3 semi-tones. Lowering the key of the song by 3 semi-tones is part of what Angelina does with her later rendition to make it more grounded, warm, connected. At age 12, Angelina was covering Whitney's version in the saje key as the original. At 16 she was re-imagining the song, putting her arrangement, phenomenal vocals and soul to the task. Angelina sings to express, not to impress. ❣️

I flew to Norway twice last year to see two of her concerts. She has more emotion than any singer on the planet. I was fortunate enough to to spend time with Angelina and her mother after both concerts. She has no ego at all. It was magical.

Whitney was great, but Angelina is ethereal, AJ makes you feel every word in the innermost depths of your soul. Whitney was 27, and AJ was 13, and then 16 when she performed this classic.

You guys have missed much! The Age of Angelina has begun! She gave the green light with Republic Records and they have started to roll out the carpet for her Dec 22 the 20th Asian Award Gala Feb 2023 performs at the Fifa Awards in Paris May 5th her first release of her single Love Dont Let Me Go. Heidi Klum invited her to sing at Germany's Next Top Model this past week with several performances. Angelina's EP out in June followed with tour dates and a full album in fall? And then i say we count the grammy's.

At her last concert on July 10th 2022 in Norway, when Angelina told why she sings this song and dedicated it to her grandmother Mery Zamani (her grandma was sick and couldn't accompany Angelina on the trip to Norway and both were very sad), I understand this song completely differently whenever I hear the line "Don't you dare walk away from me". 👣💯 *AJ* 💯 👣

Gents, this was recorded around the same time as "Suspicious Minds", just before her concerts in Norway. For you own entertainment, maybe for ours too, you should look into her KURBADHAGEN concerts. Angelina like I never saw her before. She laughed, giggled, talked with the audience, and sometimes she cried a bit of HAPPY tears. Finally she could have contact to her angels, with came even from Australia and Hawaii.

Understood. I just wanted J&J to be aware of her ages at each performance.

Her extensive versatility is mind boggling when you listen to mething like this, and then go to the furthest opposite end of the musical spectrum and hear her emulate Elvis is the lowest register imaginable when she sings the gospel classic 'How Great Thou Art'. There has never been anyone who handles the numerous different genres of music that she does.

You're the only reactor who caught the finger point (!) when she hits that note! I LOVE that!

What is so extraordinary is the words you have used in your conversation during the video concerning Angelina are particular to only her. Her age is not a factor. There is no one like her and I don't believe there has ever been anyone like her. Her voice is soulful because it originates in her soul and she is singing FOR YOU, not to you. To discuss Angelina's fantastic abilities as a supreme vocalist without including who she is as a person is not the way to fully appreciate what she is doing. She is a wonderful, humble, kind, caring and loving human being and every ounce of love within her goes into every song she sings. There are many wonderful artists who have delighted us, way back then and today and there is only one who can make you smile and cry at the same time when you listen to her sing. And she is someone you feel PROUD of and most definitely would love to see perform live at a Concert. Her poise and confidence are always super evident because she is always ready to perform and her desire is to make all of us joyful, give us hope and feel the love in her heart. Nothing is an act for Angelina. It is real, very real and there is no question in my mind she is truly a Messenger of Love.

If you listen to her hit recording then Angelina's rendition, one is amazed by the similarities. The 2019 Angelina plays homage to Whitney and 2022 Angelina finds her own voice, musicality and key.

Yes!! This is what I've said many times. When she was 12 (or 13) it was a "tribute" to Whitney and the song, when she was 16 it was her version of the song. It's just my opinion, but I think anyone that listens to AJ sing this song really needs to listen to both versions.

Just to answer y6u, Angie was 13 on the first one and 16 on the 2nd one. On the first one @13 she was straining a little to reproduce Whitney's sound, yet as you can tell amazing.( compare her to the clip of Christine Aguilera @ the same age, christine doesn't even come close to carrying it as Angelina does. In the 16 year old version she is doing it her way, not trying to reproduce Whitney's version. In this version Angie is breath taking. Keep in mind the title says, ANGELINA JORDAN , I HAVE NOTHING...That shows David Foster's (the author of this song) approval of taking on this song to Angelina.

This is one of those legendary songs sung by the best performers ever that Angelina tackles and elaborates without any fear and, apparently, without much effort. She was singing a couple of songs while the models were parading around the ‘ audience’ in huge wedding gowns. She was her usual wonderful self ❤️

AJ sang the first cover, at 12/going on 13, in the original key. The newer cover was one key lower, which was more in her wheelhouse. She also slightly struggled in the first, as she was pushing her limits. The second cover was purely relaxed. Welcome back.

Hi dear friends! Thank you for this interesting and highly educating reaction! With all due respect to WH the AJ's rendition is more important to me. Of course the song belongs to WH, it's Herz and her performance is very emotional and just great. But in a way not accesible as AJ's interpretation. Angelina just touches my soul bypassing my exterior reaction, even of my heart. My smile and the profound feeling of happiness comes from my soul which simply gets wider each time I listen to her. She plugs in right down into my soul and with first sounds I forget about any physicality of this whole situation. Personally I don't know any other vocalist with such gift. She was right in choosing once the title "I put a spell on you". She really does.

Welcome back! Been hoping you would not forget about Angelina! Whitney's vocals are legendary and unforgettable! Angelina took the song to a different level of sauce on it with a little Angelina soul! Loved your reaction as usual.

I love that you guys, when doing cover performances, show the original before the cover. Please take a look at Pentatonix's cover of "Gold" by Kiara. By the way, Whitney is a legend and was taken way too soon. Angelina is becoming a legend in her own right.

Guys, since you spent so much time on this one song, you should have done one of her live versions from last summer in Norway. There’s two she did, one for the outdoor “sing along” where she standing up alone on a stage in that same blue dress, and the other where she dedicates the song to her grandmother. The latter is much more emotional, and there’s not a dry eye in the crowd! Regardless, great reaction, and please do many more reactions to Angelina.

Different song but she sang I WHO have nothing when she was 6. Angelina is a very happy person and that gives me a lot of peace for Whitney. Same as Amy Winehouse. Salve and balm for the soul. Angelina has that effect.

Yes, Angelina is phenomenal, and her beautiful, exquisite hand movements have always been a very integral part of her interpretations of whatever songs she sings. If you haven't seen her do her indoor live TV stage performance of "Feeling Good" at age 10, or her home video performances of "Stay" and "Million Years Ago" at age 11 or 12, you should definitely do so, and watch her hands! They are just as mesmerizing as her voice! FEMALE ELVIS!

As usual I enjoyed your reaction very much! I just gotta say though, it's almost torture waiting so long between Angelina reactions. You guys are going to have to step them up a little, because Angelina is going places this year! She just released a new original "Love Don't Let Me Go" It is awesome! That being said, the video of Whitney singing at the awards show was very different than the soundtrack version she did. A lot more ad libbing and as you guys said, it was more raw. I think she even sang in a lower key which I've been told she often did in live performances. I believe she was 29 when she recorded that song. The earlier Angelina version (I believe she was 12 or 13) some think was a response to people saying she couldn't belt, well she can! She really stretched her limits to hit some of those notes, but she did it. She sang this version in the same key as Whitney's studio version, and stayed very true to that original arrangement. And wow, she nailed it (at 12!), from a little home studio! The second Angelina version, she also lowered her voice a key and as you mentioned, she put more soul into it. At this point she is completely comfortable making the song her own, in her own way while still respecting the original artist. I love both artists, and you guys do such a great and thorough dissection of the performances. Already anxiously awaiting your next Angelina reaction!

Angelina and Alicia Keys have the jazzy approach, and those two songs are very similar in content and melody. AJ's interpretation of the Whitney Houston song added jazz style embellishments. So glad to see and hear you two back with Angelina again! It has been way too long! And what made it even better was your bringing two of the very best female vocal artists in history on with you! And then you had them both singing one of the most beautiful, artistic, and difficult songs ever attempted. Pavlov's Dogs or Angelina's Angels? Angelina is a beautiful young woman with an ability to reach into the innermost depths of your mind on a level with what is known as a "shaman". AJ makes one feel her words and sounds. In the past we may have felt a similar sensation with maybe one song from an artist, but AJ encompasses the ability to conjure up this sensation with every performance. There is a synergy between her looks, sounds, and gestures, and her abilities to activate your senses, therefore; just seeing a picture of her is enough to bring tears to one’s eyes, we are indeed, Angelina's Angels.

Your silence after the second rendition speaks volumes. This time we bumped into a Truth and she makes us not able to look away. We have to confront ourselves with this soulful, as you said, more grounded, truth. Each one of us will read our different things in this.

As a measure of Angelina's vocal fitness and confidence, at her last Summer concert in Norway (2022) she sang a 15-song set, then 3 encore numbers of which this "I Have Nothing" was the last. Who does that at 16yo! [Also those 18 tracks were originally heard in 8 of the last 9 decades, who does that!?] Welcome back.

For me, this is the mystery of her singing. We react by being caught in the act of being unprepared for something like this. We summon all our knowledge and reaction tools and ... bang... she enters without asking our inner selves bringing light, warmth and happiness. Actually, it should not be allowed ;)
