I know this is an older video, but, Chris, your grasp of (and take on) color theory and composition are two of the (MANY) things that make your works so dynamic, intriguing, and interesting. You're sincerely one of my favorite artists and definitely my favorite mixed media artist. ❤ All the blessings, hope, and joy to you and yours!

This is the first time I am commenting anything on KZread; just wanted you to know that your videos inspired me to be more confident about my art. I’m also very slow drawing and never thought I was good enough. And watching you, little by little I regain the will to create and to take action. I’m even planning to launch my KZread channel beginning 2022; I’m in the process of filming and editing. So thank you; keep creating, your impact is greater than what you think. Also can’t wait to get a copy of Tumble in my hands! 😊

these studies are beautiful, i would love to see more (maybe the same layout of 6 drawings but with the female figure?)!!! when it comes to figure drawing, i usually tend to focus on gesture through line only. you've really inspired me to try looking at the figure from a light & shadow perspective. i can't wait to try this, thank you!

I’ve been struggling with a few figure drawings recently in watercolor pencil and this came at perfect timing! Good to see you back and creating! Can’t wait to watch in full later 💕 (Also the thing about figure drawings is that…. One tiny little mistake becomes the focal point and makes everything else look wrong and it’s been frustrating sometimes for me especially when working in a medium that is less forgiving 😅)

My life drawing course is starting to implement water color into our figure drawings; however, I am a beginner with water color. My instructor did not elaborate on how to use them. Now I find myself on KZread to master this craft. Your video is very helpful and your method is stellar! Thank you so much for making this video. I will be following along with my own practices later today.

I really enjoy this series of figure studies you’ve created, it’s making me get back into studies (and remember the struggle of learning all the muscle names, Latissimus Dorsi my old friend). I really like study #2 and #6 I felt you chiseled out strong shadow shapes, felt the weight of the pose, and really like the transitions from warm to cool tones.

Recently I feel somewhat disorientated in drawing. A friend of mind sent me this video and after I watched it I feel a lot calmer. The good thing in figure drawing is like exercising. Now I have a motivation to get back with exercising again. I'll rest my worries next to me and see how it's gonna go. And watercolour seems fun to do (I haven't touch watercolour for a long time). My favourite pose is 4 and 6. It's kinda amusing to know that 4 is your least favourite. It makes me realise that sometimes, when you don't like a piece you created, there may be another person finds it very likeable. Thank you for your video.

OHOHOHOOOOO i’m a lighting and costume major who mainly paints in watercolor and also you’re one of my favorite artists i follow WOW i feel very lucky rn very excited holy crap also! this semester in my theatre drawing class (where it’s all in greyscale unfortunately) we learned Notan, which is the method of only depicting extreme darks and lights instead of all the different mid tones, which is kind of what you allude to in this video and i thought it would be cool to mention :)

If one isn't very familiar with figure drawing, do you recommend sticking with a not-waterccolor-medium until they build their skills?

Probably, graphite is alot easier to control than water color since water gets all over the place sometimes as to graphite you are in full control of the medium

Love the study! But what I would reaaally love, would be to see how you create your poses from imagination. I fell in love with your last sketchbook and often wondered what your process was while creating your cute figures. I feel it would be a perfect sequel to all the figure studies if you showed how you implement all that practice in your personal work. Thanks so much and keep inspiring us ! 😊

Your gumroad link should have the thumbnails of reference poses of adults lacking clothes be blurred, along with "NSFW" or "Adult" in the title. I was at work when I clicked it and hopefully don't have to explain the reason. Also, underage artists could access it.
