Thats one impressive sandwich of tech. I really love the professionalism of iFixit. No hidden ads for the products (expect the small mention of the iOpener) and no unnecessary material to stretch the tear downs beyond the magical 10 minute line.

And then they break the Forcetouch gasket, and tell you to buy one before even opening the goddamn thing because „youll break it anyways“ instead of showing you how to actually open the darn thing properly without breaking half the things in their videos. And very conveniently, they even offer all the spare parts, at a astronomical price directly from their website! What a coincidence ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Brian M yes, because a 450 dollar watch will look like a 4 dollar kids watch. Amazing that such a "shit looking watch" is the best selling smart watch on earth right now. If you're going to shit on a product, at least make your insults more realistic

Question: I attempted to fix a Series 2 watch screen, and it went well at first. I put that sticker back over top of the 3 screen ribbon connectors, and within 1 week, the display stopped working. Upon re-opening, the adhessive from the sticker melted all over the gold contact points on the ribbon cables AND the watch's motherboard itself. What gives?

Yes, it uses the small cores of the A12.

The Apple watch is the best thing Apple has done since 2014. Ever since then, there has been essentially no other real life innovation.

Yeah I had a smartwatch with a proprietary strap that had the GPS inside of it... Once the strap broke I lost GPS and had to DIY a normal strap to fit... So yeah... Thats why the strap counts.

Great video.....but 18 hour battery life?? That is seriously very bad, 3 days on Samsung Gear S3, 5 to 6 days on Galaxy Watch and maybe even more on the new Qualcomm chipped watches coming.

Brian M my Apple Watch does also have a 3 days battery life, the 18 Hours is probably if you use it a lot with training and stuff like that

2:45 - Seriously, who in their right mind would even try and do a 'board level repair'. Such statements just sound really lame. The watch looks pretty damn repairable to me... and the parts likely to need repairing/changing are the easiest.

Why don’t they just put the force touch in the display? It just seems smarter

Wouldn't it be better if Apple used a normal vibrator motor instead of huge taptic engine and fill that extra space with battery. I think people would like better battery life than premium vibrations.

The normal vibration motor feels like shit. Something like an electric toothbrush feels like. Or like androids do :) the haptic engine can create really impressive, subtle or strong vibrations and it can propagate the vibration from where its located to any point on the screen, making the phone feel as if it has a haptic engine underneath all points on the screen. So no, it wouldnt be a good idea. Its the small ideas that make apple so good and stand out

Disappointed with the much smaller battery than the last generation.

A waist of space for the 'taptic engine', better used for the stupidly short battery.

Why don't they throw away that large haptic engine and increase the battery?

Well, no you do not have to break the force touch gasket, all you need to do if add some drops of OCA remover or even lighter fluid when getting between display and frame and do never use a blade, use a good quality spudger that has a thinned edge. I dont get why half the videos iFixit makes, involve destroying something, and then instead of doing it better or at least hiring someone eho actually knows what theyre doing, they tell ya to just buy a replacement part before you even open the goddamn thing and tell you that there is no other way of doing it! That is total bullshit guys, and it goes completely against, what iFixit stands for, they used to be a consumer-friendly internet portal, that actually helped the consumer open up and repair their device. But instead, now iFixit has come to the conclusion that selling parts and tools is a lot more lucrative than instead, actually helping the consumer here! Thats just wrong people!!

I thought you were saying that EKG was wrong. EKG comes from the German word. ECG is the English abbreviation, but a lot of people use the German one.

2019.. repairability score: 0 Pros: changing wristband is easy, a3000 ultrabionic chip. Cons:everything is soldered to the motherboard.

And the issue is? If youre gonna buy a 500$ watch, youre not gonna act like a broke ass (which you are) and try and pry it open just to change a 50$ piece which you bought online for 20$. Stop acting like a smart ass and get a life. Apple products arent made for low life tech wanna-be's who tinker with internals. Apple products arent centered around repairability or upgradebility.

Marcel Fox I did but there is nothing in the Title and the big and small versions differ in multiple points but the display as they have not only different sizes but different form factors now. They don’t even mention that the smaller version will have a smaller battery than the 291.8 mAh one.

Spoiler: Apple Watch Series 5 comes with an Automated external defibrillator (AED). Only problem is that the battery lasts only one shock. But I guess this makes sense: It is necessary to keep Apple's customers alive. :P

I care because I'd rather have the entire English language have a standard for writing things (other countries use ECG), and since ECG makes more sense, I prefer ECG. It would be weird if Switzerland (german-speaking) and Austria said ECG instead of EKG no?

+Dylan In my opinion it'S ok because it looks like that everyone knows what the meant. You also can look at the artical about the ECG on WikiPedia. Both, ECG and EKG are correct in english. It comes from the german word but it's also often used in british english.
