Rusty Shackleford, Vocally, A.J. certainly owns this song w a superb rendition. Notice, tho, that it's a soundtrack for footage showing a stunningly beautiful young woman that is herself Angelina. In the lyrics the singer addresses a "funny Valentine" with "looks", a "work of art". This vid, by presenting A.J. as the subject, the funny Valentine, visually, also "ELEVATES" this song to a new status that A.J. can uniquely claim w confidence, w her masterful and fierce vocal rendition and with her gorgeous looks. In this sense, this vid is a marvelous piece of music history and, more than a "music video", is a notable short film, marred only by its abrupt ending. I think this work could launch Angelina into a film career as well as furthering her musical career. Living in L.A., she should definitely give it a shot!

She's been singing a lot long than that, she won 'Norway's Got Talent' when she was 7.

IMO, Angelina’s arrangement and vocal performance is the absolute best of them all. Sixteen year old Angelina is a consummate professional. This is a mic drop performance that can not be sung any better, except by Angelina. This song was first performed in 1937 and since then over 600 singers covered this song. It took until 2022 for a divinely gifted young sixteen year old genius level phenom to put forth the perfect arrangement and vocal performance.

Liza thank you for your excellent and so compassionate reaction to our sweetheart Angelina. I have listened to and watched 15 reactions to her singing this 2022 version and yours is my favorite. You appreciate how magical and talented she really is. One in a billion and maybe in history I have never heard anyone young or old sing like this. Angelina is simultaneously brutal in her unapologetic almost machine-like precision AND yet, is also completely free in her human and emotional touches (that no machine could replicate). One only needs to watch your face to see how much you enjoyed this performance, Liza! In the last year or so, her entire artistic ability and presentation has risen to yet another, still higher, level. Another vocal coach/singer compared this rendition to an earlier one and came to the conclusion that despite her young age, there were strong indications that she already knew how she wanted to perform this song, but her instrument had not yet developed enough to do many of those things...but now she can, madre mia!

Angelina is a master's class of vocal techniques.

Every time I hear her perform this I pick up something different, what seems like a simple mellow song is so complex and technical it shows what real art in vocal form can be! We seeing something new here. It's everything she does and the way she pulls it all together that will be done by many as a new standard in vocal ability.

Angelina is a master vocalist and excellent craftsman; it's unbelievable to me. She is also stunningly beautiful, which can be a distraction. It doesn't seem fair. 😎

YOU MUST!!!! DO Angelina's 1st original release "Million Miles" from Republic Records where she got signed at age 15. Not only did she wright this song at 14 years old, but it was in memory of her Grandfather who had just died. it will just melt your heart. Also her last release is called 7th Heaven, which she also wrote, and it's very jazzy which shows she's sticking to her roots and developing her own style. I believe we must support this talented girls present and budding career and promote not only what she's done but to promote and introduce her original work as well. She is the definition of an ARTIST!

Actually, I've never really cared for this song until I heard Angelina do this version. I've pretty much heard everything she's done (most multiple times), and I think this is her best technical performance. She is a true master of many very difficult vocal techniques, and she shows that in this performance. It's a 10+ Loved you reaction and analysis, Liza. 😊💕

At 9 years old, she arranged and performed "I PUT A SPELL ON YOU" by Screaming Jay Hawkins (his face is on the candle). The notes she writes on in the beginning of the studio performance are to tell the producer what she wanted to be done. The band affectionately referred to her as "the Boss". After this, I recommend going back to when it all started, when a 7 year old Norwegian child performed on Norway's Got Talent. The voice of an Angel and the looks of a Miss Universe this young lady definitely has it all ! When Republic Records finally gets the OK from Angelina and her family to seriously promote her Angelina will most definitely change the world of music ! There is NO ONE like her , she is a true musical prodigy!

Awesome reaction/analysis. It is a joy to watch the look on your face as you thoroughly understand and appreciate what Angelina is creating vocally. Angelina teaches a master class in technique with almost every song she sings. In my 56 years I've never known anyone who combines so many vocal techniques (dynamics, tone, breath, phrasing, inflection) simultaneously to paint a song like a picture. It is astonishing to me and so impressive how much study and effort she has put into her art since she was a very small child and how she can take all of that experience and weave it together to create the sound she wants. Many reactors have talked about Angelina painting a picture with her music. However, I see it more like she is creating a beautiful sculpture with her music because there is more than just two dimensions to the images she creates with her performances. Thanks to her 'Persian Princess' looks from her Iranian grandmother Mery Zamani, she is so stunning looking with her long, full, flowing hair and piercing eyes that the listener is mesmerized completely by as soon as she begins applying 'breathy' 'sensual' vocals learned from Billie Holiday. She also likes to weave into heartfelt songs the raw inflections like 'slurring' 'words which add an added effect that was perfected by the most uniquely different jazz singer of all time, Ms. Amy Winehouse. Talk about getting the 'Total Package' of beauty and exquisite sound, this song accomplishes that, for sure.

She's the perfect object lesson to learn from. But I think the technics are more obious for beginners in earlier performances as she got smoother and waves more and more technics torgether over time. She once said she's singing 4-5 hours a day. So there's a mountain of training involved.

Angelina’s voice and her total being is like an ocean wave or soft summer breeze that takes you in and rushes you to places you have rarely experienced. Your heart rate increases, you find it difficult to catch your breath, chills and shells engulf you. It's been about 3 years since I came across Angelina. And I can listen to her every day and even listen to the same song for the 100th time and still get chills and still enjoy her performance like it was the first time. And this version of Funny Valentine is masterful. What a blessing she is. I wish her all the success and happiness she can possibly have. Can't wait for her release of an album. I'd buy it immediately without needing to hear a single song first.

Excellent advise. If you want to get better at singing, study Angelina as hard as she has studied others. She has been amazing for most of her life. Even though it looks like it comes easy to her, we should reflect on the thousands of hours she has studied and practiced. She does have a God given gift, but it is her commitment to her vocal artistry that resulted in this gorgeous performance.

I loved her version of Funny Valentine and your commentary. Allow me to suggest that you listen to Alice Fredenham on BGT about five or six years ago. She does a similar rendition of this classic.

Her genius is so pleasing it makes it tough to appreciate others as much as I used to. It's not fair but I simply don't hear other singers the same now. Why should I when Angelina has more to enjoy?

Being a Sinatra fan since the early 50s, and experiencing him at his prime, I did not imagine anyone in my lifetime exceeding his Storytelling ability but Angelina at 16 has done it. She is ARTISTIC MAGIC like no other. It was stated that Quincy Jones told AJ she was the greatest talent since Michael Jackson. Now we know she is the greatest talent that we have ever experienced, but that was great coming from QJ.
