She also performs this song when she's older and in that 'glass booth' rehearsal performance you can hear how she dig deep to accentuate so many of the unique elements she learned from Billie Holiday who was the originator of the song. That one song illustrates Billie's mentorship to Angelina and why she said, 'if not for Billie, there would be no Angelina Jordan'. The improvisations in both Billie's original and Angelina's rehearsal rendition are too numerous to mention here but one listen to both their performances tells you all you need to know.

While her grandmother, artist and poet Mery Zamani, was the greatest influence of her early musical tastes, it was Angelina who ultimately decided to pursue a career in music, with great support from her family. At the age of six and seven, Angelina had her very first studio performances, singing "Rolling in the Deep" and "I Who Have Nothing." However, it was at the age of eight that she gained viral fame by winning Norway's Got Talent. @@kristena9285 Just to clarify, 103mrg meant that she turned 8 before this was recorded - i.e., that she was 8 when she sang this. It aired on 2014-03-28, but it was recorded on 2014-02-07. (And for the benefit of others reading this, Angelina turned 8 on 2014-01-10.) Just for the record, we know the recording date because of a newspaper article about the little girl in red standing behind Angelina. That girl, whose name is Inna, didn't make it past this round. But she kept singing, and performed on _Idols Norway_ in 2020.

She certainly was among the youngest contestants ever, if not THE youngest. Angelina started pestering her mother Sarah to enter her into the Norway’s Got Talent contest when she was five and she finally was old enough (😳) to enter when she turned seven (NGT required that contestants be at least seven years old). Angelina performed the first song in November of 2013. She was eight years old when the performance was aired. Great reaction. I look forward to following your “AJ discovery tour!” 🎶❤️👣

I'm Norwegian and I think like many Norwegians I'm strongly opposed to exposing children to this kind of attention. Normally. I really don't like these shows in general. So I didn't see the first show live, but everyone knows I've been a huge Billie Holiday fan since I was a little boy and my phone wouldn't stop ringing. So I remember very, very well the first time I heard her sing and it was a life changing experience almost. It's very bizarre having admired a child that way and gotten to see them grow up. It really feels like I'm her uncle. :)

I believe there was another 8-year-old in the competition, but he wasn't a singer, AFAIR. There was a 9-year-old singer, who was the girl in red standing behind Angelina in this video. Her name was Inna and her story (up to the time she signed up for NGT, anyway) is not too dissimilar to Angelina's. She didn't make it through this round, though, as was the case for about half of the contestants on the stage here (all solo singers, but not all especially young - one guy was in his 30s).

Watch out which version you take: From "I'm a fool to want you" which in Norske Talenter AJ sings a capella there is a shorter version because there are 54 seconds cut out. And these 54 seconds are so good - even with speaking in - but the good thing of this version is, that you can't hear that there is something missing: AJ hit exactly the notes even after nearly a minute...
