In this video I applied peel & stick wood veneer over the plastic top of a mid century thrift store table. I also refinished the legs and apron.

Dude. This new style video is fantastic. You are the reason I started searching for, and refinishing/rescuing MCM furniture. I learn something new every video you make. Keep doing what you're doing. Your content is stellar. I appreciate you.

Thank You.
I’ve been watching for years. Great to put a face with the voice. Love your channel.
Love your new video format. Feels more like interacting with you!
I grew up with that table! Still have the scar on my head when I fell down as a kid and hit the edge.

Nice to see the face that matches the voice👍
I came to this video to watch the veneer application and found the entire project enjoyable to watch. Very informative, not too chatty, and no annoying music track! Thanks
New intro format? We love!
Look, someone has to say it: this man was written for the female gaze. The attention to detail, the slow, thoughtful movements. And that face? Whew!
The woman of Transcend Furniture is excellent at getting woods to match.
Another great video! I think it's cool that you are now narrating to the camera, versus just doing it through the microphone.
Wow! Two vids in a row! Really no longer camera shy! Lol Great video as always ✌️
"I'm not sure if this is going to work but I'm going to give it a shot." ~Dashner My refinishing projects summed up in a single sentence.
Your videos are so much more personal with a face behind the voice. Thanks!!

Thanks, that’s good to hear.
OMG his accent is amazing, generally the American accent is pretty run of the mill but this guy's accent is hypnotic!
The table is beautiful and it looks so much better with the new veneer Sometimes the face doesn't fit the voice. Yours does. Nice to see you again.
Seeing your face on the regular now is so wild!! It makes you do a double-take! Lol Looking forward to all your future projects, what a trip!
I love your work and the calm strength of your voice. It is a firm reassurance in the sea of raised voices and hyper activity on KZread. After watching you, I feel like maybe we Aren't going to hell in a handbasket. Thank you.
Wow, back when I was a kid in the sixties and seventies, these tables were everywhere. I never liked that top part but didn’t realize it was plastic. Much better the way you did it!👍🏾✌🏻
This is so pretty! I have often wondered why there isn’t more refinishes that put veneer over laminate for some pieces, seems it would make it much more desirable as a piece of furniture. Growing up in the 70’s laminate was hard to get a way from but I never cared for it. Thank you for showing you can put veneer over laminate and that it can look fabulous!
The description of the wood frame as "kinda nice" is understated as usual, and a trademark of this series.
That peel and stick veneer looks great! The grain lines on it are 'eye candy'. I love how the table turned out, thanks for the tutorial!
I always stop to watch when I see you have posted a new video. That table looks similar to a dining room table from my childhood. It is really fun to see the face behind the voice!

Thanks for watching!
Another beautiful restoration! It’s nice to be able to finally put a face to the voice too, thanks for coming around to the front of the camera. It just adds another dimension to the videos.
I’ve seen these coffee tables with the plastic veneer and thought the only thing you could do with them is paint. I never thought of adding wood veneer. It looks amazing!
I have the EXACT same table, and have considered adding veneer over the laminate. Now I have the perfect step-by-step instructions! Been following your channel for awhile and have gained tons of skills from watching. Thank you!
I don’t think I’ve finished any of your videos. I always fall asleep half way through. Not that the content isn’t good it’s cause your voice is so calming.
Mr Dashner sir, you've got a very soft and slightly unexpected humorous side :)
I like both formats :) The voice-only videos were extremely relaxing, and this video feels more interactive. A mix of both would be nice
Finally a face to that calming voice! You’ve been like Tool Time Tim’s neighbor Wilson in your other videos where we can never really quite see the face. Sometimes I was almost distracted away from the restoration for trying to see your face in the reflection in the vinegar bottle or whatever there was. 😂🤣. I love your videos. And your voice. And now your face too! 😎
I too am enjoying your face on these videos. It makes them more personal. I always learn something new...and it empresses my husband...LOL
I’ve always liked this style, especially in smaller spaces, they give a light, airy and clean appearance. Beautiful job!
Always a joy to watch Dash. Love this little table and the pattern on the veneer is beautiful. It's so weird seeing you at the beginning! Weird good though. My head was full of other thoughts and when I clicked on the video I had totally forgot about your full appearance in the last video. Thanks for calming my thoughts down, yet again. For someone with severe anxiety whose head is always racing, you really do wonders. Thank you so much.
I guess I’m the only one who likes laminate on tabletops, but for countertops it’s my favorite, especially the old glossy finish. You did do a nice job and I like your work.
Is it weird that I've been watching your videos for over a year to fall asleep to? I've never made it to the end for any of them 😂
I usually watch your videos late at night to help me fall asleep and because I like your content, adding your voice in video and now your introduction with your face talking on video it's a bit more exciting and I enjoy watching and listening while I'm wide awake lol bad explaination but good work man youre doing great.
Beautiful veneer. I also like that you always show your finish product outside…this is the Dashner way. ❤
My mother had this and two end tables I believe it was a set. She bought them at Sears in the 1960’s I remember my mother saying that the tops were laminate. I have the one of the end tables at my house now.
We used to have one of these in the 60's, it endured a lot with 6 kids in the house....beautiful job, thanks for sharing...Take care...
It's always satisfying to watch expertise in action, especially when paired with such a calm, quiet way of explaining the process. Excellent video.
I've always loved your down-to-earth style. Your appearance is very much how I imagined. You kind of have that young Richard Dreyfuss likeability! I wish you didn't have to battle that cold. I'm from the Midwest but have been in CA a long time and I just say "brrrrr" when I watch this. Keep up the good work!
Glad to see you in person, amazing video as always 🙂
The veneer was what it needed to elevate the whole piece,,,beautiful work
Who woulda known this piece could actually look sweet! I’ve probably seen hundreds of these coffee tables since I’m a child of the 50’s. They’ve always been an automatic toss. Thanks!
Your videos are great but it’s good to see a face to the voice! Thanks for the great content!
Genuinely enjoying seeing your face! It’s so nice to see the baby blues that go with that radio voice! Thank you for sharing this beautiful table too, I guess. 😏
I see the snow in your video and take solace in the fact that for me it was 80° with clear skies outside today.
Am I the only one kinda surprised that the man behind the voice is a fairly handsome normal looking guy? For some reason I was expecting more of a Dahmer vibe. A great looking job, keep ‘‘em coming
I have always enjoyed your videos but I’m loving seeing your face on the screen. It seems so much more personal. Thanks for all you do!
Oh my goodness, you have a face to go with your charming, calming voice.
Holy smokes, he has a face! 😂 So good to see you, after only hearing your voice! Love your work, love your creativity. Always excited when you upload a new video!
Looks great! I recently used a $40 piece of peel and stick walnut veneer to do the same thing over laminate topped mid century nightstands. I was impressed with just how easy it was to work with! Definitely has me rethinking the way I’ve handled pieces with laminate tops in the past.
This turned out great! I like that you unified the color on all the separate parts, and the veneer has a beautiful pattern. Thanks for all the content 👍
Great job even though you are dealing with your cold weather. The cocktail table looks so much better with a veneer top. Very, very mid-century modern. Carol from California
The new wood veneer ‘glows’ in that flattering light. Beautiful!
Hey Dash, nice to SEE you! I've been watching for over a year now and enjoy the relaxed and soothing vibe to your channel -- No offense, but I sometimes fall asleep...a bit of ASMR with all the sanding, etc. -- and will wake up at 2 am to your voice telling me to not apply too much sanding pressure or the veneer will get too thin. It does make for some strange dreams. Love the finished products and of course the fact that you are saving these mid-century modern beauties!
I've always loved your videos, but I think they're even better with you in front of the camera talking about your process.

Nice format, with some “in front of camera” time, Why were you hiding that nice looking face all these years? But you’re still meeting your usual standard of more than excellent furniture work.
Always a good day when you post a new video. We are in the middle of bad ice/sleet/freezing rainstorm. One more day before thaw and more typical Texas weather. Enjoyed seeing you cope with the conditions there.

Same here! Dashner has months of what we have for two days.
The table has asked me to pass on a thank you from the bottom of its heartwood. It feels properly loved for the first time in its life.
That looked so much nicer when you'd finished it (well, obviously!). I agree that the figuring on the top was worth having a closer look at than you could get outside. Whilst never seeing your entire face was always an interesting mystery, I'm enjoying actually seeing you now!
Always wondered if this could be done. People want MCM furniture more now than ever and this is a great way of taking a $20 find and making it $200 living room piece. Nice job.
I enjoy your true very experienced DIY videos. It was a good idea to add the face shot as an added touch to who you are !! Thanks again
Love seeing your face, it really personalizes the videos
Super cool that we see a face to the awesome voice. Great work on this one!
I really like this kind restoration "upgrade". By putting the walnut veneer on this piece, you made it more attractive than it ever has been in its life! Love the color work, it turned out beautiful! I live in Des Moines, IA just 3 hrs from Minneapolis, so I can totally relate to the "temperature challenges" you face when refinishing pieces in the winter! Great work!
Turned out great! Makes me miss my days in Minneapolis in my garage refinishing furniture💚
I like the clean simple lines combined with the richness of the veneer in this piece
It just goes to show... DON'T pass up laminate if you like the piece in general. You can always make it beautiful! Thank you for this video! Looks lovely.
It would be cool if you have a general breakdown of expenses during your refinishing. Especially the veneer.

95% of the tools and materials he's using are things he has in stock already because he's a committed furniture restorer. So the table and the veneer are the only things he could price for you, and you can get prices on those things yourself, locally. I'd rather he spend the time restoring more furniture than editing costs into his videos.
I noticed all along that that veneer was gorgeous. 🤩
Table looks so much nicer now thanks for sharing 👏🇦🇺
The veneer is very pretty. It made such a difference in the table. I don’t think I would have thought to try the veneer over this type of top. It opens up a whole new realm of possibilities. Thanks so much
Been watching for some time and I was surprised to see a face reveal. Felt like as if Banksy came out of the shadows! Cool to see you opening up. This taught me the value of putting a face to a voice.
It looks great. The dye really made the walnut top sing!
Another good job! I like your new videos, you’re very natural. Was a good decision to finally show yourself! 🙂
Nice to see the face behind that mellow voice. Great informational vid.
Good to see your face! Enjoy your show….for years!
Lovely work - I'm sitting here in very rainy New Zealand, almost 80 degrees outside, muggy and hot, enjoying looking at your snow! And of course, the table. :)
For being a hodge podge of leftover stain, that color looks great!!
Turned out great! Growing up in the 60s, my parents had an identical table along with two end tables which were two-tiered for lamps on the upper tier. The end tables eventually ended up as bedside tables for my siblings and me, so it was probably a good thing the tops were laminate! I think the legs might have had brass ferrules at the ends, though I may be confusing them with the Naugahyde disk chairs that were part of the suite.

We had a coffee table like this as a kid that was known as the “ pizza table” , ie the table we were allowed to eat pizza on in front of the TV! Wish it were still around, but it went with some cousin or another to their first home.
Right you are.. the indoor light shows the improvement, but in late January in Minnesota, the outdoor light... not so much. And wow... pretty impressive PSA on the veneer, to adhere in such cold weather. As is so often the case, your techniques defy conventional wisdom, but work out juuuuust fine. Inspiration for us all.
My entire childhood is plastic laminate: coffee tables, kitchen counters, school desks, dressers... Finally represented.
I'm over the moon that you made this video. I have the exact, same table and I have been waiting to find something on your channel to help me with the top. I trust only you and now I can go ahead and work on my own table. Thank you! P.S. I've applied wood veneer to the panels of a beatiful old door that sadly had cedar plywood panels. It was a great improvement on the esthetic of the door. My veneer though was glued on....scary but doable!
Great change to the ugly veneer that was originally there. I have a treadle sewing machine that needs the top of the "lid" redone. A previous owner replaced it with wall paneling from the 1970's! Thanks for my tutorial on using stick on veneer. That sounds like the easiest way to replace the mess with new veneer...Thanks for the tips. I always look forward to your videos!
Wow! It turned out beautifully! The MN weather has been rough lately, but hopefully warmer days headed our way :)
Love seeing your face on camera now! I’ve always enjoyed your videos and they have helped me tremendously as I venture into very beginner type refinishing.
Relax, smile…you’re doing great! I’ve been watching and enjoying your videos for a while and have learned a lot. Keep up the good work!❤️
Beautiful table sir. Nice seeing you in person by the way you have beautiful eyes 👀 have a good day stay warm.
Nice to finally put a face to the voice. Really enjoy your videos.
I always admire your work and your calm voice , and now I have to add you very handsome man .
The table looks great and it’s good to see you again
I was so surprised to see you, and that you look a lot like my mental image. Have enjoyed a lot of your videos, and gotta say I'm a fan of your voice as much as of your skills and knowledge.
So glad you've decided to stay with us. You'll have all the girls swooning-- over your beautiful restored furniture.
Here I am complaining about it being in the low 20s outside at the moment and you are out working near 0 degrees. I feel like a slacker now. The table turned out so well. Thanks for sharing. 🍻

Actually he said "below freezing " which means less than 32 degrees Fahrenheit.
Omg, hello Face 😄What a lovely surprise. I clearly skipped the last week's video and got my freak out today. So congratulation on 101st video!
I have this same table but round! I can’t wait to do what you did, but I’m gonna wait till my 5 and 3 yo boys grow because the less pretty plastic top is actually pretty convenient 😂
Beautiful table! Enjoy seeing you work. Can't imagine you work in freezing weather.
Love this! It's nice seeing your face
