I can see why you said that I was kind of cringing myself. However, be nice, she's got time to work on it. I see the potential here it's just not there yet I just think if it was me. There is no way I would do that in competition. I would feel like awful about myself if I was performing at that level in the gym let alone competition.

Maybe if clean - not with that many hesitations, missed connections, balance checks, and form in a couple places. Very difficult though. Her bars are insanely good. Overall, she couldnt or wouldnt beat a clean full difficulty Simone in aa but would be in contention for aa medal with andrade, shilese jones, a healthy suni lee, gadirova etc

I can't wait until either these wolf turns finally go away or it finally becomes required that there has to be some kind of choreography going directly into the skill or some kind of smooth transition into the skill. The way she twists to set her foot here - and she's just one of many who do this - honestly makes me think of someone getting on the toilet. The spin itself is nice if done correctly but the prep or movement going into it that so many out there do is just awful.

Her backhandsprings are the scariest in elite gymnastics. That silivas was terrifying, and the handspring beforehand was awful.

Gelya was not training much. She has other projects that are more important for her (like opening a free gym club in her hometown)

Wow. She is a great gymnast but they mustn’t have very good talent depth in Russian lately for her to win the all-around Gold on a fall on floor.

@@agent606 I think you’re right but luckily for Viktoria she is the star of the program and Valentina will hopefully work with her to make adjustments to her new height once the growth spurt is finished. With Kyla, her coaches tried to help her but Marta couldn’t care less about her because aly and gabby were coming back so suddenly Kyla was replaceable.

Not her best... I don't get why her coaches don't correct her beam feet onto the springboard when she vaults. It always leads to significant leg separation and a weird bent knee in the pre-flight. It wouldn't be hard to fix, and as is it just eats away at her E score

She’s definitely hit quite a large growth spurt. It’s effecting her gymnastics in the worst way.

I just get any soul in her gymnastics. It’s very robotic for me.

I agree, she's too focused on completing the elements rather than being in the experience and being an exceptional performer. It's a lot of start and stop, and it could use a little bit better flow.

i don't remember the last time she didn't fall in an all around competition... maybe at the 2020 Tokyo Games qualifications?

Sad that many Russian athletes won’t see the international stage due to the war. They seem to make many weird technical mistakes that we never see from Russians. Leg separation on vault. Crazy weird leg kicks on bar dismounts. Many other things are gorgeous but these deductions will keep them off the podium.

I really love the Ghostbusters music, but it doesn't go with the music in the first part of her floor program...and the dance choreography really didn't go with any of it, though she's a beautiful dancer. What happen to the Russian choreographer who went to work for FIG? I know its been a while and she probably doesn't still live in Russia, but they should send the girls to her for their floor programs or have her consult virtually.

I disagree. Ghostbusters is the furthest thing apart from that first musical piece. I read music, play the piano and took musical composition and dance for 15 years. The song and the piece do not mesh. The dance style for the beginning and end of the program do not marry, for many reasons. I understand what they were attempting. It can be done, but not the way they did it and not with those choices. I don't blame the gymnast at all. She's clearly very talented.

@@mjamitche5245 Well, I don't think so. I think the classical song climbing into a crescendo, hitting a high point, then descending back down into the ghostbusters theme makes it work. Putting a rather neutral dance element, followed by a tumble run with the transition eliminates any awkwardness in the change. The choreo for both parts reflects the change of style. I can understand why it seems like it doesn't work since Listunova's expression in the dance was the same throughout. That's part of the problem.

Her Bars and beam were fantastic. She could use a little work on the floor routine. I think she needs more stamina and repetition in the gym. She's short on all of her landings. There is just a lack of power, so maybe eat some more wheaties and practice a little more in the gym lol 😂. Also, I'm not a fan of her floor music.

Some can compete in 2024. I think it has something to do with the fact that gymnastics is a national sport in Ukraine and Russia

Her beam has zero rhythm or flow. She races through her choreo and then takes excessively long pauses before skills, and then rushes, and then another excessive pause.

she can go to the olympics but as an individual right ?

Tumbling for a long slender body doesn’t really look too good. Especially since their tuck versions are harder since they have longer legs.

Look, I know domestic scoring is always higher, but the Russians have taken it to new heights this year. I mean, my God she was grossly overscored here- her DTY was meh, her bars were OK, her beam was so iffy (unsteady, switch 1/2 was bad, and she paused for like 10 minutes between some skills lol) floor her silivas is the worst I've seen, no joke and she fell. Yet she still scored that well AA??? Oof Russia is in trouble. I'm not sure they would've medaled at worlds tbh

Unpopular opinion- I really can’t stand her vault, bars or floor.
