    Thanks you for your compliment and observations. Through our training we try to improve the knowledge and skills of our customers (and of our competitor customers) so that we lift the level of the industry. I did this colour last month, it’s a pain of a colour.Base has to be equally wet .Base coat is pinkish, and skill is needed to blend the base in.You have got to get into your mind that the tinted clear coat is not to be blended to edge to edge.Not to be heavy handed , as after the tinted coat goes on .Then your got the clear coat going on.

    Excellent work. Very impressive skills. I have a question with which I'm hoping you might be able to help me. Could a tinted clear be used to slightly alter the existing colour of a car. For instance, my amaranth red Porsche has too much of a brown undertone, particularly in the shade. I'm wondering if a blue tinted clearcoat applied to the existing finish might have to effect of shifting the colour away from the brownish end of the red spectrum.

    Tinted clears are used to produce/reproduce colour depth and intensity and most often rely to some degree to the coloured layer beneath to reach the correct position. I'm not sure if your proposal would have the desired effect to be honest. Maybe worth trying a test panel though.

    Love the video, i need to touch up this color and my Megane R.S.. I have some very large chips from some damage on the front bumper. I have bought the ground coat and top coat in a kit. How do i proceed for the best results? should i mix the top coat 50/50 with clear? Is there some reds i need to buy to mix with clear to get a better match? Which red is the one used in the clear? I honestly cant find any info anywhere.. Iv been looking now for days and like 50 videos. Im willing to buy what ever i need to touch this color up. Thanks

    Hi thanks for the positive comments. The colour and the tinted clear used in this repair are mixed according to the information within our colour software. These types of repair are best carried out by a professional shop who have the necessary equipment and products to produce an invisible repair. Maybe it would be best to seek professional advice locally before attemting touch up repairs.

    Hi, thanks for your question and comment re the video. One of the major benefits of Hi-TEC is the superior hiding power of the basecoat and it is this plus the fact that the correct colour surfacer was used on the repair that helps achieving this. If you are not already doing so please check your colour software for guidance on which Colour Level (CL) to use with each specific formulation.

    Hi, 15 years spraying and this is my First time using this system. I hate the lines on standard Airfeds, work frowns on using a 3m full face passive cartridge mask. Where could i purchase the Observers Respirator ? Also, what would you say the average Time scale, for a job like .? Your vids have helped, Thanks

  • @Spieshecker

    @Spieshecker

    Hi, the mask worn by the observer/co-commentator is from 3M. I suggest you check locally to see what is available. With regard to average time for such jopbs it is dificult to be specific as each one is slightly different. The key thing is to ensure that such colours are identified early in the repair assessment so that additional time can be allowed for the repair.

  • @Spieshecker

    @Spieshecker

    3 жыл бұрын

    It can be that when the car was originally painted at the factory that an alternative process or build up was used. In the first instance measure the vehicle with ColorDialog Spectrophotometer & check via the colour software, giving the required information re car make and colour code to establish the colour, best variant and the system needed. It maybe that the OEM has also used a non-tinted clear as the final layer to increase the gloss and appearance of the vehicle so light sanding or polishing the original will not show any coloured residue.

    Does it matter if you apply a thin (half) coat before applying a wet coat of tinted clear? Or can you also do it after? And would that affect the texture for my untinted clear if doing so?

  • @Spieshecker

    @Spieshecker

    When applying our HS clears in 1.5 coats it is always recommended to apply the first coat closed and thin followed by a finish coat. Remember when applying tinted clears each coat affects the final colour, more coats equal a darker colour position. Thanks for your question.

    You can tint our clearcoats by using the Clearcoat Colour Additives. For certain specific OEM colours we use a tinetd clear to reproduce the original high chroma colour. In these cases please refer to Phoenix for guidance on how much additive should be added to a specific clear.

    Particularly the one feeding air into the spray gun. It looks like some sort of cheater valve to help allow better movement with the air hose. I am not sure what to call it I have never seen it. Update: I just saw it at 13:41 and I do see now it has a hose going to the mask, but it also looks like it connects to the gun as well?

    Whats the flashing time between the tinted clearcoat and un normal one?

  • @Spieshecker

    @Spieshecker

    2 жыл бұрын

    Hi, thanks for your question. As Tony only wanted to apply a thin closed layer of untinted clear at the end of the process he was able to do this immediately after application of the tinted clear. Given the size of the job a short period of time had elapsed making this possible. If you prefer you can apply the tinted clear and then the untinted to the repair edges, dry thoroughly and cool, sand lightly to remove any imperfections etc and then apply untinted clear to the whole repair. Working in this way is of course a little less productive.

    I is the 480 line and 96 clear.. I find that waiting until the tinted clear it sticky NOT stringy works best.. if the tinted is stringy you can easily solvent pop the clear.. I like it best when I wait 20 mins, then 1.5 coat it.. looks killer, no issues

  • @Spieshecker

    @Spieshecker

    3 жыл бұрын

    Hi,in this particular case no there is not. The idea is to pick up the wet edge of the tinted clear as quickly as possible with the non tinted clear so as to be able to merge the 2 together easily. A final half or thin coat is then applied over the total repair to aid polishing later if needed. The trick is not to apply too heavily.
