I am so sorry for the loss of your husband. My husband died a year and half ago. I then got into the fish hobby and discovered MD on KZread. I have one planted betta tank. Always love MD's tanks.

Guys....this is too much. I'm so pleased that I could assist you in any way. Always stay positive. Sometimes life sucks, and although I never show it, I've been through my own hardships. All you can do is look for the sunrise in the next day and appreciate it no matter what. Take a moment each morning to focus on the good things and things can feel awesome again.

Win - You've really inspired me to get back into the hobby after leaving for a few years due to loosing my tanks to a terrible snow storm and power outage for several days. "WIN"- not had a chance to enter one of these before :) I live in Australia and I have 3 nano tanks. My first is a 40L tall tank with neon and ember tetra, Otocinclus and cherry shrimp. Its heavily planted and looks amazing. Started with a couple of plants, rocks I collected myself and wood branches from a dead tree out the front- low cost. Ive added heaps of different plants, upgraded the filter etc as ive gone. Second is a small 10L quarantine tank that is currently quarantining some pygmy cories and has cherry shrimp cleaning crew, floating and planted plants. My 3rd is a 40l tank containing a paludarium with about 20-25l water, floating, stem and epiphyte plants and a small cherry shrimp colony which is currently breeding like crazy!!

@@Amara1324 LOL! You have me entirely beat then, on all counts. Good for you with the fostering. I used to do palliative care fosters for the Toronto Humane Society (both dogs and cats), but my dog is a bit of a tricky one, and I did have 4 cats until recently, so the balance in the house was a bit tricky. My dog is older now, so I would consider fostering again once she's gone. Which hopefully won't be anytime soon!

Win- I’m currently live in Australia. I’m now owned one community 4ft tank and four of 20L baby tanks. I added this to my hobby since I was a kid back in my country which didn’t get a good care of it back then. Wow, awesome! I already have 4 bettas (plus other fish...) but I went to get some corydoras today, and ended up with another betta too. Oops! 😬 Since I just rescaped the tank, they can all quarantine in their new home - a heavily planted 30 gallon with a school of green laser corys, a school of false julii corys, and the new white betta. They look so good together, and the betta didn't even flare at any of them through the whole evening.

WIN- I am a 17 year old Dutchie, I have a 40L and 180L tank. The 40 is a shrimp tank, with some cories and chili rasboras, heavily planted as you would. The 180L is a community aquarium with angels and a few species of tetras. More fish-focused so less densely planted, although I'd love to do so one day!

I have 2 nano tanks and another nano tank that is cykling right now. I also have 2 60 litre aquariums. I have neon-/ cardinaltetras and some corydoras in one of the 60 litre tanks and a sieamese alge eater and some platys in the other. In the nano tanks I have platy fry and in one i have shrimp.

"Win" - Hey there, This is my 1st time doing one of these and actually able to enter for a chance. So far my life has been pretty rough but slowly pushing through with help of my friends and my Aunt/Uncle's. Having lived in New Hampshire for almost 11 years with my mother until she passed she was a huge animal lover and always had a simple fish tank that she always let me play with to make it even better. Then moving to Mass. To gather what was left from my grandparents after they passed I found a photo album with me as a kid with my grandfather with a big tank that was used to make a replica of one of our fishing spots that I had totally forgotten. My uncle who is from Guam had started a massive coral tank with shrimps, clams, and some really weird fish I had never seen. Watching and helping put it all together and seeing the final project through I really wanted to get back into fish tanking, but never had the actual time due to work. It would be nice to come home to see a fish tank that's alive to help calm the nerves of a hectic day by watching the fish be carefree without worry's.

WIN I have one betta tank. I had two. One of fish died after a year. He must have been older when I got him. Water parameters and all were good. I got my other betta a month before the second one, and he is doing very well. Had him for over a year. About 15 months. Both my tanks are planted. My husband died 18 months ago. Found MD after deciding to try the fish hobby. I am now a Grandma. I have my first grandchild. Most beautiful grandson ever. 😁 He is 4 months old. I'm 58.

However I have multiple tanks and indoor ponds with loaded perch,crappies,bass and sunfish and I will say that I get more excitement from watching native fish then the community tank Also the plants are massive which I was not expecting, all my Amazon swords are over 2’ tall with a lot of runners I am from Scotland and now live in Wisconsin USA Keep up the great work mate

Win- I recently medically retired from the Army and my husband recently asked me whats a hobby i want to start since ive been having a hard time adjusting. I use to be very active and run almost every day but unfortunately i cant do that anymore. I got to thinking and i realized its a good opportunity to finally try out planted fish tank with lots of beautiful fish. Funny story i never owned a fish until i joined the military, thought they might be a boring pet but i was wrong. One of my co workers started buying a bunch of bettas but putting them in TINY fish bowls. He had placed one on top of some shelves and i noticed it started collecting dust (and some of the other bettas were dying), so i stole the fish. I remember looking at this poor beautiful betta thinking what have I done i dont know how to take care of a fish. The more i got into researching how to give Patrick, is what i named him, a good life the more fun i started having creating a habitat for him to live in. Patrick has since passed but he lived a great 4 years after i stole him. I have a lil babe now and want to share this with him as well.

WIN- I am actually a marine biologist, working for my state in the Department of Environmental Conservation in the Bureau of Fisheries, so fish are my livelihood, but it has been almost a decade since I last had a tank up and running. I currently have a small tank with a twintail half-moon betta and a mystery snail, along with some (currently really ugly) dwarf hairgrass, anubias, a cardinal plant, and some water lettuce. I am looking forward to getting another larger community tank set up. This is actually my first time with a planted tank, so I has been a lot of learning.
