Still winning gold even when shes not doing her strongest events (AA, FX) 🤩

Too me , Melanie has EVERYTHING to be a AA medal contender. I get the impression she feels a lot of pressure to perform as she is looked upon as the leader of the French team. Seeing those tears at 2019 World Championships was heart breaking. She just needs as Simone said to her to believe in herself. She needs to take a page out of Simone's book, be confident about your ability and do YOU.

I think one huge problem with French athletes is imposter's syndrome. They have this thought at the back of their mind that even making Olympic or world finals is HUGE because you know, they aren't the Americans or the Chinese or whatever country they picture as the champion factory for their chosen sport. Or, anytime they do win a global competition, it's a "one hit wonder" because they really can't imagine the possibility of actually dominating a discipline. Melanie finally seems to be getting out of that self sabotaging mindset (which is evident she had when you listen to the way she talks about her competition to the French press) and realize that it really mostly comes down to the athlete themselves and that she has everything it takes physically to challenge anyone who is not Simone. I hope she continues for a little while after Simone retires and starts collecting medals at worlds.

I am not a specialist of gymnastics, I watch sometimes some videos. And from what I see, I think that France want to be as good as the Americans and the Chinese, so they tend to pressure their athletes. In the late 90s, there was a young talent named Elodie Lussac, she had everything it takes to be a gymnast, she could have definitely been an Olympic champion, but she had too much pressure, she had to do competitions with a completely broken black and had to stop competing because she couldn’t even walk normally and had to wear a corset for months. It’s not easy to do an high level sport when you are so young.

Actually like you said routine as a whole is very clean. And I would actually not call the dismount yikes. Looking at the slow mow and you can see that the form is actually pretty good throughout the skill: legs together and she gets decent height. Chest is just slightly down and it looks like she was just surprised by the landing so she bounced out of it. So I don't necessarily agree that the skill is being done poorly.

@@chrisw3214 Thank you!
I love these commentators, the americans, not so much, they sound snobby and good for nothing, these are young ladies whose been training their whole life for these let them have their moment for god sake !!
She needs to improve the correction of the feet, the elegance of the gestures and the flexibility.

I think that’s a bit too high considering her dismount was about 0.3 and chest down, and her switch ring should’ve had lots of deductions

@@nathanielhalls1893 She was really solid. She had one noticeable balance check, the rest of her deductions were for form, flexibility and the dismount. 2x Front pike: (tuck) .1 each Layout: (pike down) .1 Split 1/2: (flex) .1 Switch 1/2: (flex) .3 Split: (balance ) .1 Switch ring: (flex, back arch, foot) .3 Dismount: (legs apart .1, flexed feet .1, low chest .3, landing .5) 1.0 Edit: Just a guess btw lol
Has she committed to ucla?

Not sure if this shouldve been above Sanne. This routine is pristine clean but the dismount is yikes. Again the stupidity of FIG giving .2 bonus for F/G dismount encourages people to do hard dismount poorly.

I guess her difficulty boosted her anyway, her E-score is quite low. But it was a close call.

@@bagelized that’s what i mean. She won by her D score, which is fair and 100% deserving. But if FIG doesn’t make that stupid .2 bonus, she would lose.

If only Sanne had done the same dismount. Oh wait. She can't. lol. Too bad. Yay Melanie!

Sanne deserved gold.
what horrible routine and horrbible final
