Why did her husband tolerate his wife being given no food at lunch. That’s the limit right there. She should have walked out. And he should have gone with her. Denying. Pregnant woman any food for most of a day? Why would her husband tolerate that

Actually you'd be surprised how certain places in the US don't actually have hotels. Especially areas that were heavy farming or still are. The nearest one to us is about 30-40 minutes and that's with a highway. That's one actually nice hotel that was literally finished being built last year and I think 2 or maybe now 3 meh to bad motels. Any actually nice places are almost 2 hours away.

I wouldn't go anywhere I wasn't wanted. When I divorced my husband, my daughter was 7-8 years old. My in-laws were worried about me not coming around and not bringing my daughter. I told them I divorced their son, not them. They gave me an open invitation to all the family events/holidays. And I went, and I took my daughter there even for visits. He remarried 2 weeks after our divorce was final. I still went to the family things even with his new wife there. Then they divorced and he married again. I got along better with this 3rd wife. We acted like I was family, not an ex. Ex and I sort of just tried to not interact. But as I was leaving one holiday, the oldest daughter came out to me in my car and told me I should back out and not come around anymore since he has a new wife and baby on the way. I was really hurt. And started just dropping off my daughter but not staying....I made many excuses. Then one day when I went to visit without the extended family around. My in-laws asked me why I would not come to holidays anymore. So, I told them what their oldest daughter told me. They were infuriated. They said she does not live there and has no business telling people who can or cannot come around their home. So I continued coming for holidays for years. I had great in-laws. My daughter and her family moved away and so we do not visit anymore.

Why didn't you speak up prior? Why let someone you barely know dictate what the whole family wants? I mean, it sounded like they always wanted you around. Look, if those events were dropping your daughter off, you had something else to do, well great whatever. But if you were hurt and wasted time until picking your daughter up, it was kinda your fault. Wasted time that could've been resolved. Look, I agree I don't come where I am not wanted, but it's the owners of the house opinions matter.

@moniquestuckey-kirkham7762 I wondered if they all felt that way and didn't know how to tell me. I was so hurt because she was my favorite sister in law at the time, so I just said as I was told. I think it was only 1 whole holiday season before my MIL asked me why I wasn't coming in anymore.

It's not the kids job to support their parents it is the parents job to give what they can as far as advice after they are grown. But if the kids want to help out their parents then that is the choice that they have to talk over with their spouse if they have one. if not then if they are single and they want to help out their parents then that is their choice too. But telling someone to keep sending money after they have put a wedge between their spouse and their In-Laws then cutting them off is the right thing to do. I helped my parents out when I had the money to do so. But now I don't have the money and my parents don't expect me to help out because they know I live on a fixed income.

In other words, an unstable elderly woman who is jealous snipes at her DIL. As a response, the DIL laughs about condemning the old woman to a lifetime of isolation, grief, and poverty. The DIL even laughs. Which is worse, the jealous sniping (followed by an apology) or the condemnation of the newborn's grandmother with no possibility of redemption? Well, I know two things. 1) Max's life will be poisoned by guilt over piling on to ...kill...his mother and 2) this will never make it to the comments

To the authors: if I had voice actors (yours are wonderful) I'd set up a rival show with better endings. I'd get the people who love the genre but hate the aftertaste of k8cking unsound old people to death , then laughing. You can have the ones who relish cruelty, and I'll take the Christians. Except it'll never happen, no theater here. But it does inspire me a little to write some things that end with the character growing, instead of showing profound ugliness.
