the waterfront is really looking good
As a native Californian, I am so jealous of cities east of the Rockies that have endless supply of water. Cities in California would KILL to have a big river like the Fox River. You are so lucky that you dont have to constantly worry about drought and wildfires.

Appleton has really been growing on me the last few weeks. The more research I do, the more I'm liking it. I'll be looking to purchase a home to rent out in the next few months and the Appleton area is quickly moving up the list. Plus, I hear its a great place for outdoor people. One list I saw had Appleton listed as the #1 town in the country to live for deer hunting.

Lots of parks in Appleton. Peabody Park, Jones Park, Telulah Park, Pierce Park. The entire Fox River Trail, Fantastic places hidden in residential neighborhoods, particularly around downtown and along the river. A little out of the city you can find 1000 Islands in Kaukauna and High Cliff State Park in Sherwood on Lake Winnebago.

Crime rate is lower by 7 points that national average, I have never felt unsafe in any neighborhood at night or day

As someone who used to live in Green Bay and frequently visited Appleton over the years, I've since moved out of the state usually visiting for a couple weeks each year in late spring. I couldn't take the winters any longer. I have to say this last visit left me in a bit of shock to see what has happened to Appleton. Wokeism is bleeding around the city and it's turning into a sanctuary city. A place I used to call Pleasantville has become more like Little Milwaukee. Still a lovely place to visit but the changes were a bit of a shock to the system, post lockdown.

4 kids died here due to them being gang affiliated. There's a documentary on it, it's actually a dangers place to live
