I am over 30 years away from the hobby and you have certainly inspired me to get back into it. My mother had an aquatic shop back in the early 80's which I practically ran for 4 or 5 years and had the pick of everything, I was aquascaping to a degree back then without realising it. I should be back up and running in the next couple of months.

I love doing the maintenance. It is when I really connect to my tanks and it is something I look forward to each week. The only thing I don't really like is trimming moss as find it so difficult to stop little bits landing in random places and starting to grow everywhere.

Only just seen this vid for some reason George? But really love this aquascape and how it's evolved. My own is very similar from the aspect that I really like the combination of cryps and Amazon swords in the background. Very jealous of how clean and algae free your anubias is! Never managed that one as yet.

Made it all the way to the end. Thanks for showing us your stunning aquarium and how easy it is to maintain it. We have kept fish on and off for about 40 years or more tropical, marine and more recently coldwater. My son had a few goldfish as a youngster (he's 38 soon) and the last of the shoal died the back end of last year. Broke my heart over that fish. Anyhow we have just dismantled his tank and are looking at setting up another tropical or maybe temperate. How things have changed in the hobby, what with skimmers and CO2 etc. Feeling a little overwhelmed but at least we now have loads of help from your good self. Thank you for sharing your knowledge.

Fun fact George, there were studies done on chlorine and nitirifying bacteria, takes around an hour of exposure for it to have actualy harm and kill off bacteria! I still prefer to use my aquarium water when washing substrate as its less of a waste. I remember prime time aquatics on youtube did a video about it

Awesome video as always! Always pick up a tip or two watching your maintenance videos! I have always said, the connection is my thought on maintenance. Out of all the aquariums I have had, when I started my First aquascape, I never had a connection like I have with my aquascape. The process in doing the maintenance also is very therapeutic for me and I really enjoy doing it and the results are satisfying even though the scape to me is always changing. Thank you George for all that you do for this beautiful and amazing hobby!

Got back into the hobby last year after a 20 year hiatus. Not wanting to run before I could walk, I set up a 360 litre community tank with a biomaster 600 to filter it based on your reviews. I don't like clutter in my tanks and the internal heater with prefilter set the Oase apart. It's been running for nearly 6 months now and my maintenance schedule is almost identical to yours, except I clean my prefilter every 2-3 weeks and water change every 10 days (33%). So far my water readings have been bang on, so the filter is able to cope with the bioload. I have lighter stock than you, 40 fish, 2 angels, 1 bristlenose, 27 small tetras and 10 corys but went the silk plant route as my interest is more in the fish than underwater gardening. With your heavily planted tank I would have thought 2 800 filters would have been overkill but you are the expert. Nice aquascape and you are definitely pushing me in the natural plant direction...

Really appreciate the back 2 back videos George and I am saving yesterday's Aquarium Gardens live stream for the wknd , just like to start with a few additional points for algae magnets and I am not positive about both of them but it is worth mentioning that I noticed my Mag-Float had a sharp piece of metal on the interior scrubber that is visible with a magnifying glass. Never thought about doing anything to determine if the manufacturer quality or the choice of materials is the reason for the problem which I will add that the scratches on my glass are noticeable if you are close enough but not so deep the algae makes it easier to find like I have seen on some other aquariums !!! Kind of a irony of the painful variety and I think it is deserving for me to put in a little time to see if there is anything similar that someone else has written about. Now I have a brand new 75 g ( 280 liters ) that I am not willing to use anything but Magic erasers and the paper towels thanks to Juris for the Pro Tip . Last thing is ever since the first time I saw you using a DENNERLE CLEANATOR I have been looking forward to getting a few for the last few years and now having a new aquarium is a great time to get some, especially dealing with the diatom situation!!! Had 2 add I always watch until the end regardless of the length and same for the many times. I will watch it again!!!
