My friend made the same MISTAKE as you guys, which is watching a LONG anime last. Your anime plot building pace and attention span are ruined by watch new gen animes like AOT, JJK, CSM, Demon Slayer etc. Watching Naruto after watching all these new gens, then Naruto will feel EXTREAMLY SLOW PACED and Boring. Like it did to my friend. And I watched Naruto first and loved it. Then watch all new gen animes before watching one piece, will resulted in One Piece feeling extremely slow paced and boring to me. So just be aware of this.

True but your also saying that like One piece and Naruto have good pacing when in reality, Naruto pacing isn't great and OP pacing is horrendous. So they're gonna feel slow either way

@@rydercollins5553 I would say the both have pretty awful pacing, and I would even go so far to put Naruto below OP. While OP will pad out scenes from the manga with reaction shots from anyone even remotely present in the scene, Naruto has the infamous swing flashback which is shown soo many times you can make an anime episode length of just the times its shown. I actively found myself relying on filler sites and skipping 5-10s ahead while watching Naruto while in One Piece it only became really painful in certain arcs. Love both shows though and hope Naruto can get a remake like One Piece is getting to hopefully bring these shows in line with modern anime pacing.

@@Mandakini-0diwan I kinda agree. Haven't rewatched the show in 15 years and I read that arc in manga half a year ago and it's a shame bc it's very good. It blows every other shonen 1st arc out of the water, but it must suck watching it with long runner pacing. I doubt that will change much in later arcs but at least the storytelling gets better.

This anime will have a special place in your hearts when you guys are done with it.

Naruto was my first anime (asides from Beyblade when I was a kid), and I think it was the best introduction to this genre for me. I don’t think it’s perfect, nor the best, but it’ll always hold a special place in my heart. Naruto just connects with you in a way that no other anime does. I hope y’all enjoy this journey, because it’ll truly be like no other.

Other than Pokémon (I had no clue what anime was) Naruto was my first true intro to anime back when I was 9. I Couldn’t have chosen a better starting point, as that show has quite literally shaped the way I treat & interact with people. I seriously think it’s a show everyone should at least give a try because the lessons it try’s to push have always stood the test of time. Not to mention the best fights / villains (imo) shonen has to offer 😤😤😤

Actually gojo was inspired Killian , kakashi and Urahara While his personality is inspired from Urahara. Kakashi is also inspired from Killua. Naruto part 1 is basically mix of hunter hunter and yuyu hakusho. Both of these inspired also JJK.

The Forest of Death is when Naruto hooked me in. Probably my favorite part of OG Naruto

The first Naruto series starts out a little slow for a lot of reasons (weekly airing, early 2000s, made for younger kids mostly, etc), but just as was noted, it DEFINITELY picks up with the Chunin Exams. The Chunin Exam Arc is known widely as one of the best opening arcs/arcs period still. I think it will start to build steam now as you dive in deeper - no filler definitely helps, but Naruto is one of those series that you can really, really tell gets better as it goes, both in story and animation. Can't wait to see how you feel about it! :~)

I love the written test. Never seen a more creative way of showing characters' fighting abilities than through a written exam and also the short ibiki backstory helps you grasp the responsibilities of a chunin in this world but i get it being tiring after so many hours. I think it would have hit harder had they watched it "normally"

I actually watched Naruto shippuden before Naruto lol coz my brother literally forced me to skip Naruto and just watch Naruto Shippuden and honestly I missed nothing and actually became a fan because of shippuden. I watched Naruto much later but really couldn't finish it, it was underwhelming for me. Glad I watched shippuden first coz I know i wouldn't have liked it if I started with Naruto. It was just too cringey for me.

It's polite to refer to someone who is older than you as Onee-san (Sister/Miss) or Oni-san (Brother) when you're a child if you don't know their name or if you're friendly with them. So if you see someone call another character sister/brother/grandpa when they're clearly a stranger it's just the custom.

To answer Carter’s question without being spoil-y, the difference between Naruto and Naruto: Shippuden is that the show, at the time, aged with its viewers. Naruto is much more kid-friendly, going into less deep concepts and having lower stakes. Shippuden on the other hand, has much higher stakes, much more mature characters (literally, they all grow up), and deeper concepts + more fletched out symbolism. There’s just more weight to Shippuden, Naruto is more on the airy side (not to say though that there’s not many mature themes)

Honestly sometimes I'd argue Naruto is the less kid-friendly of the two. Shippuden has its fair share of violence and dark themes, but it also has a lot more censorship than the original thanks to changing TV regulations in Japan. Take this first Zabuza arc for example. We'd never see that much gore in a Shippuden fight. (Barring Obito vs the Mist Jonin or Jiraiya vs Pain)

As someone who loves watching anime, I have been following your channel with great admiration for a long time. I've watched most of your videos, whether it's Vinland Saga or Avatar. And in all these videos I watched, especially the videos where you watched and reacted to the anime, my only wish, I mean my biggest wish, was that you would watch Naruto. it's one of the first animes that I watched, so it has a special place in my heart. I don't know... Everyone feels different things when they watch everything, but for me, this anime is so different. I watched 220 of the 220 episodes without slowing down, and I have all the songs in my memory, I love it so much and I'm super super excited right now, You can't imagine how surprised I was when I saw this video on my homepage! I feel like I'm going to faint from excitement and happiness right now. I mean, I'm so excited I can't even explain it!

Hey i'm so glad to see this comment, i feel the same way! Naruto is just truly special, i haven't loved any other characters from any other anime as i have loved Naruto characters, and the story is just so good! It's my favorite anime for some personal reasons like the way Naruto dealth with loneliness meant so much to me when I was watching it, but other than that, it's just really well written as well! Like it's really really good and i just don't know how else to describe it haha.

No matter how many new anime I’m watching Naruto will remain my first love my forever favorite 😢 guys Naruto is everyone’s childhood this is the reason we started watching anime and in that times Naruto was the best anime in the world , you get detailed stories you get 3 to 4 episodes to finish a fight you get 1 hour long special episodes that got us hyped , i miss the old times anime , new gen anime is short and fast and has like 12 episodes to wrap everything together!! I hope you don’t get bored watching Naruto cuz it will start getting better and better after last episode you watched,and i think you should skip the fillers.

Okay Cannon so uh- Naruto adds "dattebayo" at the end of some of his sentences, it's something only he does and it doesn't mean anything. I think Japanese is more flexible than English for those sorts of things. That's probably what they translated as "believe it" but it sounds kind of weird to say that after a lot of sentences randomly in English. None of the subs i had watched had translated the dattebayo part but i guess some of the episodes you watched did write "believe it" haha. It's a cute little quirk he has. Also putting on glasses after a while is just so relatable.😂🤓

51:01 oh boy it's for reasons like this that I'm a little glad they binged. when "fights" have you feeling like pushing through a chore, you know it's rough. it's not very entertaining for a reaction either, so I'm glad yall got through the beginning quickly instead of doing it weekly/daily

So happy you guys are watching Naruto. This series is so good and keeps getting amazing after every arc. About the hate you guys are mentioning about Sakura (very minor spoiler) but you gotta look at it as Sakura isn't born into some big clan like Sasuke is and doesn't have a 9 tailed fox like Naruto. She's a "normal" shinobi with no gifted talents, so in front of Sasuke and Naruto, she really can't do much. What stands out for her is her amazing chakra control and her intelligence on shinobi related things etc. And later on she will be getting better and more important as she tries to find her way. This is a big part in her character. Keep up the great vids as always guys.

I like the tactical demonstrations in this anime a lot, so I never was bothered by the slower pace of it and it actually building the characters correctly. Also on the verge of one of the best arcs in the OG series.

Guys the slow pace is because this is an old show and that's the animation standarts of back then. Like the reason why an arc takes up so many episodes is this. Yeah all big three is like this, it's just how it was before. I personally don't really have a problem with that, no one else i know does either, it is just what it is so we watch it, and that's not the story's fault, but yeah, i guess you should just accept that haha. Naruto has an amazing fight coreography, i think one of the bests, but it's only natural the fights don't look the same quality as today's animation. Still extremely epic fights are in store for you though. Sakura is just a normal girl, like she's just a 12 year old who has had a fairly stable life until now and is from a normal lineage. I was 12 when I first watched Naruto and i made all the girls in my class also watch some of it back then, one even bought the manga to read, and all of them said their favorite was Sakura because she was funny and relatable. They also loved her design haha. I was flabbergasted by that because i didn't really like her that much because of how she treated Naruto (i really related to Naruto at the time so i was kinda biased-) but i guess it just shows that Kishimoto was kind of on point haha. The first arc is so wildly loved because it sets the tone perfectly for the rest of the story. The diologues in fights is what makes Naruto very special, you can not find another story that does it like Naruto. The interactions between the villains and the heroes is one of the most important aspects of this show, because through that Naruto develops. He hadn't really thought of the governing system of the ninja world before meeting Haku and Zabuza, they made him realise there were wrongs in the system, this is where his mindset has started to build and his goals of making the system better also started. Naruto's ability to relate to and understand his opponents (because he has suffered so much, most of the villains are made because of tragedies much like Naruto has had to endure since he was born) changes the course of a lot of lives and dives into questions like how can he stay good and what is it that kept him from straying away all that time. The way the story talks about loneliness and the cycle of hatred is very good imo. So yeah, Haku talked that much during the fight because he wasn't really a bad person, there was a mutual understanding of the ninja life between everyone there. Villains get a lot of respect by the narrative in Naruto because they serve many great purposes. It is through things like this that Naruto can tug at people's heartstrings. Naruto is also the reason why since childhood i believed everyone deserved a second chance i think. It's quite late rn (bc i stayed up to finally finish this video) so idk if what i'm saying is coherent i wish i could express this better. That snake guy was in my nightmares when i was watching that btw, he is such a scary villain. And Naruto is actually smart, y'all did a disservice to my boy.😂 Realise how he realised the bruises on Lee's hand before Sasuke? He is actually great at strategizing in fights but i guess you'll see more of that later. Also rewatching this with you guys is making me really emotional and realise just how good Kishimoto was at subtle storytelling from the start! Everything the characters go through makes so much sense with the little expressions the show and decisions they make, it's really making me appreciate the writing. I'm reaaally excited for you to finish the chunin exam arc because so many crazy things happen! And sorry for the long comment, it's really your fault for dropping a 2 and a half hour long video on me without notice. I'm now sleep deprived.

The first arc is about what it means to be a ninja, the perfect ninja is just an instrument without emotions who follows the order. Even zabuza that was raised to be the perfect ninja killing is classmates wasn't capable of turning off his emotions and then there's Naruto who decides that this isn't the way he wants to become a ninja. Kakashi also choosing his squad wanted someone who isn't a perfect ninja and promoted the trio when they broke his rules to protect their friends

Naruto is definitely slow paced and there's a lot of talking but imo, the Chunin exams pacing was actually really good.

The thing you need to understand is that this anime was the goat back in the day. Anime has changed in the last 20 years.

This show (well specifically shippuuden) literally never stops getting better. Every episode before the one youre watching at the time is gonna feel like peak compared to the last Pacing improves, dialogue improves, animation improves, story improves, development improves, characters improve, hype improves, the journey both past and present improves.

Her lack of ability in og is almost fully Kakashis fault. He abandoned her even though he knew Sakura was a specialist in Chakra control which could’ve made her a genjutsu genius. But he left her on her own and didn’t prepare her at all for the chunin exam.

Anyone with brain could perfectly understand why Sakura is supposed to be weak in the OG. Her generation is full of kids from shinobi clans while she is from normal civillian family. Naruto is what he is, Sasuke, Neji and Hinata have kekkei genkai, Ino-Shika-Cho, Kiba and Shino all come from shinobi clans that have their own exclusive abilities and jutsus that pass down to generations. Sakura's got nothing, no special lineage, no secret jutsu from family, no one to train her at home like the others. She had her brain, exceptional chakra control and affinity to genjutsu, all of these natural talents that would have made her stronger if they were nurtured and trained properly but didn't. Her teachers until now failed her honestly. Lee and Tenten are also presumed from normal family but thanks to their teacher they found what they specialize in and proceeded to focus on that to the extent that they stand out from others. Actually even Naruto would have been as "useless" as Sakura if he hadn't stolen the forbidden scroll and managed to learn kage bunshin. He similarly to Sakura also had no one to hone his ability and teach him anything really useful, couldn't even do normal clone. Without kage bunshin, boy would just be transforming into the fox every fight XD. But of course he is the mc and has large chakra pool and durability so even then he is still stronger than Sakura. Sakura also at first doesn't take being kunoichi seriously which is again due to the environment she grew up in. Others born into clans are expected to be ninja and they grow up surrounded by their clan's shinobis with opportunities to be trained from young age by them outside of academy. As Sakura starts going on missions and take chunin exam she herself acknowledges her own lackings, how weak she is compared to the others and how she is vain to care more about her appearance than her ability and the start to change begins from there. Slowly she changes, resolves to get stronger and starts seeking out ways to do so. And she did. Sakura is embodiment of born weak is not a choice but staying weak is a choice.

The thing is at 35:00 you say you hate certain characters but honestly older anime like this are a slow burn. They tell a story, build a world, evolve characters, it's not 24 episodes and finished type deal so you need to be in it for the long run essentially. Specially with The Big 3. They all start slow but pick up really nice after the first arc or two. It's hard to go from watching anime movies and recent series to watching an older classic. Even OG Dragon Ball feels slow now compared to things like JJK or AoT.

man, seeing naruto and its iconic scenes (like zabuza's death), always hits right in the feels. They might not be as grandiose as other more "technical" anime like death note or AoT. Not to infer one of either is more inferior to the other, but I realize that classic anime like the big 3 (naruto, one piece, and bleach), while I acknowledge are more "non-sensical", they play more with your feelings

I love how this anime goes from really childish, to arguably the most mature out of the big 3. The tension/seriousness escalates as the show progresses, by a long shot
