As much as I love the game, I don't like the order in which they set everything up. They start you off picking an island with no knowledge of what's gunna be there, make you place an unmovable city hall, don't tell you that you're gunna have 10 villagers at one point, and don't give you any land controls until after everything is already in place lol

Narrow space. The more restricted you keep your pathways, the more you create the illusion that the island is bigger. It’s not that the space is larger, but taking more time to get around gives the feeling it’s bigger

The 5 stars easy root is flowers, furniture, and trees. In that order. Issabelle will never complain no matter how many flowers you add they only increase your rating. Furniture is second. Make vinettes with little things going on here and then. My orchard has a whole work area, my museum has a whole walk up filled with fossils, my villagers all yave decorated yards. Trees are the thing you can have too many of Issabelle will tell you when you've gone overboard. Personally I'm building a giant national park because I can't stand having an empty urban island so there are trees and flowers and nature decor EVERYWHERE.

Important to note: Don't go wild on fully decorating your island. There is an update with new features and buildings coming to ACNH, with the expansion of the museum as well as potentially coffee shops or an additional shop building. You could get to a point where you've decorated every part of your island and have no room for these new features. Similarly, you can use a second profile just for yourself and give yourself a second home. You can decorate this how you wish and you don't have to be stuck with the limit you have in your main player house. You can have a themed extra house and convert it into something else. Maybe you pretend it's an arcade, or a spa, or an indoor garden, add a signboard outside and you've created your own custom building

One correction about guaranteed 3 star by filling up your island. You actually most likely only need 8 villagers, at least 50 fences placed down, 50 outdoor furniture items placed, and 100 flowers outdoors. Then when you go to Isabelle she will say your island is 3 star rating and Slider will come to your island for the first time which is when you unlock terraforming

5 stars is important because only in a 5 stars town is there a chance for the lilly of the valley to grow on cliffs. So if you want that flower type you kinda have to reach and maintain that top rating!

Thank you so much for answering my question! I’ve managed to get my island to four stars while keeping it looking natural without any big crazy zen gardens or orchards or cafes or whatnot. But I’ve been struggling to get that last star, and I want it! But you’re right, I don’t want to overcrowd what I want my island to look like just to get the five stars. Your channel is great, BTW. Hello! I don't even have animal crossing yet, and I'm just looking at the comments. The tips I've found are pretty useful! Like you can only get the Lily of the Valley if you have 5 stars, and they grow on cliffs. I probably won't like scattering my buildings. Don't put random junk around your island for no reason. Flower breeding give you cooler flowers. Idek what they are for yet. Think of things you like, and try to make that kind of area in empty spaces. Be unique! Try new things! Have fun! Don't stress about random spaces that look weird, nothing can be wrong, or right. Thanks for all the helpful tips! ❤️

Another “tip” to keep in mind while designing your island is to not think about it too much and do one thing at a time. While I was going through the first SEVERAL phases of my island I would always overthink everything and never complete anything. When I decided to just go with the flow and work on one part of my island and complete it, the whole process just because a lot smoother, and these types it tips and tricks videos help with inspiration too if you’re stuck with an empty space of land you don’t know what to do with!

Once you get a 5 star you have to maintain it, anything that’s is DROPPED.. diys, materials, furniture is considered, “clutter”. If they item is PLACED, it is not, after 7 consecutive days of logging on (with a 5 star), you get a chance at getting a lily of the valley plant. (I have 3).

design tip to OFFSET tree placement. if ur trees are lined up in a perfect row it doesnt look very natural. i like to set one row of trees, each tree 3 blocks away from each other. then in the row behind/in front of them, stand on the square directly between the two trees, facing up or down, dig a hole and plant it there. it looks a lot more natural than perfect rows and it the branches dont touch. also ensures fruit a space to fall if u do it with fruit trees

I really respect that you wanted a baseball field. I chose the original shape of my island to set up a wrestling ring! I still don't have terraforming yet, but it is going to be the main focus.

Would love a part 2! If you do go ahead with it here is my question: Now with the news of Redd coming to the private beach have you any design ideas to incorporate this and also for how to get to it easily? Loving these design idea videos, have definitely used several of them on my island so thanks!!

I like the way I have my houses set up, two in the back top level, 3 in the middle and two in front. I tried to make the whole back section more old looking and weathered, and have my two urban residents in the front. I haven’t seen anyone do this, anyway I really like how it turned out!

I’ve put little “flowerbeds” in and planted trees in them, it makes the tree placement look intentional.

I got 5 star somehow. Isabelle kept saying to make stuff from the island, so doing a lot of DIY’s help. I have a ton of flowers and fences too. Make sure there’s trees too. I got 5 stars before I was even on the layout I wanted. My Nooks cranny didn’t upgrade yet either. Making sure you have a lot of villagers is also a key!

I’ve been thinking the same!! I’ve been playing around with terraforming if you have that unlocked- so you could do a two story garden, or have some rivers around the flowers, or maybe a pond in the middle. But I’ve also seen some really cool custom designs for flower beds! (Also color coding the flowers or rainbow order by each flower type?) Hope this helps! Tag back tv has a video on flower breeding and the custom path codes!

@@madeleineedwards1872 I have sort of an idea of the layout for mine so far.. but I just have a TON of different flowers that I'd been breeding for weeks and now I have no idea how I should arrange them. Like by color, or by type. Or if certain types look good together or anything like that

I have a suggestion! When labelling your fruit trees/orchards, if you have the diy for it, put the design on the "plain wooden shop sign" diy. It makes it so your label isn't on an easel/on a diagonal, the design faces forward and is a bit less intrusive on the vibe of the area.

Question: Would you do a furniture set spotlight? There are a bunch of furniture sets and there isn't much information online about it, I for one would like to know about the seasonal furniture sets because I plan to make one room for all 4 seasons (with two extra rooms for other things) but I don't know about all the furniture sets I could use to mix and match, for now I only have an idea for my spring bathroom (Sakura-, Bamboo- and Zen- furniture sets with the cypress bathtub)

You can keep some weeds on your island and still get 5 stars, I'm glad because I like their look, they are nice to have when it feels there are too many flowers. I was able to keep a "wild area" on my island :)

I managed to get a 5 star island just by having lots of fences (an area for each villager), lots of flowers (doesn't have to be an outrageous amount), a good amount of items out (this is helped by having areas for each villager), and I'd only just started putting down paths etc. I think I only had 8 villagers at the time also. Just play at your own pace and it might surprise you when you reach 5 stars!

Not sure if you know, but when you reach a 5-star island, you can receive the golden water can which can turn black roses to gold roses. I'm taking it real slow, still, at 3 stars, everything upgraded but I'm not pressed, there are still some things I need to do but I'm taking my time. You could just do a couple of the things you said just to get the watering can then revert back to the way you want it.

I think it depends on what the person likes. I love the idea of a crowded island. I want every space to have something on it and have lots of structures! I get how some may like a nice spacious and natural island, but having a crowded island isn’t a bad thing either (:
