Arab Man Reacts to GOJIRA - L'Enfant Sauvage [LIVE at Red Rocks]

Музыка

Habibati! Bonjour! Bonsoir! Ca va? That's right! Our journey takes us to France with the MASSIVE, CRUSHING Gojira! This band blew me away! Their sound is so original, and they are just so f%($*#)% heavyyyy! I'm sorta glad they don't sing in French, because I'm not sure how that would've affected the heaviness of it all, although with a title like 'L'Enfant Sauvage' they almost tricked me!
Am I late to the Gojira party? I feel like I should've heard about them at this point.
Apparently Joey said that he's going to be expanding my palette a bit over the next few weeks. We're going heavy, and we're going international, and we're going to try to see what really makes all these varying sounds so universal.
Let me know in the comments what specific bands or songs you want me to check out and I'll point Joey in that direction.
Don't forget to like, comment, subscribe & turn on the notification bell, it really helps!

There is something about Gojira that makes me know that I’m listening to one of their songs. Like, I could have never heard the song, but the opening guitar riffs and I’m like “yeah, that’s Gojira.” Their tone is specifically unique to them. There is no question who you are listening to when one of their songs come on. Great video!

Gojira is probably my favorite band, and this song have a particular flavor to me. As my wife was painfully giving birth, after 19h of work, doctors pushed me out from the room as they had to do quickly a cesarean, they baby started to get tired apparently... It happened so fast, I didn't really understood what was happening, neither did my wife. In 20 seconds I just ended up alone in a room waiting for news from a nurse. I took my earphones, choosed the first Gojira song I found and played this song super loud again and again, trying to contain fear and not to think too much about what was going on, and about the fact that I can do nothing to help, until someone finally asked me to come. Things ended well, now my daughter is almost 2 YO, healthy and happy, and everytime I listen to this song I think about this day. I'm happy that you enjoyed this song too ;-) Cheers from France !

I mean there's also quite a lot of autotune in there to be honest. You can hear the difference between a polished live video like this one and a pure live performance where his voice fucks up way more often.

  • @jez_77

@@FlipperWolf Not really, thats not autotune, Joe has a lot of control in his pitch while screaming, he is a really talented vocalist although due to his unique technique and effort he puts into live shows, sometimes during shows late in the tour his voice cracks or he struggles to get higher notes cause his throat is just exhausted. If this one was autotuned or polished it would be perfect, but its not, there are slight imperfections here and there still

Other than maybe some reverb and stuff, the distortion on Joe's voice is completely natural, it's a vocal technique he uses, and he even admits that it isnt the healthiest technique. But this "melodic screaming" has become a staple for their music.

Famously tight band. Though this version seems a bit off in spots. Check out the studio version. Honestly though... One of the best metal bands on the scene right now. 👍

if you're branching out please do Scardust - there's good live videos of Arrowhead or Queen of Insanity, the latter definitely being the heavier of the two.

Unfortunately the audio quality in this one isn't the greatest, at least compared to the really good ones. Definitely check out their song "The Gift of Guilt" live at Brixton Academy, London. And how have you not fallen down the Jinjer rabbit hole yet?! Start with the live session (not to be confused with a live performance) of Pisces!

Very entertaining reaction. I dig your comments on this band and track 100 %. Not a fan of all screaming and growling either, nor of fluff and theatrical dramatics btw. I'm more of a prog/alt metal fan I guess. I think I like Gojira's quite technically tight approach to their proggy death metal tracks, even without clean singing. There's prob good reason Devin Townsend references Gojira at times.

If you like French experience, please try this one ! A smell like teen spirits cover on french TV from french Shaka Ponk band with Bertolet Sisters, playing their violins, and a whole choir : kzread.info/dash/bejne/q5Zswc5ufrKzaNI.html Be sure to have a huge journey with a growing emotionnal experience from the very start to the climax A piece of french touch mixing. If I rightly understood the way you love music, you will like that one.

I'd recommend you to react to studio versions of bands that are technical/progressive metal first, yes, they are great live, but to listen to everything, studio version is better for a first listen.
