    Just bunch of triggered Canadians here in the comment section awkwardly emphasizing that they're nice while passive-aggressively calling out the show's host pretty much proves the video's point IMO. And as the foreigner who lived in Canada for many years, I can't agree more as well. They always brag about how super nice Canadians are, but then always move on to bashing other countries, especially the US, for being morally inferior. I always think "Didn't you guys said you were the nicest people just minutes ago?" And alas, if you point out any issues about Canada, get ready to listen to their pathetically passive-aggressive excuses for hours. Canadians are like a popular school guy who asks out a disabled kid to the school prom to get praises from everyone and immediately ditches her once the prom starts and no one is looking.

    I have however travelled the world and met all kinds of people. And most of those people are nice. And then we get to Canadians….. It is the utmost exercise in hypocrisy, by far the defining trait. The public image is of the do good and fair persona, but behind the scenes, tearing people apart is the national pastime, many times inflicting permanent damage. You really need to watch your back in Canada, whereas elsewhere, you tend to know where you stand right away.

But chileans are way more honest than Canadians, I lived in Canada and everyone was so so fake it was unbearable, I hate all that fake politeness. I like the Australians way more, most common words on Australian streets are Sorry and No Worries and they ment it. Canadians and Chileans from remote regions are super simillat thou, very nice ppl.

    Londoners exhale in sorry. Like a three-peat sneeze: “Sorry-sorry-sorry!” A lot of those Canadian sorries sound like “Sorry - I’m not getting involved - don’t speak to me.” A lot of their body language showed fear too. Some disdain. Sorry. Just my observations.

    That "cart bumping" happened with me many times and didn't even get "sorry" or "excuse me". Canadians just wanna avoid talking but can give you passive aggressive look while they are at fault. One more thing Canadians love to criticize the USA so that they can feel better about themselves He showed the truth when he was using go bro and walking in streets. In really "not much sorry" and if your stuff fall nobody will come forward to help you. But in the USA, people will run to help you out

  • @AndrewAment
    @AndrewAment3 жыл бұрын

    From Pittsburgh and people suffer from the passive aggressive “sorry syndrome” as I call it. I moved out west and lived there for 5 years. When I lived there people and my friend taught me that “sorry is compulsive response” and would go on to discuss “psychologically saying sorry is proof you are guilty when you shouldn’t.” This is true. I used to have the sorry syndrome until I thought before spoke. Saying “excuse me” when I bump into someone or any other occurrences doesn’t make you look guilty. I grown so much out of my shell when i learned that people accept my TRUE personality. Canadians scorned me. I know too many of them that were so nice but i couldn’t get their phone number and I would overthink if i offended them... that is WRONG!!! No one should do that to you.

    From what I can tell, the real issue is that Canadians got their reputation for being friendly largely from previous generations, particularly the WWII generation and, basically, subsequent generations have lived high on that reputation while taking it for granted and not really living up to it. Many of the traditions and outward manifestations of politeness are more prevalent in some ways than in American culture... but the internal feeling behind it that gives it real substance and meaning have waned tremendously, especially with later aged baby boomers and Gen Xer's. Some of the the Millennial Canadians I've met have been the most condescending and therefore impolite and unfriendly little twerps I've ever met. Ironically... they are either completely unaware that their passive aggressiveness has become overtly hostile in some circumstances, or they just think Canadians are inherently "more polite" simply by virtue of being born north of the 49th parallel. That said... as a native of rural California and now a resident of "rural" Montana, I find that I relate more to those Canadians between Vancouver and Winnipeg than I do to most American urbanites. The cultural divide in both America and Canada is far more between rural and urban areas and I think rural Canadians and Americans all loath the typical condescending and unfriendly nature of all urbanites on either side of the 49th parallel.

    Canadian politeness is a façade. They are superficially polite and when they say "have a good day", they do it because they are programmed to do so . Two characteristic examples : 1) yesterday on the bus a frail Chinese lady was struggling to get her walker on the bus and the bus driver standing right next to her would not lift a finger to help her ,telling her instead " come on you are strong " and 2) I was going to my lawyer's office ,a man I had paid $6000 to do a job for me . I took 2 buses and 2 subways and walked 2 kilometers to get there . Upon arriving there ,I asked to use the washroom and the secretary flatly refused to let me do so . I begged her as I was really in the need to do so but she wouldn't let me . That is Canadian politeness in action .

    Bus drivers are not a good example, especially in big cities. I remember when my children were small, struggling with twins in front carriers and their folded double stroller, as well as their handicapped big sister, not yet 3 years old. The bus driver wouldn't help at all. The previous bus driver on that route would have given me a hand. Not this guy! As to the lawyer's office, if they are in a big building, there's usually a public washroom down the hall. If it was in a house, that's just ignorant!

Like I agree we're not all polite but c'mon son! Just because you put syrup on something don't make it pancakes! 😂

    Bet this man isn’t Canadian he doesn’t talk for everyone I’m pretty nice people have other stuff to say about me and I don’t care but this man he took it too a way other level when I say sorry I mean it because when I say that I did something wrong and saying sorry isn’t something wrong (if I’m being sorta rude I don’t really care ok I don’t mean that) but still I’m polite what this person is saying about Canadians isn’t ok (also people still Is has other stuff to say about me) I don’t judge people also why is this person saying this when he doesn’t have people to agree with him that much it matters how you treat them and how he is treating Canadians isn’t good he has to learn more about Canadians like I said before he doesn’t speak for all of us and when I hear something bad about who I am I ignore it until I can’t and this is something I can’t ignore because this hurts me and yes swearing is bad but your saying something that’s making like they don’t mean it like “sorry is bumming into some random person and your minds like there’s something weird about the thing you were doing” That’s not right and saying that about people isn’t nice even when it’s about something that wrong doesn’t that make you kind of the bad person huh ok I admit that I was harsh on him but still I don’t think it’s right but you said something bad about Canadians and I don’t like it ok and saying there not nice that’s kinda a dumb move because you were kinda insulting a lot of people I don’t like people who insult and that’s what you think but there’s other people in the world who don’t like your opinion and I’m one of them.

    I don’t find Canadians so nice. They are polite but it is fake. Most of them are cold and it is so hard to make friends, it is the North American individualism. They don’t have a lot of hospitality and they culture and curiosity levels are low. If I generalize I would say that they are passive-aggressive.

    Funny sort of. BC is like that. Anti-social. Your American stories must be from somewhere small town back east. Most Canadians are very nice especially back east. I’ve never had trouble with canucks east of the Rockies. West side-no way! Super rude. And Americans-don’t get me started. But...there are mean folks everywhere. And nice folks everywhere. Canadians do have a better sense of humour.

    Daryn Jones is annoying in this video but he's right about the inviting strangers for dinner. Americans are nosy, they want to know all about you. Canadians keep to themselves. We wave at our neighbours and that's pushing it.
