Not just how you lived your daily lives, but having these questions, answers, and stories about your lives documented, and told in your own voices will be so special for them to have. I know your intention is to educate everyone about life in Appalachia, and that is wonderful, as I live across the mountains in the foothills of the Smokies. I love hearing your stories! When Matt was talking about his favorite Bible verse, memories flooded back. My grandmother had twin beds in her room. All 24 of her grandchildren sleep at one time or another in the twin bed opposite of her bed. Before bed, my grandmother would read a daily guidepost story, a Bible verse and then pray. She was a wonderful grandmother and miss her everyday. That little extra twin bed is in my spare bedroom now. I received it in her will. It is most cherished and waiting on my grandchildren someday. Thanks for the memories.

Dear Tipper and Matt. I'm just a regular gal (your age) born and raised in Washington state. Washington is timber, fishing, hunting, and farming country, and is where my dad was born and raised. His folks, Danish, moved here and settled into the trades mentioned above. People tend to think of the Pacific Northwest as progressive, but back in the day, people here were poor, hardworking, tolerant of mud, and very courageous. My dad ran off and joined the Navy when he was old enough and met my mama in San Diego. They married and moved back here to Washington. My mom's folks were from Oklahoma and Texas. Both of her parents had their fair share of Native American blood, as well as lots of southern traditions, sayings, and ways of cooking. One of my favorite meals is beans and cornbread. I'm also fond of green fried tomatoes. Trout has always been a thing here in the Pacific Northwest, but fortunately, so is salmon, which I like a whole lot better because of its mild flavor. The reason I am writing is because I feel very close to you and your ways in heritage and spirit. I grew up under an umbrella of Southern-style Christianity and Viking lore (odd mix, but wonderfully colorful). I watch you two and your girls, and no matter what you're discussing, I feel a sense of closeness and familiarity. It is important to me that you understand that the content you share, your willingness to share, and the gentle and authentic style in which you communicate your content is invaluable. I am old enough now for the family members that came before me to be mostly gone. I miss them, as I'm sure you do Miss Cindy, Pap, and the rest. Those, for me, brought my heritage to life. There is no further preserving it in the now progressive Northwest, where nothing much matters except money and self. I have done my best with my kids, but I fear they'll never truly understand the value of the past the way that Corey and Katie do. I love you all very much. I'm so grateful to be able to feel a connection to you through this technology. There is no way that I'm the only one out here feeling such gratefulness for what you all bring to the world. Please keep it up for all our sakes. Thank you for keeping this sliver of American heritage alive... even if it can only be an ideal for many or a brush with memory for others. So appreciative. Dana

Know this. I am in southern WV. I do have many relatives in Oregon because my Mom's parents, other relatives, and she and my Dad migrated there in the 50s for the orchard and timber jobs. The coal industry was at a standstill here. A lot of them stayed, including four of Mom's five siblings. I was conceived there but was born here a month after they came back. But regardless of where we live, these good people speak with a universal language. Full of tradition, family, God, and just all around LOVE. I absolutely know exactly what you are saying and feeling!❤

I've stayed in southern WV until retirement. Born and raised here and a childhood full of old fashioned people and values that I wouldn't trade with anybody! And for 44 years I worked for out of state companies. And always some employees who were idiots while attempting to degrade me and where I live. I'm good natured for the most part and could give as good as I got. Except for the few times I had to give a little more!👃🤛😏 And I'm still super proud to be from here!

Please keep on talking, Tipper. I love the history, the family stories, the folk wisdom, and the sound of your voice. Those who want to hear just the recipes should use a cookbook or Pinterest. My first impression of Matt has changed a lot since the first video I watched a couple of years ago. He had just come in from what must have been a very tiring day and you handed him a plate of food to taste. You tried to coax a few words out of him and got mostly grunts. I felt so sorry for you having to live with grumpy. But much to my delight, that was just one of those off days we all have. I’ve learned that while he isn’t as outgoing as you, he is friendly, supportive, loving, fun-loving and steadfast. I’m happy now to see him along side of you in many of your videos. You’ve got a wonderful family!

Love this! Thank you! Tipper you never talk too much! I do feel like you all are missionaries putting yourself out there and being a wonderful example and blessing to so many of us. We have a lot of brokenness in our families so I'm so grateful my husband is my best friend too. Different members have disowned us so your videos are sooooo comforting and encouraging. Prayers for Granny.

I just received the news that no one wants to hear. The biopsy is malignant. My anxiety is through the roof. I played praise music which helps, held onto my scriptures that get me through, prayed with a friend and then turned here. I know that laughter, joy, family, faith and love are all on display. Thank you for a bit of peace during the turmoil.

Thanks Tipper and Matt. You bring me such joy as it brings back memories of when my mom was alive and the talks we shared about gardening, food and cooking. You all eat the same foods we ate together and the food I still prepare. You do fill a huge void in my life. God bless!

I really enjoy your videos and live vicariously through y’all. I miss the good ole days when I grew up in the 60’s and early 70’s. I learned so much from my Grandparents and my Aunt. People back then cared, loved and looked out for their family, friends and neighbors more than they do now 😢. The young people are gravitating towards humongous churches and the small community churches are barely hanging on. We don’t have a lot of young people in our church and the older folks are going on in little by little 😢

My grandmother had 10 children and one year for Mother’s Day they all chipped in and bought her a mother’s ring with all 10 birthstones, it’s three rows of stones on two gold bands fused together. We are plain country people but my grandmother never took that ring off, it was the only piece of jewelry she ever owned, when I was a kid I would pick dough out from around the stones and clean it up for her with an old toothbrush. I was lucky enough to receive that ring after her death 30 years ago and it was on my right hand the day I walked down the aisle to be married. I never wear it, it’s put away in my jewelry box, but I feel so blessed to have that piece of her and the wonderful memories attached to it. ❤

Okay i'm just starting the video but just reading the title- my dad never wore his ring because he hated jewelry, and I guess that is subversive? But he was the best man, the most loyal husband and awesome father. It's just jewelry, bought and sold. Your heart is where the commitment lies :)

I'm gonna throw my unsolicited thought in. When you got ready to answer what you think you're teaching thru your channel my first thought was you're teaching family. You're such a close family and your girls are such good, God loving ladies and you just radiate good family values. It's also good to see folks who take such joy in living off the land. You're just good people.

I really enjoy the Q&A videos, but then I like all your videos. I will say I laughed more during this Q&A than I have the other ones. You and Matt are just so funny together and the sweetest couple. I think I like y’all so much because you’re real, open, honest and down to earth. Tipper, I promise you that you do not talk to much and Matt knows exactly what he’s doing with everything he does and he does not look like he’s your son either because you look to young. You and Matt both look young and are perfect for each other. Apparently that person(s) who said those things are what they call Trolls and they are just mean spirited people who have nothing else in life to do put be mean to others. You, Matt, Granny, the girls, and Austin are wonderful people and we all like y’all just as you all are! Y’all our our kind of people!
