Essentially Israel wants to block off Gaza and the West Bank, then take the best bits of the West Bank, and then it’s all cushtie. Except of course it won’t be because they ignore the Palestinian issue.

If Israel is not the occupying force what is it doing in Gaza? Further Israel is not looking for a "partner" to administer the area it is looking for someone to pay for the reconstruction of what it has destroyed. Get your facts straight.

The UN doesn't have an army, so member states would be required to mount such an operation. Who would come forward in the face of Israel's opposition? (US would veto it, anyway).

This guy talks like an expert on the middle east, when he has never set foot in the region, what pure unadulterated arrogance.

Currently Palestinian resistance are completely fighting all alone to an occupying state that has advanced weaponry system and receives a lot of help from many rich countries of the world.

A charismatic leader does not stumble all the time, capable of compromise and empathy to move forward towards the best for everyone. Natenyahu is good at trapping himself and shooting himself in the legs all the time. It is clear that he is trying to save his skin at all costs.

Where has self-government led? To this war. Fundamentally things have to change in the direction of greater security. Israel withdrew in 2005 and "self-government" since then has simply amounted to theft from the people, deprivation, suspension of elections and a total commitment to arming and violence.

Sure, but when will that election happen? My understanding is that they don't occur during wartime, the governing coalition is rupturing, or unless they are called for by the PM (I'm not that well-versed in parliamentary democracies and Israel's in particular), so there's no incentive for that until massive "centrist" Israelis start threatening Netanyahu's coalition.

Why don't you enlighten us?

There should be a tunnel along the border of Gaza and Egypt to prevent weapons getting in. And also a tunnel connecting Gaza and the West Bank, give the Palestinians some hope for the future. Radical ideas are needed to find a path towards peace. The international community needs to go in and stop atrocity when both sides allow it to happen.

Putting up physical barriers on the Gaza / Egypt border isn't what I'd call a radical idea. Unless you're going to do the same to Israel. Hypocrisy is what got us here, not applying the same rules and standards to all sides. Doing more of the same will just give more of the same results.

Ok ... do we know a single Arab country that is giving Palestinian refugees citizenship? Arab population of Israel, West Bank and Gaza increased from ~1 million in 1950 to 6 million in 2020. During the same time Jewish population of Arab countries reduced from ~851,000 in 1948 to 3,330 in 2018. So ... who is committing genocide of whom? What is going on now in Gaza, is a war that HAMAS started against Israel on Oct 7. If HAMAS care about civilians in Gaza, HAMAS could release hostages and surrender long time ago. Despite all the difficulties the ratio of civilians causalities to HAMAS militants is close actually ~1, which is the lowest ratio compared to any other recent conflict in urban area.

Israel signed the Geneva Conventions. We can expect them to obey Article 33 - Individual responsibility, collective penalties, pillage, reprisals. No protected person may be punished for an offence he or she has not personally committed. Collective penalties and likewise all measures of intimidation or of terrorism are prohibited.
