@Andro mache British programs seem to hire the best actors for the main characters as compared to the ones that look most like porn stars who can't act, as we so often do in America. This makes for good tv, I mean when they use actual actors and one can relate to real looking people. It's easier to sympathize with people who don't look fake! Often, in British Tv when they have a show about working class people, the settings tend to match what one might find in real life. Unlike in America where the majority of programs with working class people are set by the powers that be (i.e. suck) in homes and surroundings that people wouldn't be able to afford in a million years on the wages the characters would make in the real world! Also, the writers seem like they can actually write, especially comedy. I suppose the British produce better actors and writers because if a child does well in school they can afford to go to college no matter how poor their parents are. In this country we exclude half the population from ever getting to the point of becoming well educated enough to rise into a place where we as a country can enjoy the skills they might bring to the table! America's Tv industry is then limited to only part of the population due to college being too expensive (made worse by our having to pay out the nose for our medical care); we are then further restricted by the idiots who will only cast actors who look a certain way, that is to say some idiot's idea of Hollywood beauty. I'd take your dollar, but it's not even worth a British pound so I'll let you keep the change!

What you said is absolute truth. I think what made these actors do such outstanding performances is they gave their characters a mind set and carried it out, so the script lived, and their timing was perfect. They were the true meaning of an ensemble. Today's actors are so full of themselves all we see is: 'look at so-and-so play a police officer, doctor, homeless man...' that's what makes them so hum-drum predictable and boring. Then you have the publicity, promotion and so-called red carpet pomp and circumstance that hypes everything up to something it never was. They are hardly worth the cost of a ticket to go see them on the big screen or order it on your streaming account.

As our State Channel would do a weekend broadcast of "Are You Been Served" as well as other Brit Sitcom Marathons...

I watch it for Mr Humphries Mrs Slocombe Captain Peacock Mr Granger & Mr Lucas Oh hell i'd just say everyone😂🤭♥️
Love this show!
Mr Rumbold has been taken queer! and of course a quick response from Mr Humphries. This never gets old I tell you 😂😂😂
Great show. I've seen these episodes so many times I can't count that high, and I still get a charge out them. I'd choose a British sitcom over an American one any day

I also 100% agree. And before I get some hate, if you (anyone) did some research they'd clearly see just how much Americans "took" from British comedy is, like, wow. 💜

American comedy's are based on stupidity, Britcom is witty and sophisticated, that point is well established.
Hilarious show I remember as a young boy watching this with my Grandfather. Brings back so many great memories
Thanks for the memories! My daughter and I watched this series back in the nineties and every night we would laugh hysterically! Nothing will ever top this comedy!
