I am not a wood worker, but I am a quilter. In the quilting world there is a much loved expression: "Finished is better than perfect!" Sometimes the finished product is greater than the sum of its parts. I personally think this refurbished cabinet is very lovely, and I would be thrilled to own it. 😊

I needed to hear that while trying to complete my first day project. I painted the sane 3 pine dressers for months! It was misery. They look fine, but fine was killing me. But, they're finished.

After watching you work on it so long I was also thinking, hmm. This one isn't as beautiful as some of your others. But I went back to look at its original state and it was staggering. Returning to the finished restoration I was deeply impressed by it's quiet, gentle beauty. I've never been a blonde furniture enthusiast but you made trash back into treasure. A total rebirth!

This piece feels so storied. Like it's already had a bunch of lives. The legs off and then on, the handles changed, holding a server... It's also very cool seeing how different hobbies/crafts MacGyver things (eg the dental floss) to do whatever needs to be done.

I believe the original finish was cerused. The wood was brushed with a wire brush which created tiny grooves in the wood. Then a limestone slurry was applied. After it dried, the wood was sanded leaving white lime in the grooves. It is a very upscale and desirable finish in the design world. Your refinish was wonderfully done.

Looks great! It was a yucky mess prior. I like the tan color you put on the bottom rail and the top of the drawers. I think it looked really great with the blonde outside finish ....so much so that it would look great in the interior and could be used as a bar or liquor cabinet. Just a thought. My dad had made a coffee table with blonde wood in high school shop,he is 91 now. So I have had it for over 30 years! I don’t really like the blonde so I used multiple stains and oil paint in tans, gray, a kinda teal blue and a fairly darker green and then a white pickling and I still really like it.

Thanks for another calming and engaging video. I have learned so much from your videos over the years, and I always appreciate your work. I rescue all sorts of mid century and Danish modern pieces for my home now!

Beautifully done piece. I also agree it works just as well as a credenza-type piece vs a dresser. The simple clear finish really enhanced the piece. We’ll done!

Well I love it. On the end you did not paint the inside white but I guess you had enough. I think turned out stunning. I would definetely have it. Thank you for you dedication and teaching me how to restore wood. I love it.

Wow, Dash! What commitment! I totally admire your tenacity. You have a good eye for color matching that's for sure. I like the whitewash (ish) look it ended up with - very even and clean. Like always, great job. Thanks for sharing! 😄

You have an abundance of patience. I felt it was ready for the burn pit at the start, but you performed another miracle. It’s not perfect but it is presentable and a usable little cabinet.

You did a fantastic job, and have inspired me to tackle a large blonde desk Which I got for $5 at a thrift shop. It's in great condition except for the top Finish. Had no idea I could scrape it, yay! Thank you very much for your clear, Easy to follow tutorial! Best, Carol F.

As always, fascinating to watch, and what a great piece you finished up with. I think I would have put some matching round oak door knobs to the drawer and doors though, just to break up the plain looking doors. Well done all the same and thanks for sharing your skills. Take care 🙂
