I guess both of these are on her 1st Album .. because why did she upload them on her Official Channel and not on her Cover Channel?? .. so many things to speculate .. and I guess until her Album release we get some more "Ear-Candy" very soon and in maybe a shorter time period .. and in case you didn't see it .. Angelina also dropped her 'Allsang Pa Grensen' live Performance today on her Official Channel ..

It is the same antique store in Hollywood that she used for My Funny Valentine AJ plays guitar, keyboard/piano, violin and flute. Don’t forget she writes music and was the youngest author in Norway to publish a book. No loud band, no light show, no dancers, just two instruments to accompany the MAGIC that Angelina Jordan brings like no one else can. At 7 she was killing us, at 16 she is taking us places we have never been. What a glorious production, praise to everyone involved, so perfect for Angelina Jordan she rules the universe with her talent. Again, the great talent of Rob Christie playing the piano. The Cinemaphotography, a total MASTERPIECE, Excellent ART Cole McCarthy! Great touch, the cousins and sister get a cameo. Mery, you should be so proud, AJ's grandma produced this. (This red guitar is identical to the one Elvis played in his 1968 concert on TV.) Oh, the tears, and loss of breath, she is like no other in the universe. Here is a classic example of what this ethereal talent, Angelina Jordan, can achieve she takes a mundane song and turns it in to phenomenal classic. Angelina at 16 is the MASTER of her universe, she is top priority for both Stargate, and AJ's voice has been unique since she was 7 years old and now at 16, she controls us as an audience, leaving us hang on every word and phrase. She has written a number of songs.

@@larrypifer1103 I guess it depends on how one interprets your statement, Larry: "AJ plays guitar, ..piano, violin and flute". I didn't see the "ability to play" in that statement, so the average reader would assume that she actually "plays" those instruments now, when in fact she hasn't played the flute or violin in about 10 years. And I would guess that since she hasn't played them, her "ability" to do so would be very limited.

My interpretation of the symbolism of this music video: First, and foremost; Angelina Jordan at 16 is the epitome of a Storytelling ARTIST, and she has the ability to take us by the hand and lead us down an imaginary path that we visualize as reality. The remarkable fact is that we experience this in each of her performances. In this video we see her as a married woman in her mid to late 20s. As the video starts out, we see dishes, and it is a symbol of a home. As AJ sings the phrase “Were caught in a trap, I can’t walk out” we see 3 small children, this to me is a marriage where the children come first. If it were AJ by herself, she would not stay in a relation without trust. AJ adapts the performance to pay homage but then makes it her own and so much better than the original.

Elvis Presley owned Graceland (research that), and Angelina Jordan entered Graceland, uncovering the furniture, looking up at the elegant chandeliers, and singing Suspicious Minds in a reminiscent, melancholy way, as though she were still grieving the huge loss of Elvis, as we all still are. Again, she understands her audience, and can take our heartstrings and just twist them to a point of emotional entanglement around the words she sings. She is dressed for the era, and mostly carries that guitar to bring more authenticity to the song.

Guys, this was just a stellar analysis as it is every time! You asked about the symbolism of the video. This is the general consensus. The antique store and Angelina taking the sheets off of the mirror and the furniture and the piano represent uncovering Elvis's vintage past. During the Elvis special which I believe was in 1969, he wore the black leather suit and boots, and had the red guitar as Angelina does. Angelina's beehive hairdo was the same type of hairdo that Elvis wife Priscilla had. The three young girls are Angelina's sister and two cousins and represent Angelina at different ages growing up. Angelina also used the vintage microphone. The pianist was Rob Christie, head of Republic records where Angelina is signed, and Mery Zamani is Angelina's grandmother who directed. You may have noticed that Angelina wore boots at the very beginning but once she started performing she was barefoot. There is also a scene with the camera pans down as it looks at the mirror with Angelina's reflection. As it pans to the bottom you see her bare feet in the bottom part of the mirror. I'm not sure if I've missed anything but I hope that helps.

She has had an album and singles for sale on all platforms, her “It’s Magic” album is still in and out of the top 10 iTunes jazz chart, and she signed her contract with Republic Records 2 years ago, and she has already performed a song for a movie soundtrack. We are talking about a decade of performing as a professional! I know she’s only 16, but she still has been on the music scene for a decade, yes, her mother and extended family have protected her and insisted on her having a normal childhood, but there was no stopping that train from the time she won NGT!

Nostalgia. The 'second hand antiques' environment is nostalgic. Her hair duplicates the 70's era. Priscilla Presley wore her hair high and long much like Angelina's in the video. This rendition depicting such reminiscing, the guitar, the microphone, the old piano, wealth of chandeliers, her sways, her clothes, the children (memories)... absolutely brilliant! I was 8yo when Elvis came to Stockton, California. He performed at the Stockton Auditorium. I am now 72yo... he was a BIG deal! Movie star, Military, Performer... Records sold worldwide by the millions. His earlier years were very robust. Personally fueled by drugs to keep him up, and to keep him down (to rest). He was completely controlled by "The Colonel". Driven to suicide by ambitious money hungry greedy people, and could no longer perform as agile, he just wanted to STOP! So, he overdosed and died, age 42. He is now resting in Graceland TN, his home.

I love how Angelina comes in strong and uses the bridge as both and intro and outro. The arrangement, the slower tempo, the crystal clear piano play and her melancholic singing make me really listen to the story of love being destroyed by distrust and she makes me feel the sadness of is. Because it is a really a sad song about a toxic relationship with no way out. Elvis performance was masterful and he knew how to entertain the audience and to have fun on stage. It was and is fun to watch. What I do not really feel is in his performance is that he is distraught about being caught in a inescapable trap. I saw the Elvis movie. Is is beautiful and sad at the same time: he was really caught in an inescapable trap himself.

Angelina was totally true to the lyrics of the song ... the meaning of the lyrics, the feel behind them came alive. It was absent in Elvis's performance. He was relying on tacky charisma. Angelina totally understood the lyrics and brought it through. I LOVED her interpretation ... a true artist. It was beautiful.

Once again, Angelina sprinkled her angel dust on another cover and took ownership of it. Pianist, Rob Christie wrote the music arrangement and Angelina created the vocal arrangement. It is a stand alone master work that I have no doubt Elvis would have been blown away with this rendition and the performances of Angelina and Rob.

As usual your review was interesting in its nuances, but I think you missed a pretty important comparison. Elvis seemed to approach the relationship he was singing about as being effectively doomed, This was the same impression I got from the song when I first heard it way back in the day, and it was reconfirmed the video you showed, is that he seems to be certain that "Suspicious Minds" would doom the relationship. Angelina's arrangement and her fantastic ability to use the her awesome vocal control put enough unspoken meaning and emphasis to indicate that the singer was thinking that with care and understanding the relationship could and should continue. This, to me, was an amazing reversal of Elvis' message in the song. She was acknowledging that "Suspicious Minds" were present and not good, but that with the history of love between the singer and the unseen partner carried enough weight of shared loving experiences that if the two them took care... the relationship was well worth saving and could succeed. AJ's arrangement and her wonderful voice emphasized "a cautious optimism". I found that the differences between Elvis's singing and AJ's was very interesting. His faster tempo and limited range in his arrangement almost seemed to say, "Let's get it over with." AJ's slower tempo and deeper tone presented a more soulful voice that to my ear seemed to be pleading to her unseen partner not to throw everything away, because of unfounded suspicions.

Symbolism: Priscilla Presley's hairdo. Outfit and red guitar style he wore in is come back concert. Antique store shows her dusting off old music. The cousins and sister represent her growing up during her musical journey. Her grandma Mery did a wonderful production job on this video. OUTSTANDING PERFORMANCE !!!!

  • @OleOlson121

Yeah! She’s something special, isn’t she? Pure Velvet Perfection! This vocal arrangement was all Angelina, I have no doubt in collaboration with a stellar team including Rob Christie & Mery Zamani her Grandmother. She is a Master Storyteller. The video is shot in the same Antique Store that she did 'My Funny Valentine' on Valentine’s Day. I believe it is in LA near her home. I believe the girls in the video represent Angelina's Journey from infancy to present through the classics of music history. Thus the Antique store, She grew up studying and performing these classics. Did you notice that right foot raise it''s heal to cradle the guitar a couple of times in the performance. I was waiting for her to throw in a little shake to it in homage to the King. Could that have been intentional? That is Rob Christie on piano. Sister Juliette and a couple of Uncle Michael's Babies. I think that makes them cousins not nieces. Full Black Leather Bodysuit, the guitar from his concert in 68 and the hair a homage to Priscilla Presley. Yeah! She can bring tears to your eyes. Epic. Incredible. There are no words. Epic! Wow, Wow, Wow! Could it be more Beautiful? ♥👣👸🏻🎷 Yeah she did Concerts in Norway last month! Album to drop soon! So much to look forward to.♥👣👸🏻🎷 I base my interpretation on my knowledge of Angelina's journey from an 18 month old little girl singing a "classic" of music history 'I Will Always Love You' . She has been listening to these classics on repeat on U-Tube since then under the guidance and inspiration of her Grandmother Mery Zamani. She has been performing these classics since her first time in studio at 6 yrs old.. She has continued this journey through her 1st introduction to the world with her "Classic'" 'Gloomy Sunday and following with her many performances at her many Jazz Festivals, TV performances, Concerts, and charity events, studio recordings and practice sessions at home accompanied or not. The location in the Antique store represents these classics (like the furniture) of another era. To me she portrays wonder at all these classics surrounding her. as she has travelled this road. Her tribute to Elvis is at her present age, today, each stage represented by her cousins and sister and ending with Angelina herself on the couch still admiring all this history surrounding her. The beautiful rendition of the song, and other tributes are in the leather outfit, Guitar and hair a tribute to Priscilla. Just my interpretation but it makes the most sense to me. .♥👣👸🏻

Angelina Jordan‘s grandmother was the executive producer of this video. The two young girls are her cousins and the older girl is her sister. The music video was shot in a family member’s antique store. She pays tribute to Elvis by wearing leather, having her hair styled the way Priscilla wore it when she was married to Elvis, and she is wearing blue suede boots which you can see when she sits on the loveseat. Lastly, The guitar she plays was actually owned by Elvis Presley. It was on loan to her or this video 🇨🇦♥️🇨🇦

You guys are really fun and seem to appreciate true talent! And im sure many people have probably already suggested this to you guys, but if you havent had the chance to experience the enormous range of some seriously beautiful, truly deep & meaningful to the soul, songs & performances by Elvis, it really would be an awesome thing to watch your reactions towards some of those !Like #1- ELVIS PRESLEY "IF I CAN DREAM"(68 COMEBACK SPECIAL)-but the white suit version- #2-ELVIS PRESLEY "TRYING TO GET TO YOU"(LIVE 68 COMEBACK SPECIAL) #3 ELVIS PRESLEY "IN THE GHETTO" #4- ELVIS PRESLEY "ONE NIGHT WITH YOU" (LIVE 68 COMEBACK SPECIAL) Just to name a few, out of the many definite must see:) Anyway, again you may or probably have already watched these. But just in case you haven't, i think or i have a feeling that you guys would not only, really enjoy these specific performances and the way he sings in them. But you may also be surprised on how much your missing out if you dont truly experience him and his out of this world talent on all fronts. As well as the amazing joy & love he brings to the hearts of many who grew up listening to him and now to this generation,(which includes myself..lol) who are opening their minds & rediscovering the true depth of who he was and the unique voice & sound he carries throughout his songs, that can bring out every emotion you feel all at once! In any case, it would be really fun to watch your reaction to any of the songs i listed. But starting with ELVIS PRESLEY "IF I CAN DREAM"(68 COMEBACK SPECIAL)- the white suit version- Thanks guys! Much Love! ❤❤❤❤

A couple of thoughts: It was definitely an homage to Elvis. Her dress imitated Priscilla Presley including the two children. They were to be recognized as Priscilla as a child growing up. The littlest child spun half way round and the pre-teen completed the spin and then was sitting on a sofa. Then Angelina was sitting on a sofa. Her dress and actions represented the adult Priscilla. Notice she entered with boots but when she began singing the bare feet had reappeared. Her grandma was listed as an executive producer so the traditions continue. Tom

The black leather outfit and guitar are from the Elvis 1968 Comeback Special. The red Hagstrom guitar was just like the one Elvis used on that special. The piano player was Rob Christie from her record company Republic Records. He let her borrow the guitar from his collection. The beehive hair was inspired by Elvis’s wife Priscilla, who famously featured it. This was an amazing piece of art! You guys are young and I think you will really appreciate AJ’s newest release “I have Nothing” by Whitney Houston. She did a home studio version of this song at age 13 that was amazing, at 16 it is a Mic Drop. You will find it It on her official channel.
