Aprilia Tuono 660 Review 202.Is This The Best Naked Middleweight Motorcycle of 2021To find out if the #Aprilia #Tuono660 really is a viable challenger in the middleweight naked #motorcycle sector, we took it to its natural habitat. A day spent hammering some of the best B-roads that Northamptonshire has to offer, and an afternoon pondering whether I'd prefer the Tuono, the KTM Duke 890 R, Yamaha MT-07, or Triumph Trident 660. Yeah, I could have mentioned all the rivals and turned it into a 20-minute video - that nobody would watch until the end! The KTM though is the one that feels closest in terms of tech, the riding modes, and aids and the way they work.

@@visordown I get that it's difficult to choose which bikes to compare, but honestly the 890r is in another class, it's only a few kilos heavier, has 25bhp more 32nm more and having ridden both there is no comparison. And to be fair it's a grand more.

Great review in plain terms, no hype or shouting into the microphone, and not too long. I couldn't care less about comparisons with XYZ bike, I'd already done my own homework on the specs and just needed to hear about how you found the motor and handling and overall ride experience/engagement factor. Sweet bike with a touch of exotica that will hit the nail on the head for a lot of riders. I like the Trident and MT-07 as a more basic choice and the Duke for all out performance but the Tuono seems to combine much of the best of the competition and it looks the most awesome.

Great video! I have been on the fence for a while between Tuono 660 Factory , KTM 890 R, MT09SP, Kawa F900SE, Monster SP and BMW M9T. Scratched off Ducati and BMW due to price. I really wanted the Tuono or KTM but I read to many horror stories about issues & Quality Control with both manufacturers. Unacceptable in 2023 and today’s technology. Leaning towards MT09SP due to performance, technology and reliability. It’s a shame, I really wanted the Tuono and KTM second.

The competition is the Monster 950, MT09SP, Duke 890, street triple. Duke is the best handling bike, MT09SP is the fastest and the Tuono is the best looking and a overall complete package and you will feel more special on that bike than any other in the competition. If the 1100 V4 did not exist I would have a 660.

Same situation 6ft 215 lbs and man I tell ya, I keep having to scroll through videos to find someone taller to compare and most of the reviews are done by tiny little people that make the bikes look bigger especially the Italian bikes. I found a 2018 Mv Agusta Brutale 800rr with 3k miles on it for 11k and was planning on buying it. I finally went to see it on the showroom floor and was crushed....The handle bars came to my waist standing next to it. It was literally like going to walmart and sitting on a kids 8v power wheel bike. Why make a machine so beautiful and powerful only to exclude anyone over 5ft 6 to look normal or feel comfortable on it?

In Australia the Trident is Aud$12.7k OTR versus the KTM 890, Aprilia Tuono 660 and the MT09 SP being ~$20k OTR. So the dealers can't get enough Tridents. So sure if you want a bit more chops than the Trident then well you need to pay a lot more... ~+50% more. Trouble is our roads are only 100km/hr accept for the boring interstate truck channels which are 110km/hr. I didn't know you could legally drive at 80-90mph in the UK on public roads? Impressive.

I live in NZ. Triumph only brings in the learner model of the Trident, so off the list sadly. Same for the Honda and Kawasaki 650s. However the base MT09 is only $15,200 kiwi and SP $17,000. So hard to beat. The GSX S750 is great value at $14,000 kiwi. Also delivers over 100bhp a simple but well set up bike. Wind and probably better than the MT07?? At close to $20k the Aprilia has to beat the Street Triple.

Isn't the Trident LAMS (learner) only in Australia? I am considering the Tuono 660 as my second bike next year when I get full license, but only because there are no full power versions of the Honda CBR 650r or Trident 660. I felt the MT-07 is not a big enough increase after riding my learner bike for almost 2 years at that point. The rest of the competition have too much HP for me at this stage of learning.

And they don’t include the IMU or quick shifter on a bike that’s priced as high as bikes that are 200cc larger or more? It’s insane. I have no idea why anybody would buy this bike.

Bikes are overpriced these days. I realise they need a load of crap on board to comply with the latest Euro specs but I think if you took my 1999 ZXRr and made it into a sit up and beg you’d have a much better bike. That cost a touch under 6 grand then so inflation seems crazy now. It had two more cylinders and more bhp. I’m an aprilia fan and love twins. I can’t see why Aprilia couldn’t have brought out a reduced Cc Shiver in this trim. Then we wouldn’t have had to pay for all the r&d necessary for this bike. It looks gorgeous but the price tag is obscene.
