Apple Pie Gouache Demo

My book, "Kodi":

Thanks for watching! This is a still-life of the ingredients for apple-pie I recently made with my kids. I love doing still lifes of kitchen materials because it's always available and there is a whole world of interesting surfaces and colors.
Happy sketching!

I will always be amazed by how in the beginning, nothing looks like anything but as you go through the entire video and process, you start to see things take shape. Gouache is a very scary medium to me, but watching your entire process kind of calms that fear down.

Is your son in the Intro saying “daddy loves to draw”? It’s so cute I say it with him everytime I watch your vids.

I don't know why but it was just like baking an apple pie. One minute your just serenely focused on the details, repeating a motion (washing, peeling, crimping) then all of a sudden a light goes on and you look and its perfect. Thank you for this tranquil moment. Your painting and your pie look wonderful.

Always learn such a lot from how you explain your method. I love that you use gouache as intended, the results speak for themselves.

It's so fascinating to see the way you paint and to hear the narration on how your creative process works. I've been following you way for a while now even though I'm painting portraits 😂 thank you for the video 👍
