Upflow Overflow (Infinity) Bog Filtered Shrimp Aquascape
I developed this idea a few weeks back. I was thinking to myself, what would it be like to have an aquarium that resembles something like an infinity pool? As I pondered on the idea, I came up with a system that features an upflow bog filter system.
I honestly think it's a really fun idea and possibly something I'll fine-tune in the future. What do you think? Should I do it again? Also, what do you think about the project? Let me know down in the comments!

I was thinking like this too, but imagine building an enclosure which takes about half a room which is divided by Glass Panels with a regular sized door. And you Build something like a small "pineforest" with logs with roots at the bottom which go from the substrate up to the ceiling to immitate a forest, put in a little creak or water path and some nice Fern.

I thought of an idea that could be good for a 2nd version. Instead of using one mirror on the front bottom tank, make the bottom tank all out of glass, and use mirrors on all sides of middle support (which not only would make it look like there were more plants and rocks in the bottom, but might also give the illusion that the top tank is magically floating above the bottom tank even if its only at first glance).

I was thinking something like that as well. Honestly I thought the mirror in the front added literally nothing to the build and actually was more of a distraction than anything else.
Hands down one of the most creative aquascaping youtubers. The vivarium aspect is such a gorgeous effect that adds so much to it. If I were to attempt this build I'd probably design it for the corner of a room and have the waterfall only on one side, with the bottom tray extending only on that side and the front (for plants). I'd want to try and figure out a way to make the pump accessible for maintenance too. Absolutely stunning little tank though

This is one of the coolest nano builds I’ve ever seen. It would be really cool to have the overflow tank bigger with some sort of livestock in it, scaling the entire build up to 20-30 gallons
Wow this has got to be one your best builds. as far as running with it in the future, it would be super cool to do multiple tanks with overflows in a step-down pattern down to a bog filter that extends farther away in order to showcase some more plants in it. would be an awesome setup to do a betta in each of the step-down tanks
One of the main reasons I keep aquariums is because I love water, the relaxing movements and sounds, keeping fish and plants is a bonus. I like the idea of a fountain/aquarium myself and have been looking into doing something similar. I like how it turned out, you should definitely do more designs like this.

Super clever eco-filtering concept would love to see more like that. I hope we get updates on this tank - if it looks even better once it's a bit worn in looking or if the sides just get gunky from the overflow.
Another EPIC "tank"! Clever, Tanner! Well designed, and what minute problems were encountered, were easily overcome! The yellow neo's are the frosting on the cake! 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏

The frosted/diffused background really made this one pop, would look just as good at a home or office environment.

I really like how the lines of the tank soften into the exposed plants underneath.
This is incredible. I would buy this aquarium kit set up in a heartbeat without hesitation
Absolutely gorgeous - as always!! Count me in the squad that says don’t trust that check valve, though! I would suggest just extending the feed tube high enough that the water that drains wouldn’t overflow the base. Maybe just a couple inches (depending on the relative volumes). Should be easy to hide, and might increase flow with that check valve out of the circuit. Great design!!
Everything you make looks so unbelievably good I'm crying
Looks like a flowing creek especially after you added shrimps. It's so alive and refreshing, nicely done! I'd love to have that in my house and plant some of my favorite ferns with it.
That tank was awesome! Loved the yellow shrimp, excellent choice.
That’s incredible! Your talent never ceases to amaze!
I love this idea! This is gorgeous, and I'd love to have a tank like this some day. The idea of a living, natural filter is brilliant.
You are a true artist. I hope you have customers that pay you well to create custom tanks for their homes.
Dude you have me so hooked ! It’s really just time and trial and error! But with your help we cut down on the error 🙏🏻
Really nailed it with the angled pieces on the sides, I was wondering how often you'd have to top it off to maintain the waterfall effect, those side pieces solved that problem instantly! Great build!
Quite an interesting idea, for sure. I'd like to see something in the lower bog tank that is asymmetrical to complement or play off against what's inside the upper tank.
I think you killed it with this idea, really hit it out of the park. Great work!!!
This one was really nice. The yellow shrimps made it look alive.
Tanner always makes these builds seem easy 😅 and makes me want to start DIYing some tanks myself
Cool build. I think the check valve (although needed like you said) was the main issue with the overflow aspect of the tank. Check valves are usually quite restrictive depending on the design. Next time go with a more powerful pump to overcome the extra restriction.
I like the sides, the way the water falls, and the shrimp were a great choice. Yellow is so happy!

Hehe you are right! Sweet design but a bit risky. Extending a pipe (hidden with a log/hardscape/plants) to a few centimetres below surface level should be a possible solution for future versions. This might break the intended visual effect. Perhaps adding air (air stone could be hidden under the gravel) near the sides would spread the overflowing water more along the sides Great design (this comment is not meant in any negative way)
@ronskopitz2360
3 жыл бұрын
@@svenv460 Heh - I came here to say exactly this. The “high end” check valve on my marine tank constantly fails. He would only need to extend the output tube up high enough so that the water that drains doesn’t overflow the bottom. That would make it easier to hide.

Man I clicked the link because I thought this was a mass-produced product that I'd be able to buy and set up and this was more of a tutorial. Then you built it out of scrap materials. This is professional as hell, well done.
Very impressed with your creativity. Wow it’s amazing
Have you ever considered mass production of some of these more unique tanks? I’d love to buy one.
I like the idea. I had chosen a slightly lower middle part and lower upper part. I don't like high aquas. When it comes to the base part, it could work just as well if there were 9-12 support points! The supports can be made of brick, concrete or similar material and are built as an (X) with 4 pieces that anchor the 4 corners so that you have a large X in the middle, for better relief of the strain of the weight that the upper part brings with it. Pumps and media will be covered with plants etc. The middle part needs to be easily accessible and I don't want to spend too much time on silicon and also be able to have the upper part loose in case something breaks! So a 2-part build that appears to have three parts where the upper part has its weight resting on the crosses which are not visible.
Very cool! I like your determination. Try, and try again until it's perfect!
I would have recurring dreams of making elaborate fish tanks when I was younger. You made a literal dream I had when I was 12.
Girl, you have done it again! Constantly raising the bar for us all and doing so flawlessy.
