Step into the world of Seán McGirr's debut at Alexander McQueen, where fashion meets film noir in a dark and captivating runway show. Held in a damp warehouse in the midst of London's East End, the show transported attendees into the gritty underworld of the city.
Drawing inspiration from the rough glamour of figures like the Kray Twins and Francis Bacon, McGirr's collection explored the darker corners of London's streets with gangsters, glamazons, and artists strutting down the runway.
Linking design threads from the past to the present, McGirr reimagined iconic McQueen pieces with a modern twist, creating a streetwear-oriented collection with dramatic tailoring and nonchalant silhouettes.
From reworked cling-film dresses to overdyed knit cardigans cinched with safety pins, each piece exuded rawness and sophistication. McGirr's use of smashed crystals and embroidery added a brutal edge to the collection, while hourglass molded aluminum "car" dresses paid homage to his father, a mechanic.
