Whenever she sings a heartfelt ballad I can always detect something she has mentioned. It was simply that she would not be the singer she is today if not for the influence of Billie Holiday. This is where Angelina first heard the 'breathy', 'whisper-like' responses made famous by Billie. As you mentioned Norah Jones, as I understand it, AJ and Norah are friends. AJ helped Norah out, when Norah needed a singer just before her own act. She reached AJ in Japan (AJ was visiting relatives, as her maternal grandpa was japanese) and AJ flew over to Seoul and sang at age 11 in front of 40,000+ people. I think you are adrift there. As far as I understand it, Angelina was in South Korea and sang at the same concert as Norah. Can you point to a source confirming that after her performance, Angelina and her family flew to Japan, got a call from Norah and flew to South Korea to help Norah out?

From an early age she embodies her feeling of the song. One of the things that has us angels watching her so compulsively is you never know what you'll get. Except it will be exceptional. She wrote the lyrics to a dance number and sang with TRXD called Above The Water. At ten she sang How great though Art in the style and key of Elvis. Valerie by Amy Winehouse , My favourite Is I'm holding out for You. Most shocking is I put a Spell On You age 9. Or her winning run in Norways' got talent. Her audition age 7 She was 8 by the time she won. There is often confusion about her ages for instance she was 13 for Bohemian Rhapsody but it was not aired for 6 months. There was no public vote, that's why she did not win. Coincidently her parents would not let her sign with Simon, or Disney for that matter as both are known for not looking after their young artists.You don't know what your in for. She has only just turned 16 now

I watched one, and only one, of the many coaches on KZread, where a singing coach cast aspersions about Angelina in her "Bohemian Rhapsody" audition on AGTC. The coach said that Angelina lacked a full belting voice, and that AJ had to mask the lack of it in that performance. I responded that Angelina's choice of her belting voice was selected precisely to convey the old-time jazzy emotive sound she was going after. I directed her to this current video where Angelina was even younger, if she wanted to see 'some' of that range and talent. I quickly learned in my own listening journey that AJ always sings her songs exactly how she envisions them. In fact, I love being surprised by Angelina by every cover I listen to. (I wish current song had been one of her AGTC performances, and it may have been planned for had she not been given a golden buzzer for her audition, sending her straight to the finals. As the last AGTC performance was a threesome vs. a solo, the final song chosen had to be agreed upon by each performer.) I realized while my kids were still quite young that they did not always like what I hoped they would. Instead, I made it my mission as a parent to expose them to as much (within reason and good taste) that I could and to encourage them to try anything they were really interested in. I tried to hold nothing back when answering their questions. At this point, I believe that you know you have been a successful parent when your kids can disagree with you and can cite reasons that you yourself find valid.

I had heard the reason she didn't win was because AGT requires a contract to be signed which would not be conducive to Angelina.

You're right to let kids do what they are good at doing, but do help them on their way. Angelina's grandmother, Meri Zamani, is her biggest fan and inspiration. Meri loves jazz and is an accomplished artist. All Angelina's family support her 100%, including her uncle, who is her agent, and Juliette, her little sister, who is her No 2 fan (the rest of us 'angels' share No 3 place).

There is also a huge play list made by Rusty Shackleford with over 150 performances on it. She blows you over with her singing, washing you over with emotion and hitting you in the feels. That can lead to an emotional overflow of sorts leading to tears, sweating, goose bumps and laughing. It may just be a way to handle all the feelings. Rumor has it that she did not win AGT because she refused to sign up with AGT. She wanted to remain independent and make her own choices. So when the super fans voted in the final, she was suddenly out as the first candidate. Though the other candidates were great, she outshone them by far I felt.

Absolutely she was the top talent in that sequence. Whomever those "50 state voters" were, they were either dishonest or tone deaf.

@@lengould9262 I take comfort from the fact that it wasn't a singing contest, but included all forms of performance. That they preferred a different type of performance does not irk me at all, but what I find totally incomprehensible is that Angelina did not make the top five. There was one other singer in the Semi Final: Marcelito Pomoy, and a singer/accordionist/dancer: Hans. To rate those two above Angelina was a travesty of justice. The one positive of this fiasco is that the American public became aware of the talent and versatility of Angelina.

It's only hearsay but what I heard was AGT had asked ANGELINA before to appear but because of the AGT contract ,was declined. AGT then later contacted ANGELINAS management to agree contract terms with no restrictions and demands as is the case for other performers. ? as for not winning the show , I found most strange that tha last ANGELINA performance was shared with 2 other acts as good as it was imo it diminished ANGELINAS performance.and perhaps affected the voting. I'm not sure but was the winner a American blind singer /piano player or was that another season.anyway it's often the case where those who don't win talent shows go on to be more successful than the winners.BTW in the UK we have had dog acts win and imo at the expense of great singers, but in one case that dog act was brilliant and went on to earn millions , unfortunately the dog has now passed away. Correction I think the singer/ piano player was severely autistic. not blind.

The cover that gets me, and one that I return to occasionally, is her cover of Stay. Something about her vibrato in that song is just insane. She has a uncanny ability to make you feel the song.

Love Angelina. Been watching her for years. Another two I have got hooked on is Aurora."Eyes of a Child" and Morisette Amon. She can sing anything. You will get hooked on them also. Oh and Laura Fabian. OMG!

She had to had a record deal to Republic record, but she sang her song and went to record company to record 14 and her first has 1,000,000 miles and another one seven heaven under Republic records, and everything is written under her name Angelina Jordan

Thanks for another great reaction - this time to Angelina's masterful cover of this classic Whitney Houston song. But in order to fully appreciate her raw talent, I still recommend her black & white cover of I Put A Spell On You (which she also arranged) - at age 9. You also referenced AGT & how is it possible that she didn't win. Suggest you also check out her 2nd AGT performance - Yellow Brick Road. Yeah now i look back on it i think Goodbye Yellow Brick Road was kind of a jab at Simon. His team probably approached her after the first performance with some sort of deal that she rejected and then knew she wouldnt win. The lyrics to the song were too poignant and it seemed deliberately aimed at Simon.

In the past centuries Angelina would have been a prophet she has so much empathy and humanity towards others, Angelina beautiful soulful pitch perfect voice touches your heart and soul she is not just an amazing vocalist she is a musical genius, Angelina arranges all her performances and this is a tribute to Whitney not trying to complete, Angelina 13 years old with this rendition, I’m attending Angelina’s live concerts in France 🇫🇷 in May, cannot wait to see her live !

Angelina takes a song and arranges it herself and makes it her own and she is absolutely amazing, I’ve been following Angelina r for 7 years now since she was 8 years old!

Singers like her only come once in a generation and we are blessed to see her.

She has 187 videos to watch. When see 50 or so you'll know she is already the GOAT.

Really enjoy watching you go into "pure awe" mode reacting to Angelina. All we can do is appreciate her in all her dimensions (and there are many)! Sometimes we laugh (with wonder) and sometimes she will draw forth tears. It's all good!

Don’t understand your worry Angelina has her feet on the ground and loving family support, and when she signed with Republic Records age 14 us Angels ie dedicated fans were so pleased she found a record company that Angelina is allowed to do her own thing and blossom, and also her Uncle is her manager!

Two I was most impressed by that show her versatility were I Put a Spell on you black and white video when she was 9 and I'd Rather Go Blind sitting on a couch when she's again 13. Highly recommend. The first one will leave your jaw dropped.

You make such a great point! Parents have the choice and privilege of nurturing their child's talent. Not every kid will be gifted as Angelina is musically, but I believe everyone has a gift of some kind, and some get supported in it, some don't. It's a fabulous thing for a parent to simply listen to a child's creative wishes. Angelina knew she wanted to sing "for the world, to bring love to all" since she was a toddler. So happily for us, her entire family has been on board with her wish -- to this day. They are her loving family, managers, and company. And they picked a great label to support their supporting her, Republic Records. Her Christmas concert sponsored by/at Republic was the sweetest, most heartfelt collab of musicians I've seen.

Whitney was 29 when this was recorded. ANGELina 12. What a GIFT to be able to follow this REMARKABLE ARTIST every musical step of the way REAL TIME! Right? Imagine when she reaches 29......🤯🤯

What a great reaction Sebastian....one of the best. Yes, this 13 year old taking on one of the greatest vocalists in history, Whitney...and fully giving justice to this great song. Angelina has been a fan of Whitney (sang one of her songs at age 1 1/2) and as it says, a tribute to one of her idols. Loved the reaction....you definitely get it for sure.
