Despite some "fans" closing the door on her, melka will show why she's captain of this very promising team. Good luck to the Baby Russians (lol) too as they take the lessons gained here and prepare for Tokyo. And congrats on earning an additional olympic spot!

I was gonna say the same thing

I usually cringe through floor choreography, but she puts so much energy into it that it's actually really good. How refreshing. She has incredible stamina to put so much effort into the tumbling and dance.

Her difficulty was higher yes, but her routine looked rushed and messy at times. Melnikova looked terrific but Jessica was clean and consistent the whole way through, she won fair and square

Imao melnikova was screwed comparing to ther rest of the field but she won bronze in tokyo and flew jess out of water

this is gymnastics old style - where there is artistry an expression... very few gymnasts who this nowadays. Simone Biles for example is great at gymnastics, no doubt about it, but her floor lacks what this floor has.

It's a shame because her old floor routines actually used to have a lot more flair to them (the ones during 2014 or 2015 I think). When her passes got harder, her choreo got shorter since it'd be too much to do the difficulty she does AND more turns and choreo. I really love melnikova's floor though. I love that she uses more turns in her routine since that's rarely used nowadays, especially with the dance element cap

That was a 5.9 routine, potentialy a 6.0 one. Most of the US girls only have routines around 5.2-5.8 with harder tumbling passes.

@Leigh L I was talking about the rest of the US girls, but you have a point! Also, about the UB situation it depends. Both Vika and Vlada are training a 6.4 routine, Gelya on the other hand will probably stay with her 6.3 one. The 4th spot is still a mystery for Russia. They can either send Agafonova or Minaeva (both with high D-scores on bars).

@Leigh L I mean, this also goes for Russia. Maria Minaeva currently has a 5.9 floor routine and a couple of months ago she posted a video of her training a Chuso. We can't also compare the depth the US has with the Russian one (sadly lol)

@Leigh L I'm not sure about that because of Gerasimova's performance. There are also a lot of contenders for the 4th spot, so we might find out that until the Russian Cup.

She seemed rushed, not very fluid. It's a work in progress.

Litterally deserved Gold. Explain how this was an 8.0? Maybe this was fairly scored but i feel like she was robbed and should have won gold. Either way a great Euros, 🥇🥈🥈🥉

She was absolutely amazing, but Jessica's execution was almost perfect, while Gelya had tiny steps here and there, it was close but fair. Love them both, can't wait to see them competing again

Doesn’t matter if “u fell like she was robbed and should’ve won gold”. She had a plus 0.1 deduction on her chuso, big step on her third pass, very iffy Y turn and illusion and two steps on her double pike. If she had less one of this errors, she would’ve won gold. It’s kinda understandable if u are her stan and the gap was really close as well. But the results were right, she deserved a silver.

@@gavinadkins8914 on the women’s side you’re supposed run straight from the corner of the floor into most of theirs tumbling passes. You’ll notice that most gymnasts step into the corner and go into their tumbling pass straight away without the second leg hitting the floor.
