One common comment keeps popping up, so I will address it here and no more. As having kids myself I understand just showing interest in things in front of them influences the way they think. They spend a week with their uncle and come back wanting to be Guitarists. You guys are acting like we insinuated she was forced somehow into music or Jazz. Continuously and deliberately showing interest in something in front of young children 100% pushes them in that direction. That is our purpose as parents to push our children into directions we hope they will enjoy themselves or even more than we do. We did not mean Angelina has been forced into liking or doing certain things. Only meant her family were great role models and deserve credit for exposing her to certain things at certain times. Some of you are being a little too hateful over something so innocent.

@@RNTV Angelina and her closest, decided early on that she would have as normal a childhood as possible. Even when she won NGT, 8 years old, many wanted to sign a contract. Everyone was dismissed! Even Disney. When it comes to the actual training and choice of songs etc., it has always been Angelina who made all the choices and decisions. Parents and others, on the other hand, have asked her to take it a little easier sometimes. Angelina is very special and her own driving force. Ever since she was 3-4 years old! Of course, all relatives and frends, have helped and protected her. And this Norwegian girl sings in English! Do you know that she speaks several languages. You have one misconception. No one pushed Angelina. She from the age of three was pushing. At age two going on three she is seen scrolling through KZread for hours, looking for Jazz artists to listen to. She was probably listening to Jazz and Blues while still in the womb. At three she tells her Mother she wants to sing on that Simon show. At four she enters school. Is enrolled in after school program taking music, piano, violin and flute. Mother is trying to slow her down but she wants more. At five she is taking music theory learning to deconstruct songs and rearranging to her liking. On a night where she could not sleep and her mother was worried as it was long after midnight, she borrowed her Mother’s tablet and found Billie Holiday. A moment in time that changed her life. Angelina has stated that if she had not found Billie Holiday we would not have the Angelina we know today. We are indebted to her Grandmother for her love of Jazz and the chronology of her life. There has never been a record in depth to this degree of any artist present or past. Book’s will be written. Documentaries will be made. At some point movies will be made with chronicles of her life. Music schools and universities will offer courses in “Angelina “.

Yes, Angie found her music and mentors like Billie and Ella on her own. When she was 5 she listened to these great singers over and over and over, obsession. And that "formula" is ongoing, in other words, she's still in school and she's her own teacher.

@@cliffirddelbridge2810 Well put. Angelina has been teaching herself since birth. I sometimes believe her first language is music. No six year old should have the inflections and understanding she displayed. No six year old should be able to understand the concepts she wrote in her diary. When she took off her shoes she became the hero of this 80 year old philosopher who discovered that there may be a glimmer of hope for humanity. Along with Aurora who may see the wider world. Both of them probably set on the edge of there bed at night and start crying. At eighty I no longer cry, I just think how can there be this much stupid.

If one finds his/her passion that early, many kids like music at a early age that's not a secret, something this is happen. I know of a violine talent, a girl, who's playing the violin really young and loves to do it WITHOUT being forced by her also violin playing mother and musician that's her father. So, kids if exposed to listen to music while in the womb CAN become prodigies! Fun fact, heavy metal is the best music for kids in the womb when mom is listening.

Hi, there are times, when it's no use to try to put in words what we are witnessing here. A tiny elf from heaven. There is no use to talk about her vocal technics. It is a waste of time. The only thing she wants us to do is calm down and open our ears and hearts. It is not by chance that she was standing on a carpet of flowers. Anytime and anywhere she sings flowers just start popping up, first of all in our hearts and souls. Soothing and healing songs. Tears are the only legitimate reaction to this singing heavenly creature.

You mentioned that it's great that everyone in her family pushed her toward this type of music... That's not the case at all. Her grandmother introduced her to jazz, but it was Angelina herself that searched out more and listened to all she could. Singing was something that was always going to be in the cards for her, but I think it was her discovery of jazz that really took her from a love of singing to a love of music itself. You can hear the jazz influences in everything she does now. Even in things like her techno/edm track "Above the Water" you can still hear the jazz in her voice. BTW: At some point be sure to check out her progression with "I'm a Fool" with her studio recording at 11 years old.... kzread.info/dash/bejne/hXusksajiLe-gc4.html

@@RNTV I agree with you. Angelina was very lucky to come from a family with such great role models. It is the reason for a lot of her great personality traits and morals. I did not mean to make it sound like I thought you were insinuating that she was forced. I was only pointing out that (after being introduced) she took an interest in jazz and sought out more on her own. Even though her mother did not know much about jazz, Angelina would use her ipad to search youtube for all the jazz she could find... at like 3 years old. Please don't read 'negative' into any of my comments. I am never coming from a negative space. I'm only passing on information so that you may get a better understanding of the history of this artist. I think it is an important point that she has driven her own story from such a young age. The statement "everyone in her family pushed her toward this music" is a quote from you not me. I knew what you meant and did not see it as a negative statement (others might have). I didn't read it like you thought she was forced, but rather that you thought she came from a family with jazz all around. I just wanted to point out that it wasn't the case. I apologize if it came off as a criticism. I did not mean it that way.

@@RustyShacklefordChannel I think Angelina's genius is incomprehensible to us mere mortals. Probably at the age of 3 she already understood that jazz is the foundation of modern music. I also believe that Angelina loves to tell stories, and despite her young age she seems to be an excellent writer, if we add her exceptional musical understanding of her in the future we could have something never seen before her. A Bob Dylan with the voice of Maria Callas and the unique communication skills of Angelina. We just have to wait for what will do in the future ...

No music in the first one. And yet we almost hear the instruments through her voice. "She is music." No one delivers and elicits emotions any better than Angelina. Obviously talented but it also takes hard work for her to perfect her talent, even then. Yes, thanks to her Grandma for introducing her to Jazz and Blues. She loved it and it formed her earliest musical foundation as she listened to and studied the early greats. It has been such an overlooked genre. Angelina is single handedly dusting off and reviving these classics while also introducing her new arrangements. You might react to her 10 year old reverse cover of "I'm Still Holding Out For You" kzread.info/dash/bejne/dqpsz8x8mJjPmag.html, that many believe is one of her best performances. It is a song written by Baby Fuzz and sent to Angelina at 10yo to demo. She performed it first, though it was never released, then he later performed it. It's almost impossible that a 10yo performed this. But it's Angelina.

Her family did not push her towards this music. Her grandma used to play jazz when she painted whilst looking after tiny Angelina. Angelina said my mum wanted me to sing twinkle little star but I only wanted jazz. Apparently from a tiny age she would go on her pad and search out jazz herself. Then one day they heard singing and thought someone was playing music. When they found out it was Angelina singing they were as astounded as we are now. She has always driven this. Her parents were always trying to put on the brakes, wanting a normal childhood. That's why they didn't sign with Disney and all the record companies trying to sign her until 14, and a deal that agreed to wait till she finished school and a level of artistic autonomy not given to such young artists.

You won’t find any comments by the judges, at the “cuts” every singer had to perform a capella unless they were accompanying themselves. The judges listened to everyone, dismissed everybody, and after a long discussion they had whittled the group down to 12. You’re a breath of fresh air in reactor land!

I subd for more of your obviously heartfelt reactions to Angelina. My favorite suggestions would be another performance of Summertime at I think 9 with a full live Norwegian orchestra behind her. Also At Last at a fund raiser at about the same time. Also she was not well at this, but I think it just adds to the performance. The rabbit hole is still deeper.

I've seen this hundreds of times, and I still cry. There is something so special about Angelina Jordan that it is impossible to put into words, like trying to describe sight to a sightless person. I've said before that there is no road map to experience Angelina's journey. Just know that, whichever route you take, you will always be amazed with her talent, artistry, beauty and humility.

Thank you so much for going back to the beginning like this. I can watch these NGT performances over and over, and I love seeing new people discover them and be amazed by them. There's a lot more amazement to come! If you want to go chronologically, there's What A Difference A Day Makes (in concert), and Fly Me To The Moon on The View, which has a short interview beforehand so you can see something magical - an 8-year-old girl disappears and a fully mature jazz singer suddenly materialises!

Nobody, as far as any of us know, "pushed her" to do this kind of music. Angelina as a one year old .. literally reacted very animatedly whenever there was jazz playing. She loved it so much. Her grandmother, Meri Zamani, a child prodigy herself .. recognized Angelina's focus and passion and helped her at age 2, to figure out how to manage KZread and listen to people she wanted to hear .. Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald, Frank Sinatra .. all the classics .. and she would listen to them over and over .. little piece by little piece .. and then she would try with everything she could .. to make those sounds herself. She literally taught herself from the inside out, how to sound like Billie Holiday and all the singers she loved. That is why she was called the girl with a thousand voices. So the interest and the passion came from her directly. There is a video where she is one and a half, I believe and she's laying on the ground on a blanket and her grandmother placed a mic on the blanket next to her and she picked it up .. and btw .. they are quite heavy and put it to her mouth and mimed singing into it .. and then put it down. Amazing stuff in this little girl's early life. Worth checking it out. Thanks for your great reaction!

Hi there. Glad you got to see Angelina Jordan perform "I'm A Fool to Want You" by Billie Holiday. If you ever listen to the original, you'll find similarity in tone and cadence to Billie. Both performances are incredible in their own way :-) I’m a fool to love you she sings a capella and the amazing part is that she keeps on tempo, on pitch and applies all of Billie’s inflictions. There is an incredible mash up showing just that. When singing a capella it is very easy to slide a bit on your pitch or on your tempo. It is not just amazing at her age, it is amazing at any age. I’m not sure she listened to it endlessly, I coined the phrase that she may have a phonographical memory and that songs in a way runs on a tape in her head. There is some evidence (using that word a little light) of that idea in Summertime as well. If you pay close attention, at about the 8:35 mark she softly speaks a sentence Ella said in her duet with Louis (I needed someone pointing that one out to me after missing it a few dozen times). Summertime is inspired on that duet and the high ‘Your Daddy is rich’ is what Ella did as well. She also put in a bunch of her own. They always drag out the announcement of the winner in such shows to bring out tears:-) There was about 4 months between audition and final and indeed a tremendous growth in her artistry. You only missed the semi-finals where she sang Bang Bang. A wonderful performance as well. Keep enjoying your journey! :-)

Bart Pieters: If it's true that there is a mere 4 months between recording 'Gloomy Sunday' and her winning performance of 'Summertime', the growth of Angelina's vocal control, stage craft, confidence (and teeth) is astounding! @@branscombeR The four months is accurate and yes her growth is indeed astonishing :-) I would say she never lacked confidence: from the very start she gives answers with confidence and loves to be on stage. But to blow your mind a little more. About half a year after Summertime she recorded I Put A Spell On You. It means that she is not just very talented but also works very hard with iron discipline to improve herself.

Thanks so much for not only more great Angelina reactions, but for also taking the time to lead us through the entire NGT finale episode. Even at such a young age, Angelina is able to melt our hearts. (Btw - all the NGT money that she won was donated to charities.) Following her AGT win, there are a number of great performances while she was still 8. A couple of my favorites: What A Difference A Day Makes - performed at a Norwegian outdoor summer music festival & her US debut on The View performing Fly Me To The Moon (this video also includes a short interview in which she answers the question as to how old she was when she started singing). It feels safe to know that the two of you have seen these performances now, because it puts SO much into context. Just want to add to what some others have alluded, if you find the original performance of literally whoever Angelina is covering, it will shock you beyond understanding just how amazing her performances are when viewed in that same light. She is no fluke, she is genius level prodigy in the league of Michael Jackson, Mozart and Stevie Wonder. If that wasn't enough, from time to time we get a view of just how hard she works at her craft and can only be more impressed. P.S. The quality of the audio and video of your reactions is about as good as it gets.

If you pay attention to her interviews, her mother wanted her to sing something most children sing, but she wanted to sing jazz, she had jazz being played around her from a very young age, and that’s what she wanted, no one pushed her in any way, they protected her once she reached an age when she could actually audition for NGT, which her mother delayed for a year, and after she won they protect3d her because she was a sensation within the music industry, but she did it all, that’s why she is a prodigy, and just like Mozart, she arranged all her performances own and instructed the musicians how to accompany her. I know, it’s unbelievable, but it’s a reality, Angelina’s reality!
