ABOUT THIS VIDEO
Anterior pelvic tilt and hip impingement - how are they are related? Does anterior tilt cause hip impingement? Does hip impingement cause anterior pelvic tilt? APT tells you that your hip, pelvis, and back muscles are not working well together. If you address the muscles that lead to anterior pelvic, you'll make it easier to fix your hip impingement related hip mobility challenges.

    It's so fun when you make these videos that instantly demonstrate what the issues are. Anything simple that you can do to show yourself how the body works is better than the most detailed diagnostic test. I've recently lost 30 lbs. and all of my joints feel loose, I think due to the change in load. I had never thought about my body as a combination of muscles and bones working together until I started watching your channel. After following your advice, I feel younger and stronger at 57 than I did when I was in my 20's. Thank you for sharing your insights and your personal journey.

    my body has been falling apart from years of what seems to be FAI... years ago I had a lot of hip "popping" but it went away. For the past few years I felt like my body was always twisted and I was always in some kind of discomfort... well, it recently got so bad that I have constant daily chronic pain in my right leg. I was doing some stretching, and tried contracting my abdomen when doing a psoas stretch, and suddenly my leg popped back into its socket. It was an incredible rush of relief. However, within a few days I noticed it had already re-seated itself back, and I still can't sit properly on my sit bones with my legs extended in front of me. whatever is wrong with me is so bad that I can't tell if I have anterior tilt and fai that lead to posterior tilt as a protection method or if i just have posterior tilt that's so bad it's causing fai.. because when i'm standing or sitting i struggle to go into an anterior tilt, my lower back wants to pull it back into a posterior tilt, which feels better to those muscles, but also leads to the leg pain and lower back pain it's been almost ten years of struggling, i've watched many of your videos hoping to find the answers thanks for continuing to produce content, i'll keep trying to fix myself somehow (the best part was going to doctor + PTs and being told it was in my head when I told them it felt like my body was misaligned... well, my joint literally sits incorrectly in its socket!)

    Great timing on this one for me, much needed info. I've had radiating pain in my butt, belt area at lower back, and hip flexor for about 6 months. It came on gradually and got worse as I've tried to figure out what's going on. I've also got that telltale pinching in the groin and both seated figure four and internal / external rotation are stiff. It's bad enough in the morning that my first few steps are painful and wobbly. I've been close to getting an image taken because a few people have suggested that to rule out OA. But here's a thing I've recently learned. I was walking A TON in a pair of high cushion, high drop running shoes that I had put a beefier insole into as well. I did this to take tension off my achilles tendon, which I had repaired two years ago. I was wondering if that extra inch and all that walking could've been part of the problem due to pelvic tilt. So a few days ago I switched to a low drop, flat foot shoe and while I still have lots of pain and symptoms, I feel like walking has improved. Obviously I have some work to do on the supporting muscle to guide my hip away from the pinching range. Very reassuring to see this video and to get this help -- thanks very much, great content!

    Ran into this issue HARD almost 3 years ago when I realized I couldn't do weighted squats in the gym anymore. Just sorta happened. Then I realized I had a hip impingement on my left side. This combination destroyed my athletic ability. Still haven't figured it out.

    I'm now fully lumbar fused as the horrible surgeon fused my L5 to the top of my sacram so my pelvis is like fused in anterior position. My left hip is bone on bone with 2 bone spurs. I feel the dif tho when I did the ab, tail bone tilt u stated. My hip flexors stay tight and at times it feels like I'm walking on stilts. . .

    I did the exercises standing with the opposite leg bent while standing on one leg with abdomen firing and rear end tight. But if I didn't have my exercise bike to hang onto, I would have fallen over. So is balance required to get the most out of that exercise? I also did the one laying with legs on a bench and raising the torso by firing the hamstrings with abs tight without a problem.

    What are your thoughts on pops like the kind you get when you crack your knuckles but in the hips? After butterfly stretch once you go to lie back I get very deep loud pops that don't hurt. Is it usually a good sign or a bad sign if anything?

    Any time I try to do anything from full extension to leg lifts or knee tucks, my right hip pops too. Seems like as my apt is worse throughout the week from longer work hours or whatever, it pops more.

    after 3 years and sugery on a herniated disc a postural therapist diagnosed me with APT but I figured out my quads and hip flexors are shortened because of weak abs glutes and hamstrings. Quesiton I have is after a year of leg training, specifically hams and glutes, why am I still having inflamed or shortened hip flexor. Ice and stretching helps as well as being on my knees at my desk.

  • @Uprighthealth

    @Uprighthealth

    Training your hams and glutes doesn't fix your hip flexor length and strength. You have to train everything around your hip for your hip to feel better!

    Some good info, but the part about FAI not being caused mechanically is BS. I do yoga and BJJ regularly, despite that one of my hips has much less ROM than the other. There is no pain, but there is a hard stop on one hip where there isn't on the other. My back erector muscles are favored to one side, and as an end result, I have back pain.
