@sassiwich3491 sure, the term comes from the work of Naomi Klein , "The Shock Doctrine". It shows how the liberalization of the economies on post soviet countries was carried out and how that impacted those populations, which leads to the second part of my comment, the drop in life expectancy after the fall of the socialist bloc. In particular, Romania saw a drop in life expectancy of almost 2 years in men from 1990 to 1996. In a country like Russia, life expectancy fell by 6 years from 1990 to 1994. Rapid privatization took a toll on a population that didn't understand what imposing capitalism would do to them. And this is all without getting into the explosion of prostitution, especially among children that occurred in this countries during this time.

The lawyers all need sell it to the jurors and empathy for who and so far yesterday I had no empathy for neither of the teenagers with lies, and they all frustrated and showing anger when they were cornered certainly plays the role of a brat mouthy all had no respect based on the video and how they all were complicit when they all sobbed like cry babies when a lawyer put them to the test. Lately, I have no respect for this new generation of kids never taking accountability, disrespecting people and showing they have no fear. They will likely and hopefully will put themselves in his shoes and if ever one day my father was put in a situation and being called pedophile and how scared sliced some bully kids I will defend him all the way even I myself will go into rage and finish the rest of slicing for him. Don't come for someone especially a defenseless person against 15. All 15 through 20 no one came to diffuse the situation but more got involved an shouted and punched slapped and push is totally unacceptable. They can sit and cry at the stand now but they cant explain each and every person actions on the video how shouting, laughing and taunt a person felt they were in danger or safety.

I think it is a rational disposition, I have seen a bunch of stuff that people I know have hypothesized they wouldn't be able to deal with. I know others who have seen similar things. Not saying there is zero effect, but it's less than you'd imagine, and to you get used to it. The people I've spoken to about it in detail who have had no such experience had a hard time imagining how it would be to not have sleepless nights over it and thought I have to be some sort of psycho... Maybe, hehe, but if so then society needs psychos, someone has to be able to do the "nasty stuff" right? For clarity, I used to be in the military, as were the others I know who have seen messed up stuff. By 'stuff' etc I mean extreme injuries, dead bodies, you get the idea. I wouldn't go look for that kind of thing, nor do I think the people I know would, but in the military things happen where you end up seeing things and experiencing things that are very far from what you would normally otherwise. I have seen people go bananas from it but it's very rare.

He wanted to kill them. He was not afraid for his life because he got punched by two 16/17 year old boys! He was angry and wanted to teach them a deadly lesson. Then he ran and changed clothes like a coward! Pretending he had no idea what was going on down river. He KNEW he was wrong and that it WASN'T self defense. @@itmaster3805 First of all, why are they charging him with 1st degree murder? If they were going to charge him with anything it should have been manslaughter. Personally I don't think he did anything wrong. Those kids were drunk and high and probably thought it was fun to bully Mr. Miu. I don't trust those drunken kids for anything. I think they are covering each others asses. I would have been scared if a bunch of drunk people were surrounding me. And another thing, Why would Mr. Miu say he was looking for little girls? It doesn't make any sense. Those kids are feeling guilty because they were the cause of all this.

I've said this a few times in other videos but reading some of these comments implores me to say it again.... Theres a reason he is called a defendant and ALL those other people are referred to as the *victims* by the investigators and prosecution. "I heard there was a stabbing and I fit the description?" Yes sir. You calmly walked away and threw the knife. Guilty. I've been following this trial from day one and have watched the video evidence multiple times frame by frame. Watch it in Slow motion. More than a couple times. Listen to the witness testimony without bias about teenagers or your *perceptions* of this being self defense. Paint the picture like a logical human adult: Groups of people are floating in the water. Random strange man keeps coming way too close for comfort to a group of 17 year old KIDS. (at 17 we are not emotionally or even physically developed so save the idea these were fully matured human beings) He keeps getting close and acting strange and not saying anything. As the group of boys starts to get loud and rowdy and heckle him... This drinking man rushed at them and put hands on the boys. Another random group... A family...of adults...including a man that is older... is witnessing this and the women go over to try to assert boundaries and tell this weird man to respect people's personal space and get away from the rowdy teens. ANOTHER group is also witnessing it and feels the man is weird and out of line as well. EVERYONE including the man...his friends and wife...the teenagers and the family group and a group of younger adults in the water- have had some beers or alcohol. Including the defendant as testified by his wife who also said he drinks daily after work (you have to listen to the testimony). HE struck a woman in the face. THEN he was pushed down. HE was aggressive and intimidating. HE left the scene. He wasn't scared.... He walked away. Watch his face in slow motion. Look at his eyes and body posture. He wanted to use his knife. He had it out before anyone pushed him. He left. Got rid of evidence. Lied to the authorities. If he was SO scared... Why didn't he run to them and tell them what happened. You haven't studied this case and video frame by frame...If all you see is "disrespectful teenagers". When this man gutted someone that wasn't even in the group of teens. This wasn't self defense. What's crazy is trying to justify what this man did BEFORE any of them put hands on him. He was disorderly and totally crossing the line. Then ran away and lied. People that have a justified self defense case... Don't walk away and hide the weapon. Put this man in prison. He's not right in the head.

You didn't watch the video. The full-length video begins with them shouting that Miu said he was looking for little girls. The guy filming testified that Miu was looking for his cell phone. Big difference. His friends joined in shouting, calling him a perv, a pedophile and other names. They cussed at him. They surrounded him, not letting him get back to his group. They got others to join in with them, shouting, taunting, pushing him down into the rocks in the water repeatedly. They hit him repeatedly, slapped him, got in his face screaming obscenities. Even young adult ladies that were not part of the original group joined in with the verbal and physical assault. Two men sent there by their father to help Miu then joined in with the teens and others, instead of helping him as their father asked them to do. The father testified that he was concerned for Miu's safety because he was surrounded by young adults that were harrassing him and assaulting him. It was a mob mentality. They were closely surrounding Miu and physically and verbally assaulting him, and not letting him leave. One even flew at him, choking him. He flew into Miu's knife. It's in the video that his hands were around Miu's neck and how he propelled himself into Miu's knife. Miu was examined by a nurse who examines assault victims. He sustained six abrasions on his back. A noticeable injury to the back of his head. The inside of his mouth was cut from being slapped/hit repeatedly. He had rock injuries to his rear end from being shoved into the water. He had injuries to his hand from being kicked. He would have been killed as we saw from him being choked. They were a wild pack of hyenas. 13 against one. All he was doing was looking for his friend's phone and these original six knew it. They could have either helped him look for it, or just left. They chose instead to make up a horrible story, escalate it to verbal and physical assault with the intent to kill. Instead they all got their friend killed and another was gutted. Three others were stabbed. For absolutely no reason. Watch the full-length video.

The law states that force met with equal force is considered a reasonable defense. once that force is met with a higher or unreasonable force, that is considered not a defense. Which means: If he was punched and then he punched back he would be in the right of defense. But because he met a punch and then recipcated that with a knife he changed the force of interaction. And that becomes a non equal opportunity defense. So he is guilty. He changed his intentions of defense against a threat to an assault to mame or kill.

MN apparently has some great medical staff, I am very impressed w/all of them, including the MD Surgeon, this forensic Pathologist, the RN's, EMT's, etc. As far as this defense attorney, he disgusts me! In watching him, throughout the trial, he continues to pose duplicate questions, try to intimidate anyone he's speaking to, etc.; hoping the jury makes the right decision and justice is served for Isaac, AJ, and the other 3 people that were stabbed and all of their loved ones. Miu should have walked away, and he had every opportunity to do so. He is GUILTY! Condolences to Isaac's family & loved ones. Had there been no drunk aggressors, there'd be no need for self defense and no knife would have ever come out. Issac was no innocent victim. He was a POS bully who assaulted and choked someone for no reason. Miu acted in self defense, and this certainly isn't first degree homicide. If atal anything, manslaughter at most...but I think the jury will see through the BS of all those unreliable prosecutionwitnesses.

any reasonable person who can give a warning, especially in a fight where the opponents are not using any form of weapon could easily give a fair warning about a protective weapon, Then I could see a self-defense claim because he's giving a fair warning. then maybe they would run off and go call a cop or something. But, he had a concealed weapon where he just began stabbing and maiming people as if he had done it before. He intended to hurt all of them regardless of aggravation, he gave the first punch rather than walk away or call for help for himself, the defense is really reaching that the victim pushed himself into a knife while the defendant was pulling the knife away... omg... what a reach almost cartoonish.

They immediately started harassing him and then surrounded him and started straight up assaulting him physically. He literally did not do anything until that point.

What dumb questions by the prosecutor. A bird could have swept down and hit one of the people, causing it to go deeper. If your defense is that somebody fell into the knife. That's pretty lame. Maybe if the guy hadn't pulled the night to begin with, none of this would have happened

Defense: “Is it possible that as the defendant fell backwards, his and holding the knife reached out in front of him, just as Issac fell forward and stabbed himself with the knife the defendant was holding during his fall? Do you agree that this scenario could reasonably account for the extensive and forceful wounds on Issac? Yes?” Expert “🙄… sure…” The defense lost the jury when he suggested that Issac caused his own fatal wounds by falling on the knife Miu was holding and gutting himself, as he should have.
