Upon unboxing, I was immediately upset at how the rails were very noticeably bent. Honestly I love this thing, make sure to read the measurements and measure your space so you know if it'll work for you. I bought this to put inside my closet, underneath where I hang my clothes and it is absolutely perfect! It is VERY sturdy and all drawers glide easily and mine are stuffed, and they are still flush when closed.

I would have filled them first with the wood putty, then stained, then used the poly. Although they are camouflaged, you'll still see the scratch or valley in the wood. Better to level it off first.

"The first stain was Candlelight" okay sure whatever "And the second was Antique Walnut" Yessss

I guess you are the only one on KZread who doesn't have a fancy flush trim saw and can still flush some wood. Stay same man, stay humble, stay being our hero :)

Awesome job! I also liked the scratch lesson. Admire use of simple goods. Also learned about use of clamping and gluing techniques. Liked how you used what you had.

I appreciate more than I can say the fact that you're doing this beautification and reclamation work on everyday, not-costly stuff. It feels like a blow against the "just-toss-it" virus that worries me so.

Guy reminds me of Bob Ross With his soft, hypnotic voice.. was waiting for him to start drawing distant mountain ranges, seascapes, forest scenes, with those happy little trees.

What I like about this channel: 1. No music so I can just listen to the explanations and the nature sounds from the background. Really relaxing. 2. No distracting special effect for the videos. 3. Just restore its original looks rather than follow trends (but I would like to see some from this channel, when it is appropriate for the piece of furniture). 4 No annoying introduction...:"hi, welcome to my channel, I am going to do today is....blah blah blah....If you are new here, I am a painter.....blah blah blah...... " Thank you for making things simple and professional.

Making the wood grain "pop" made this piece a lot more attractive. Lovely job.

I think what draws me to your videos is the attention to detail. like the extra step of hand touching dark spots in the finish. I use to do a lot more of this not at your level back in the late 90's before KZread when i would hunt for cheap furniture for my college apartments! AMAZING WORK!

I absolutely LOVE watching your channel. You actually RESTORE the furniture to its original beauty. Whereas other channels I've seen call sanding and throwing white paint on what was or could have been beautiful pieces of furniture. I myself work hard to fix, refurbish and refinish furniture to as close to its original as possible Heck, I once worked for weeks restoring and removing paint that looked like they were going for a faux antique look some idiots had put on an 1800 solid mahogany sleigh bed. I finished it with a clear rub on finish that allowed the deep red and almost purple colors to shine through

Yes! Some of the painted pieces are nice, but I love seeing the original wood! This is a favorite channel.

I love your videos. For folks like me just starting out, it would be amazing if you could do a video(s) on "diagnosing" the original piece. What drives your decision process? How can you tell if it is laminate or veneer? Etc. Love your channel!

2:48 I have a good tip. Squirt some water in that crack first and the glue will follow the water and into the crack.

Wow, that looks really, really good! The new stain brings in the grain and the pattern of the wood in such a smooth, rich way... The colour is just beautiful, makes the whole dresser so much more regal and solid. It became a stand out piece, you did it great justice!

You need a Festool Domino ..... it’s the only festool I own but it is a game changer like no other tool available today. It’s the best invention for quality woodworking tools ever.

The piece looks better than new - the grain and tone of the wood is so much nicer after you restored it! The only thing I would have loved to see would have been different knobs - something that looked appropriate for the period but just gave a bit more luster to the piece. But other than that small wish, this was really beautiful!

Minimum use of tools and money, no fancy stuff...you need just time and to put in some humble honest work and you always get great results. Good job, thank you!

I found an interesting mid-century modern end table for free on craigslist a while back. It's solid, just has some condition issues with the veneer, some water stains and a bit of mildew on the legs and under belly. Reviewing your video's to work out the game plan on refinishing it. That's a really 1st class restoration.

I find that you have set the standard for furniture restoration videos. When I watch others, I find myself silently saying “ No, that’s not the way. “ and shutting them off in frustration because they aren’t careful enough.

Trial and error touch up color made a difference in that large scratch, vamoose : ) Thanks for taking your time to explain and show us how you correct many things.

The brush work to deceive the eye is very good, great result.

Beautiful grain on this one. Glad you uncovered it. I sometimes imagine you using a clamp/vice when drilling but then realise you probably picked the piece up for five bucks at the thrift store/side of the road lol

I appreciate how he is able to evaluate the process and then correct a problem issue. DIY projects never go entirely smoothly and need a different process. Thanks for a great video.
