. Great stuff on the mental aspect of practice. I am currently rehabbing from shoulder surgery, and haven't been able to swing a club since mid-May - really frustrating. But when the time comes, I can take this to the range. Thanks!
Great reminders here! And love the "time" analogy. So jealous you get to practice off of grass too! lol
This video was good and bad! I just got diagnosed with a stress fracture in my back so I am out for a long time. Keep up the great vids!
You should be at the US OPEN THIS WEEK !!! Thank you for all your time and wisdom and always wish you the best in pursuing your dreams !!!!😀😀🙏
keep posting, you are getting me through quarantine!!!

Thanks so much Declan!
Thank you for videos like this.
Great thoughts Andrew! In my mind it’s better to practice for 3 hours and do it with a purpose then practice for 6 and just mess around and hit balls.

Absolutely!
Very fascinating upload!! Thanks AJ

Great advice!!!
Great video!
I like the emphasis on the one handed swings. I’m left handed but I swing a club right handed as I do baseball and hockey. I need to feel more comfortable with the right hand. I can feel my left arm pull through to hard at impact.

Good luck!
Oh just seen that you were back in Florida. Never mind my other comment on the other video about Canada. I am in Burlington right now, would have been cool to meet up. What other courses you recommend up here?
Getting close to 30k. Congratulations.

Thanks Dan!
I really feel like I need to redial my practice. I just hit wedges the other day with no sense of purpose. Just tried to get close to the hole and didn't really focus on my technique at all 😑
Nice video. What shoes are you wearing?
Great insight!!

Great content! How do you feel about practicing on mats vs grass?
@andrewjensengolf
3 жыл бұрын
I’m indifferent to it... if you can only get mats, you just have to make the most of it
Andrew! Love the content! When is the next break 60 challenge coming out?

First week of every month, so it’s coming sooooon!
Hey I was watching you I am a junior golfer and I am going to try to be like you
Do you have any advice on transferring practice to the course, I have a problem where I hit really well on the range and however long I practice it just doesn’t transfer to the course. I try to make a checklist in my mind and do the same thing I do on the range but it just doesn’t happen on the course.
@andrewjensengolf

Think less. Gotta just let it happen. I understand that’s very simple in answer, but hard to accomplish. There’s no real tips or tricks, you just have to trial and error what works for YOU when it comes to freeing it up on the course
Good one bro!

I wish I had seen this before I practiced today😂
If you're ever interested in playing some club link (home course: Eagle Creek) courses in Ottawa I'd love to take you as a guest one day! Let me know and ill hit you up next time you're here!
Where can I get that polo? It looks awesome!

It’s 1764... from the July Short Par 4 box
So, to clarify, your intention in this session was a feel? I'm practicing into a net at the moment and have found intention hasbeen hard compared to being on the range
@andrewjensengolf
3 жыл бұрын
The intention changes from set to set, it wasn't an overall intention to the session... that would be next to impossible to maintain

Do you ever feel you over think the golf swing? I sometime feel I over complicate it and make it worse?
@andrewjensengolf
3 жыл бұрын
Yeah, at times... it happens to everyone though. You just need to practice PLAYING more. Do some fun games or challenges that take your mind of the technique

OhhDanni This has been one of my problems while golfing. I am very analytical on a lot of things and some times i try and do to many things perfect at once, and then screw it up even more. One tip i learned from my father was to just five steps and hit it. 1. Address Distance 2. Address Wind 3. Address Lie 4. Address Ball Position 5. Just Hit It
Does that go for pregame warm up as well?
@andrewjensengolf

Even more so. If you’re just going through the motions during a warm-up, what are you engrossing into your body/mind right before you play??

Your killing us if your a shitty golfer what does that make us 😂😂😂. Your a great golfer just need a little tweak.
