APC Sketch with QuickTools in Blender

Фильм және анимация

Hey guys, this is the first video in a series of practical tutorials where I make some actual models/concepts while talking you through QuickTools and how I use these addons in the latest version of Blender. Please let me know if you find this useful and what other kind of demos you would like to see :)

    Quicktools has singlehandedly reinvigorated my love for doing concept art. As a primarily 2D artist I was always super put off by things like 3DSMax/Maya etc, 3DCoat was fine but crashed or destroyed my models every 5 minutes. Blender+quicktools has been the only thing that has made me feel free enough like I can just hop into blender and sketch out whatever I want in 3D without worrying too much about the technical aspects of 3D modelling. 10/10 would recommend

    Feel the same about 3D coat, it makes sense to me as a concepting tool but that UI / UX is horrendous. Anything that gives blender that same functionality is a blessing

    After 3.1 update, I am not able to go into "Line Mode" for QuickCurve when pressing ALT+SHIFT. Is there something wrong that I am doing? Edit: I think "Emulate 3 button mouse" in Blender preferences is messing with this. When turned off, the I am able to enter the Line Mode. Please look into it.

    You did an awesome job. I bought it instantly after watching Jama using it, but to be honest, after a try I din't like it at all. I didn't get use to this interface and controls, I am not very good at memorizing and the addon works only with shortcuts, it lacks of a menu or something like to make it more intuitive, the other way is to be constantly looking at the controls wich made it pretty annoying for me, and that after watching his tutorial. In the time that I need to get used to this controls I can learn a new software, as I am making now with 3D coat, wich is way better in every aspect than this addon and is pretty easy to use. I don't find any reason to use this addon instead of 3D coat, exporting something to blender takes 1 minute. I love Jamas work and tutorials, but I didn't like this adoon.

  • @Patxi__

    @Patxi__

    2 жыл бұрын

    @@ALKSNDR Yeah, this is definetly a point to your addon, the fact that the forms keep pretty low poly. I think would be good to implement some kind of menu with icons for the diferent tools, something more intuitive and easy to understand visually. Maybe some buttons where you can active the diferent tools instead of memoricing the shortcuts. In 3D coat I just memorized like 3 or 4 shortcuts, for most of the tools I just open the tool menu with space and click on them and then modify them if needed with e. But maybe is just me and my fish memory.
