    Your waterborne system seems so much easier .Our shop is thinking of switching to your solvent from your Hi Tec 480 waterborne which I love using .Only because a couple of techs can’t seem to get a hang of it and use it right 😑

    The waterbase 480 is faster then the solvent line. Better color matches to. I think your shop needs to keep those who can spray the water and let go of those who cant. Time to learn its almost 2022

    I used PPG envirobase for about 5 years. Thought it was amazing. Then I got a job at a shop using Hi Tec 480. I had sprayed Spies Solvent back in the day and I was looking forward to using Spies again. I was concerned about the different spraying technique Hi Tec requires. I was shocked at how easy it was to use Spies water based system. I got the hang of spraying it in about two weeks. So fast... must be the most productive system I have ever sprayed. I just started at a shop that is using PPG envirobase... I can't stand it. I'm seriously going to call my old Spies rep and try to find a shop using Hi Tec. PPG is a HUGE waste of time! I agree with Boosted Gsr... can the guys that won't take the time to learn Hi Tec. Spraying solvent based systems is a thing of the past!

    Hi, if possible I work from the top down with clearcoat as I can see the film formation easier this way than if I started from the bottom. It also helps with overspray absorption as it is not falling on to the wet freshly applied clear when being extracted.

    How wet are you applying the base coat? If you still have mottle after the second coat, how would you fix it?

  • @Spieshecker

    @Spieshecker

    2 жыл бұрын

    Hi and thanks for using our products. The first coat is applied in a closed and uniform film. For the second we advice to slightly increase the distance by applying again a uniform coat. Do not apply too wet. If you see mootling after the second coat, it make sense to apply a third coat in the same manner as the second. You should avoid dropplet coats at this stange as it can influence your final clear coat appearance, as mentioned in the video.

    Hi, for the first coat on the rear fender the inlet pressure was 2.0 bar. This was reduced on the rear door to 1.5 bar due to the limited space and the need to keep the repair/overspray as small as possible.

    Thanks for the question. I would not leave the basecoat longer than 72 hours before overcoating with clear. It's not that the adhesion will be affected but it's more a question of leaving it open to airborne contamination.

    Hi guys, i use this 293 basecoat. My question is about the drop coat: is It normal that the Little droplets once dries, leaves a micro peel wich clearcoat doesn't cover?

  • @Spieshecker

    @Spieshecker

    Жыл бұрын

    Normally using a fine droplet coat and reduced pressure as shown in the video produces a smooth surface on which to apply clear. The critical thing is to apply this at low pressure and only over the blend edge and not the entire repair as this can cause dieback or loss of gloss with the clear.

    Czy do wszytkich lakierów bazowych spies hecker permacorn 293 polecasz pistolet sata RP? W jakich proporcjach jest rozcieńczony lakier bazowy? I czy ostatnia warstwa kropelkowa jest Robina na 0.5 bara? Pytam ponieważ mam problem z fordem UX który mi bardzo chmurzy podczas aplikacji ale używam sata 5000 hvlp i może w tym tkwi problem u mnie. Z góry dziękuję za pomoc.

    Dziękuję za twoje pytanie. SATA RP 1.2 (1,3 w zależności od warunków klimatycznych) zapewnia dobrą atomizację i dostarczanie materiału dla jednolitego procesu aplikacji i dobrej kontroli mottlingu. Warstwa bazowa jest na TDS zmieszana z 65% Supercryl Reducer. Podczas mieszania zalecamy zmniejszenie nacisku do wartości podanych na filmie. Pomaga to zapewnić płynne przejście, nawet w przypadku krytycznych kolorów. W przypadku dalszych pytań prosimy o zapoznanie się z naszymi arkuszami danych technicznych

    Hi William, thanks for your interest and question. This repair was done using a sanding surfacer which was the preparedwith an appropriate abrasive meaning that basecoat can be applied directly. Using a sealer (or wet on wet surfacer in this case) would add an unecessary step and result in more time in the booth

    Hi, in normal cases Permacron Base Coat Series 293 should cover in 2-3 coats assumning that the product is adjusted and applied in-line with TDS recommendations. Also do you use an appropriate colour surfacer on the repairs? Doing so will reduce the amount of coats required to achieve hiding.
