Her ability to employ EMOTION as her base, then applying all the beautiful ornaments. Weaving in the soft nuances, colors both bright & warm dark ones. Using her breath to softly underscore a plea/need, strongly underscore the lyrics with commanding tones. Her voice is an emotional release for so many of us.. lifting us to a joyful celebration of it, and ever so easily squeezes our heart to the point of tears... Hello, LIza. Angelina takes us through the richly embroidered tapestry of "doors," and masterfully ushers us through each one. The silk ribbons, the Czech glass beads, the threads of gold, the nuanced shades of silk thread, each door with its feast for our ears, and then she sends us home with the long, long velvet ribbon of that last note. I am not a fan of this song, though I recognize its difficulty. But Angelina singing it is a feast for the ears, because of all the little details you point out. Because I know she's singing it to a meaning much wider l than original intent. When she sings that last "you," that velvet ribbon of a note, it is her Grandma Mery, it is each member of her family, it is each member of the music world that has, is, and will help her, it is each fan, a personal velvet "you" to each one and all who come. Thank you for your musically informed reaction, it was quite enjoyable. Grandma Ellen, out.

Angelina’s voice and her total being is like an ocean wave or soft summer breeze that takes you in and rushes you to places you have rarely experienced. Your heart rate increases, you find it difficult to catch your breath, chills and shells engulf you. You are now addicted to Angelina Jordan. This coming from a guy that is 74 and has experienced the best vocalists in the world, but none have captured that soft spot like Angelina Jordan does each and every time.

What a genius.....the best female voice on the planet....I also cry when I hear that stunning voice. Thank god for her...xx from Ireland..

It's like Botticelli's Venus descended and gifted us with her voice. AJ's performance here is absolutely stellar. She has to belt near the top of her range, and she handles the key change perfectly. Very little vocal strain or pressure. Her riffs during the coda are from another planet -- and the way she sustains fry and vibrato and breathiness throughout her runs is her signature: easily the best I've ever encountered.

After listening to 150 or so of Angelina's videos most of them multiple times. I think I can sum this up in one sentence. "THE GIRL KNOWS HOW TO SING".....

The girl of many vocals, no wait, the girl that makes us cry, or the Queen of Jazz. She is known for many titles and yet she has just started, because everything we have seen so far is practice! This is the beginning of something more like "World changing" she can touch the heart. No one is like her.

Love your reaction Liza. You truly get this beautiful young lady. She had me at the very start with her sweet melody and how she delicately handled it. Love to see you react to "Suspicious Minds", she took that song and completely made it hers. Thank you so much for this reaction of Angelina. She deserves the exposure and recognition of what a true artist sounds like.

Whitney Houston's music will live on forever but I have no doubt she is smiling in heaven at this version. Angelina at her final concert in Norway last July, dedicated this song to her grandmother Mery Zamani, who was a prodigy for poetry and art while growing up in Iran. Mery is everything to Angelina, which makes this song, sung by Angelina, very emotional.

Very beautiful reaction, thanks Liza. From the very first words, the warmth, tone, passion and sweetness that Angelina manages to instill in this mythical song are truly incredible, even more for a 16 year old girl. Her phrasing, backed by her wonderful use of breath and her peculiar jazz tone, always fascinates me and gives me chills every time, despite the fact that I has listened to her hundreds of times. Please see his version of Elvis' "Suspicious Minds," which he sang around the same time, which is a wonderful re-reading of the song, on a completely different slant than this one, but just as incredible.💛🧡❤

Every time I listen to her singing this song I cry. It isn't the only one to do it either. I'm not sure why or how she can do it to so many. If you want a real treat take a look at her singing this song at 13 in her home studio. I don't know which one is performed better. I do know they are both master class performances. It is so difficult to try and pick a favorite song by Angelina. It's like I've read in different comment sections "my favorite Angelina song is the last one I listened to". Such a true statement.

At her last concert on July 10th 2022 in Norway, when Angelina told why she sings this song and dedicated it to her grandmother Mery Zamani (her grandma was sick and couldn't accompany Angelina on the trip to Norway and both were very sad), I understand this song completely differently whenever I hear the line "Don't you dare walk away from me". 👣💯 *AJ* 💯 👣

Nicely said Albert. I too now hear that song from a totally different way.I love this song and I was so excited when she first introduced it then when she dedicated it to her Grandma I was surprised because I had not thought of it in terms of her relationship with her grandmother. However in true Angelina style she gave new meaning to the words and crushed my heart so I could hardly breathe.

@@EarnestMasumoto I don't understand the question correctly. At this point, Mery Zamani was already on the mend and her health was much better, but Mrs Zamani was not yet able to travel and accompany Angelina on her trip. I assume this song is also a favorite of Mrs Zamani. 🤗🤗

I agree that we can recognize Angelina immediately. I think that I can just recognize her voice now, but after a few phrases we also recognize the signature dynamics of her style because they really are unique. The small runs at the end of notes, the richness and power she gets in her lower register, and her ability to so easily begin with a vocal fry that morphs seamlessly into her full voice-all Angelina. And, as always, there’s such ease in delivering this huge song. I am no longer surprised by her choice of songs. The surprise would be if she gave us what we expected. Once again, I was always impressed by Whitney’s incredible vocal ability, but I feel the weight of the lyrics with Angelina.

Angelina is impossible to describe how amazing she is. My mom was a famous singer in the Big Band era, singing with Glen Miller, Tommy Dorsey, etc… in the days of soulful singers, and had a great career. If she was still alive, she would cry watching her, as Angelina is a throwback to my mom’s era. God Bless Angelina, and if you have kids or grandkids, show her videos to let them see what real talent is, and her humble way in her life is how we should all be. Take care, and Suspicious Minds is awesome.

This beautiful young lady has an amazing talent and I pray that in 80 years she's the maven of musicality at almost 100 years old that she is now. I hope she has a long, beautiful, and amazing career in music and that it only changes her for the better.

As someone who’s listened and loved all of the tones and nuances of Angelina’s soul- touching interpretations of songs, it’s so satisfying to share listening to them with someone who appreciates them on the same, or even deeper, level- especially if it’s their first discoveries of her!! Your reactions- analytical and emotional- are so wonderful and satisfying to hear and see! This was from months ago, so I don’t know how much you’ve heard now, but I’d say, don’t miss these covers!! : “ A Million Years Ago” (Adele) and “ Stay” ( Rihanna) - both amazingly at about age 12. My favorites from her youth were “ What a Difference a Day Makes” and “ Summertime”- both at 7 or 8 ( Those 2 were from her winning run on Norway’s Got Talent. ) You can’t go wrong with any of her music, but don’t miss these!!

At Angelina's final concert last summer in Norway, she sang this as the third encore number after a 15-song set. Who sings this Whitney powerhouse as the 18th song of a concert, what 16yo, what any-yo? One's favorite Angelina song other than the last one heard is a hard question! Maybe her studio take on Adele's "All I Ask". But it is hard to find anything of hers (whether in a concert, a studio, or a parking garage) that is not a home-run!

She changed the key to this song, but does it really matter as long as she has the ability to give each word, or phrase, meaning like no one else in this universe can. How can she evoke such emotion in each and every performance? Why do I get chills, or cry tears, or lose my breath when Angelina sing a song that I have experienced many times in the past without this happening? If this feeling only happened to me that would be ok, but it happens to billions of people. We play these videos of AJ over, and over again to get our high. I was a Whitney fan from the beginning of her career to her tragic end. Whitney was great, but Angelina at 16 is far better than Whitney ever was at making you feel each word, and phrase. AJ changes every cover to make it hers and far, far better than the original. AJ is the greatest STORYTELLING ARTEST I have ever experienced in my 75 years.

Well said Larry. I love it when I play AJ's version to friends without them seeing the video and they say, Well she ain't Whitney. No...she's Angelina. Here take a look. Appreciation set in after I tell them she was 16 at the time and remind them of Whitney's age when she recorded this massive hit.

As another old codger who has been collecting music for 50 years and going concerts. I can't remember the last time I got really excited for an album like I am for hers, which is reportedly coming in the summer. I have her first one she did, called It's Magic, and it's an often play.

Liza, "Suspicious Minds" would indeed be your best choice for next reaction. Angelina here gives a completely different delivery than 'I Have Nothing' -- her subtleties are heart-wrenching. Surprise! Asking Angels to name their ONE favorite Angelina song is an exercise in futility/indecision/"air quoting"/silence. 😅 But my "favorite" is uhm, er, kinda, maybe, you're killing me here, definitely, Suspicious Minds. Phew!

So good to see you back with more Anglina! 💖 My favorite verion of this song is probably Angelina's, just because she sings it in a lower key. But it is far from my favorite from Angelina, im not even sure its in my top 50. My top 5 Angelina covers contains atleast 30 songs. But if I had to pick 1, I think I would pick 'Stay', 'All I Ask' and 'Billie Jean'. Thanks so much for this, see you in the next one, hopefully soon! 🌹

I really enjoy your reactions/analyses of Angelina's performances. You've already reacted to my all-time favorite song by her (My Funny Valentine) & this version of I Have Nothing is my next favorite, so the next favorite is her total re-interpretation of Elvis' last #1 hit song, Suspicious Minds, all filmed in the same Antique Store. It's not only one of her most beautiful performances, it's nothing like Elvis' cover & it's filled with symbolism/homage to the "King of Rock & Roll."

I believe that her cover of "I put a spell on you" at age 9 is probably the best I have ever heard , I heard a very large assortment of pros. Sing this song , but I find her arrangement of the song to be what the song really calls for

I agree with you. Just think, a child of nine is the only singer of this classic song who, instead of copying others, took the original as the base for her arrangement, and by so doing performed what to me is now the definitive version of the song. I doubt it will ever be bettered, whatever the age of the singer.

Even though she kept close to the original, Angelina still made it her own with all the little nuances you mentioned. Her timbre is very different from Whitney. Whitney has a very clean powerful voice. Angelina is very powerful as well but has more texture and warmth to it. Both beautiful :-) During the live concerts this summer she dedicated the song to her absent and recovering grandmother who has been a huge influence on her. This gives the song a very personal and emotional context.

What makes her stand above the rest is the fact that she makes you feel the emotions of the song. It is one thing to hear a great voice, but it is another to reach into you and make you feel the emotions from deep inside yourself.

We don't get to dictate what she puts out. She, and others in her team, have hinted that the album will be out sometime this summer. We'll see. Meanwhile, Angelina and her team specifically stated that the performance of "You Say" is not to be used,, in ANY context without their approval, which, so far, has not been given to anyone. Personally, I will boycott any channel that knowingly violates that trust or, if they unaware of the theft of content, does not immediately remove the reaction and apologize for using it after they are made aware.

Thanks Liza for your reaction. I definately prefer the tribute she done on this song 3 years ago. This one is more visual with some nuances that only a few worked, for me at least. Her voice is more powerful now but still needs more hundling, she has a great arsenal now which imo worked much better in her rendition of Suspicious Minds. 👍👏👏

It’s amazing how this song can draw out so much emotion from me if done right. It’s not always about technique, but the emotion you convey when singing it is just worldly when done right! Shout out to Angelina for this beautiful rendition and bringing tears to my eyes. Also shout out to the Queen, love you Whitney 🙏❤️

The difference for me is this. Other singers, including Whitney's, I listen and think... nice, well done, beautiful. When Angelina sings it, I'm thinking, what man in his right mind is going to walk away from this girl? Is he nuts? She has to imagine his love in her arms? What's wrong with that guy? I need to have a chat with that boy and straighten him out. Angelina... you don't need that fool. You have the world at your fingertips! Seriously, I never felt the meaning until she sang it. She brings it life as though she's living it. She isn't singing a script. She's telling you her story, but it's not her story, thankfully.

Please do a reaction from her live concert summer 2022 when she performing her own song "Million miles". She wrote it and dedicated in memory of her grandfather that passed away.

I think her early version (the one where it's just her sitting in a chair with a mic) of My Funny Valentine is a masterpiece on a par with Judy Garland's version of Over The Rainbow from the Wizard of Oz. Just two young people pulling out all the stops and making a song theirs for all time.
