The first rule of listening to Angelina Jordan: There is no shame in tears. This young woman (she's now 16, and an even better performer) has regularly reduced me to tears, and most of the time I don't even know why I'm crying. She has the incredible ability to sing the emotions of a song, any song. When she wants you to cry, you cry. When she wants you to smile, you smile. And it's been that way since she first stepped on stage. Definitely go back to her very young start on NGT, but then look at some of her more recent releases (like "Suspicious Minds"). But beware! You're about to fall down a very deep, very satisfying rabbit hole. But there are hundreds of devoted Angels already here, waiting to welcome you to the club!

@@RNTV, “I Put a Spell on You” is simply incredible. BUT, it is VERY different than most of what Angelina does. If you hear it early on, it’s really not as amazing as would be if your hear more of her other material. That is, you develop a baseline expectation of excellence. THEN, when you hear “Spell”, it totally shocks you at it’s excellence. It is the most amazing performance of that song by any singer at any age. With perhaps the exception of the original by Srceaming Jay himself!

I love welcoming people to Angelina. She's been thrilling and making me cry since I first saw her Norway's Got Talent performances when she was 7. I cannot recommend these enough. Don't worry about the emotional thing. She does that to all of us, consistently. She's been making people tear up for 10 years now, from contest judges to vocal coaches to musicians, and all the rest of us. This girl did her fist (very short) cover of Whitney Houston's "I Will Always Love You' when she was 18 months old. She's been at it ever since. Today she is 16, and just did live concerts in Norway. I was introduced to her in 2014 when my daughter was seeing her at a concert and called me up crying and said "Daddy You Have Got to Hear this, there is an Angel on earth, and she is singing to us". She was singing What a difference a day makes, and she was Killing it! Ever since then it has been my pleasure and honor to be a fan of this wonderful girl.

Angelina is a great discovery for anyone that loves music. She is such a rare talent. As you both saw here, she can just pull you right into her world when she sings. You have a lot more to hear from Angelina. She has done so much work over the last 10 years. You will get a lot of suggestions, but really every single thing she does is gold. And as always... for anyone that is just discovering Angelina, here is a little bio so that you can learn a little more about her background and her kind and caring soul....... *Angelina Jordan* - Angelina Jordan was born Jan 10 2006 in Oslo, Norway. She is currently 16 - She began singing at the age of one and a half - At 2 or 3 she discovered Jazz through her grandmother and started studying all the greats from Jazz history with youtube videos. - *Why Angelina always sings barefoot* - When Angelina was 6 years old, she was traveling with her grandmother and met a poor girl with no shoes trying to make money on the streets. They talked for a while and discussed their dreams. It was cold and the girl had scars on her feet. Seeing this, Angelina took off her shoes and gave them to the girl. The girl thanked her and told Angelina she would pray for her every day. That day Angelina made a vow to always sing barefoot until all the children of the world could have shoes. To this day, whenever Angelina is performing in public, she sings barefoot as a way to remember that little girl and to remind us that there are less fortunate people in the world that could use our help. Angelina holds so true to this promise that she has sung outdoors in Norway, in december... barefoot. She has sung at a dinner with ex-pres Obama... barefoot. She went on AGT (possibly the biggest stage in the world)...bare foot. She made a promise at 6 years old, and has stuck strong to it for years. That takes a special kind of person. - She has always been the driving force behind her own singing career. @@RNTV Each time I listen to her I try figure out what is so unique in the way she sings. Of course it's first the person as such. Many amazing vocalists put us in the state of awe because of their abilities. She looks like she wouldn't care so much about how much we get excited. I sense that she is trying to bypass the effect-side and get straight to our hearts, even souls. It's not an attack from her, she makes us trust her and so we open our hearts to what is she intending to say. It's even like she doesn't regard our ears, or even our hearts as the site of emotions, as the final destination of her messages. In many of her songs my souls awakens in a way. Of course it's basing on the sounds I perceive, but she seems to get right into my soul where the sound is not that important anymore. In a way she is talking to me. Read for instance the lyrics of "I put a spell on you", "A song for A", "I'm still reaching out to you" or "Defying gravity", "Million tears" or "I have nothing" to name a few. Morissette Amon and Sohyang belong to this group too.

I think that many of her songs have this potential of being life-changers. It's only about amazing vocals and so on. I don't want to go too far, and maybe she doesn't have it on her mind, but sometimes I feel like God is trying to get to people's hearts "using" her talent. Especially in these difficult times.

As soon as Angrlina start singing, the audience and jury go dead silent and she mesmerises them and only lets them go when she wlia ready to :-) This is her own arrangement and also Queen praised her in Twitter and gave her a licence to release it separately. She made the clothes she is wearing herself with a print from her grandmother's art. You might have noticed she goes barefoot. There is a wonderful story behind it. When she was 6 she gave her shoes to a poor streetgirl in the Middle East. Since she has always performed before to raise awareness for poor children. She also did a bunch of charities to help raise millions. The crowd goes dead silent - yes! That is a fact :) In june, she attended the show «Allsang på grensen» or «Sing-along at the Border» and performed this song and Whitney Houston’s «I Have Nothing». The cameras had to search around for some time to find anyone opening their mouths except for jaw-drops 😄 Also, on her latest concert in Kurbadhagen/Sandefjord, on july 10’th she suggested the audience to sing along on one occation, but there were almist none. How could we, hehe! You just want to shut up and listen.

Thank you both for your genuine reactions. Here is an introduction to Angelina Jordan for you and your viewers who might not be familiar with her. Angelina is Norwegian, her full name is Angelina Jordan Astar. Her father is Swedish, her mother is Norwegian from a Japanese father and Iranian Mother Mery Zamani who is a poet and a painter and was a child prodigy in her own rights. She started singing at the age of one and a half when she fell in love with Whitney Houston’s “I Will Always Love You”. A year later she discovered Jazz through her grandmother and showed lot of interest in artists like Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald, Dinah Washington, and Louis Armstrong. Angelina pestered her mother to enter her in “Simons Show” as she called it from the age of 3. Her mother relented and entered her in Norway Got Talent at the age of 7 where she auditioned with Billie Holiday’s Gloomy Sunday. She went ahead to win the the big prize at the finals where she received 46% of the votes while the remaining 9 finalists combined received 54%. Angelina said she likes singing because she wants to bring joy and love to the whole world. One of her dreams from a very young age was to sing at the Nobel Peace Prize concert. She accomplished that at the age of 8 singing Louis Armstrong’s What a Wonderful World. After winning NGT, she was flooded with offers from major music labels as well as Disney but they were all turned down by her and her family in order for her to continue her education and to protect her artistic integrity. Her uncle/manager in an interview last year he talked about music labels top executives who would fly to Norway on private jets with huge contracts offers but would leave mad and frustrated because they never expected being turned down. Angelina is fluent in Norwegian as well as in English. She also speaks some Swedish which is very close to Norwegian and probably learned it from her father. She also speaks Farsi which she learned from her grandmother as well as some Japanese that she picked up from her grandfather as well as her mom and uncle who lived for a period of time in Japan. She actually performed a Japanese song at a concert in Japan. Most of her performances after NGT were for charitable children organizations where she helped to raise millions. At the age of 6 and while travelling in another country with her family, she came across a young orphaned shoeless girl who was weighing people on a bathroom scale for some coins in order to support herself and her siblings. After chatting with her for a while and without prompting from her family, she gave her shoes to the orphan girl. She recorded that incident in her diary and vowed to always sing barefoot when doing that in public to remember that girl and to remind herself and us about the many needy children around the world. At the age of 9 she wrote and published a book about that encounter making her Norway’s youngest published author. Proceeds from that book are donated to children charities. Angelina Jordan has about 170 songs in her repertoire. In 2020 she signed with Republic Records as their highest priority new artist. Her versatility is unmatched. Such a remarkable response to Angelina. I think that the moment that someone suddenly realizes that this is not just another good singer, is one of my most cherished moments in watching these reaction videos. Most reactors seem to fall into 1 of 3 categories. 1. They know what they are viewing is not normal but haven't the words to express it. 2. They are overwhelmed with emotion as they intuitively understand that they are witnessing a miracle. 3. They try to slice and dice their way through her music telling us specifics about tongue placement and how the vocal folds interact with each other while allowing the vocal cords to pass a high volume of air.. ect, etc. Yes, I know that there are more than 3 but that's a start

One month ago i saw her live in Kongsberg 7th of July and it is the best concert i have been to. I was only like 6 meters away from her and tears showed up more than once for me and for others. I voted for her win back in 2014 and never experienced any other singer surprise you in next song. Always in a positive way. For next song try her black/white cover of "I put a spell on you" cover of Screaming Jay Hawkins (Man in picture on the candle cup she holds. She is 9 years and 2 months old. Make sure you get the video with the translations, because although she sings all the songs in English .. it is truly worth it to understand what the judges are saying. (You may already know .. but it's composed by Frank Sinatra and Frank Sinatra sang it first, but Billie Holiday followed him with a great rendition.); next she sings Bang, Bang (made famous by Nancy Sinatra, written by Sonny Bono); and finally Summertime .. (George Gershwin composed and has been sung by many.) Again .. you might forget to breathe while hearing this one also. So that's it .. that's Norway's Got Talent .. and the video ends before you can reach for the kleenex .. but you will have met, truly met, Angelina Jordan. After that amazing group of songs, I would recommend, together with so so so many other people will recommend, I Put a Spell on You .. (a song written and first perfomed by Screaming Jay Hawkins way back and Angelina fell in love with it and arranged her own version and sings it with an amazing jazz group at nine (yes, 9) years old. On this one you may well lose your ability to talk or find words to express what she just did. ok .. that's enough from me. You will be directed to many many songs (she has more that 160 videos on KZread .. mostly covers, 5 originals and some interviews. Her originals are What is Life? (written very young but cannot remember age), Oslo (written for the beautiful place she grew up in), Shield (I love it .. to me it sounds like a prayer), Million Miles (magnificent song she wrote and dropped a few months after AGT, the Champions .. which she wrote after the death of her grandfather a couple of years back and who she loved very much .. it was right at the very dramatic start of covid and she said it was for anyone who had ever lost a loved one. Then she wrote 7th Heaven (a charming jazzy piece). All five are worthy and amazing and each very different from the others. Yes, yes, I know .. I said that was enough way back and recommended five more .. sorry but not at all sorry. By the way .. she signed with Republic Records a short time after AGT - the Champs with a contract that the family (she has a truly fabulous family .. very protective and supportive) and Republic Records agreed to as well as Angelina .. that she would not be introduced formally to the music business until she was done with school. It included that she could play around and do stuff on tiktok and Instagram and Facebook .. and she has surely done a TON of songs and pieces of songs and many deliciousnesses (!) Angelina has done over 160 Covers and 8 or so originals. Since age 7 she has been doing her own arranging in every facet of her covers. At the start of “I Put A Spell On You” the caption reads “I Put A Spell On You” by Angelina Jordon and at the end of the session she was given the master copy. Most of the musicians are part of Norway’s Air Force Band and Orchestra. Courtesy of the Crown Prince of Norway who has declared her a National Treasure of Norway.

I also suggest "Summertime" and "I'm a fool to want you" from NGT, "I put a spell on you" at age 9 will shock you, gurantee it, and "Feeling Good" is one of my favorites. She also has written 5 songs of her own, They are all amazing but my favorites are "Millions Miles" a tribute to her late grandfather, and "What is Life"--look at the one with a jazz keyboardist and saxophone. And then there are about 170 others, so do deep!
