APOSTLES OF PAIN - FGM in Ghana
If you ever thought that female genital mutilation has stopped in Ghana, then have a rethink. the practice is being done in secrecy as well as across the border to neighboring Togo and Burkina Faso.

This is abominable... There's nothing logical about it in any form. The shame is in the willful ignorance that allows a woman to commit this crime upon another... There's no honor here... Only subjugation and abuse...😢😢😢

Absolutely
I became aware of this practice at the age of 16yrs old while reading an article FGM in a French magazine (Paris Match). Today I am 59 and this Practice still exist 43yrs later. It's ashamed. It's about women. On one of the documentary the spoke lady said it took 10yrs to get rid of "Foot Binding in China". What about girls and young womem where this practice still exist?

hello Helene. its still a tradition strictly being practiced in some areas here in Ghana which makes it a challenge for them to say no. some even feel less of a woman and are mocked so they succumb to the pressures.

@@sarahapenkroh5829 It's still sad and you can't go against culture. Just the thought of the incredible pain would make you think that a mother wouldn't want her daughter to go through that. It makes me shiver
This sad. Our bodies are not made to be abused because of mans insecurity

Insecurity and PLEASURE. A Somali young woman told me how men will cut open their "virgin brides" on a wedding night so that they can get 'it in." Some GIRLS bleed to death. Demeaning the female gender is shocking, bad and wrong
Please 🛑it’s not okay. Give women the opportunity to be themselves. That it was Men Cotroll not now . Women get up together will and up this. ❤️.
terrific music

I agree
How did Europeans respond to this during colonialism? Did they try to stop it?

It appears they didn't take notice of that.

Interesting question. If the practice is still going on, I'm going to figure that white and tan men didn't care. The shame in this, too, is that there was a racist factor to this as well so unless the white "man" actually cared about the woman/girl they most probably considered the 'entire' African group shamefully "beneath them"
But yet, Black American women think it's a good idea to move to Ghana or Africa period? F that!
